DEPAUL +100 over South Florida

The DePaul Blue Demons are 1-5 in the conference and just 10-8 overall. That has them falsely being billed as the pooch at home here. A close look sees the Demons losing to Minnesota by one point and to Ole Miss by two. DePaul's last five losses have occurred against #1 Syracuse, Villanova, Seton Hall, #15 Louisville and #12 Georgetown. Three of those were on the road and when they played the Hoyas at home this past Tuesday they hung around all game and lost by eight. South Florida is 4-2 in the conference and 11-8 overall but they're just 1-5 on the road. The Bulls have been getting it done on the defensive end but rank last in the league in scoring offense with 61 points per game. USF seems to find a new player to step up on offense when needed but again, its wins have come at home and now they'll play just its seventh road game of the year against a hungry host. One could argue that the Bulls have been winning through smoke and mirrors and do not deserve to be favored on the road with their one win. We'd have to second that motion. Play: DePaul +100 (Risking 2 units).

PITTSBURGH -½ +105 over Washington

Once again we'll fade the Capitals until the books and public realize that this is a non-playoff team that is getting far too much credit because of the league's most misleading record. The Caps have won four of their past six. They outplayed and outchanced their opponent zero times over that span. Over its last 11 games, Washington has 230 shots on net, which is less than 21 shots on net per game, or seven shots on net per period. They've been shutout twice in its last three games by the Islanders and Hurricanes. In that recent 3-0 win over the Canadiens, they were outshot 31-16. 46 games into the season and it's not like the Caps are being outplayed or outworked once in a while. It happens every single game lately and it happens by a wide margin. They recently have a 1-0 win over the Penguins in a game in which Tomas Vokoun stood on his head. Since then the Penguins have reeled off five wins in a row and outscored the oppoosition 21-10. The Pens are an elite group that is vastly superior than this grossly overvalued Capitals club. The game is an early afternoon featured NBC game and if Anaheim is -½ +104 over Colorado today, than the Penguins should be -½ -180 over this weak and usually uninterested guest. Do not miss this wager. Play: Pittsburgh -½ +105 (Risking 3 units).

4-STAR LA CLIPPERS over Toronto - Friday night the Clippers let Minnesota hang around and they saw the consequences there as a fourth quarter comeback did them in. Look for them to put away Toronto early in this one.

Toronto has now lost seven straight games including Friday night to Portland, 94-84. The Raptors are 0-8 ATS (-9.5 ppg) since March 03, 2002 after a double digit loss against the Trailblazers.
They shot a mere 36.6% from the field in that contest. The Raptors are 0-8 ATS (-13.6 ppg) since January 27, 2006 after a double digit home loss in which they shot less than 40% from the field.
One bright spot was Jose Calderon who managed 13 of Toronto's 21 assists on just 30 baskets.
The Raptors are 0-7 ATS (-8.6 ppg) since March 02, 2008 on the road with at least a day of rest after a loss at home in which Jose Calderon had at least 10 assists.
LA lost that game Friday night 101-98. Without Chris Paul point guard play really hurt them with just 12 assists on 33 baskets. The Clippers are 10-0 ATS (10.4 ppg) since November 15, 2000 at home after a game at home in which less than 45% of their baskets were assisted.
Blake Griffin shouldered much of the load offensively with 21 points and 10 boards. The Clippers are 8-0 ATS (4.8 ppg) since January 29, 2011 at home after a loss in which Blake Griffin had a double double.
Deandre Jordan picked up his share of the rebounding department with 11 boards but scored just two points. The Clippers are 6-0 ATS (6.0 ppg) since January 29, 2011 at home after a loss in which Deandre Jordan had more rebounds than points.

4-STAR Indiana and LA LAKERS Over - Only once in these teams past eight meetings have they combined for less than 205 points! That's a huge drop off from where this total sits. While there is some reason for that this is still the lowest total Indiana or the Lakers have played to all year. That is where the value comes in here with the extra 5-7 points you a being give due to most recent performances, particularly with both teams being rested in the game.
Indiana won on Friday night, 94-90 over Golden State. With a total of 192 in that game they scored three points less than expected. The Pacers are 7-0 OU (9.6 ppg) since December 02, 2002 as a road dog after a road win in which their DPS was negative.
They controlled the ball well in that game with 25 assists on 35 baskets and just 11 turnovers. The Pacers are 6-0 OU (10.5 ppg) since April 04, 2003 as a road dog after a road win in which they had an assist to turnover ratio of at least two.
Tyler Hansbrough played 21 minutes in that game but scored just four points. The Pacers are 5-0-1 OU (9.7 ppg) since November 30, 2010 after a win on the road in which Tyler Hansbrough scored fewer than 10 points.

A pair of solid defensive teams meet on the ice in Pittsburgh and the last seven meetings between them we've seen a perfect 7-0 UNDER the total. Washington comes in on a 4-0 run to the UNDER with the offense scoring only 5 goals in those games, getting shut out twice. Coach Dale Hunter emphasizes more of a defensive posture for the Capitals than former coach Bruce Boudreau did. In fact, Washington has failed to crack the 25-shot mark in any of the past seven contests. The UNDER is 8-2 in the Capitals' last 10 games when playing on one day of rest and 20-8-1 UNDER the total in their last 29 against the Atlantic division. Pittsburgh can also bring it defensively at 4-0-1 UNDER the total in the Penguins' last five vs. a team with a winning record as well as 13-5-5 UNDER in their last 23 games playing on one day's rest. Look for another slow-paced game with few shots or goals, so play this one UNDER the total.
