        Sports Wagers NBA

        Cleveland +7½ over ATLANTA Pinnacle
These two met on Sunday in Cleveland and the Hawks clobbered them by 26. It was the second game between these two this season and in first meeting Atlanta won by 27. A response by the Cavaliers is a must. Cleveland has lost six straight to the Hawks and they have to be sick of losing to them. We could also find the Hawks a little complacent here, knowing they own this guest. Atlanta is coming off a very physical game against the Celtics, they’re bench is weak and they did nothing at the deadline to improve anything. The current roster can’t be too happy about management standing pat. The Cavs’ are on the right track. They picked up a couple of role players in Luke Walton and Jason Kopono while unloading Ramon Sessions, a decent point guard but expendable because the Cavs’ are rich in that department. Expect a big effort from the visitor here in a game they can win outright. Play: Cleveland +7½ (Risking 2.1 units to win 2).

NEW JERSEY -4½ over Washington Pinnacle
The Wizards traded JaVale McGee, Nick Young and Ronny Turiaf. In return they picked up Nene from the Nuggets and Brian Cook from the Clippers. They went from bad to worse and they picked up two guys that have to be just sick about being traded to one of the most dysfunctional and mismanaged teams in all of sports. Especially Nene, who loved playing for the Nuggets and was a fan favorite there for years. He hasn’t even reported yet, as he’s still getting over the shock but is expected to be in the lineup tonight. An unhappy NBA player is usually an unproductive one too. Meanwhile, the Nets didn’t land Dwight Howard but they’re doing everything they can to convince Deron Williams to stay. They picked up Gerald Wallace from Portland and he brings some true grit experience and a new lease on life in the NBA to the Nets. What’s incredible is that the Nets are 10-15 on the road and just 5-17 at home. That is an anomaly that will be corrected down the stretch. The Wizards have four wins in 22 road games and for the Nets, losing to this confused franchise is not an option. Play: New Jersey -4½ (Risking 2.18 units to win 2).

        ORLANDO -8 over Phoenix Pinnacle
The Suns stock continues to rise and losing to the Heat in Miami last night by just four points did nothing to lower it. Prior to that, the Suns won six of seven and four in a row. Now they have to play their third game in four days and tail end of back-to-backs after giving it everything they had last night. It will also be the Suns’ sixth game since last Wednesday. They catch the Magic in a foul mood after Orlando was throttled by the Bulls by 26 points in a game they scored a lousy 59 points. The Magic have dropped two straight to Miami and Chicago and after playing those two defensive juggernauts, they’ll find the going much easier against this exhausted visitor. The Magic often beat up on teams in unfavorable spots and this one is about as unfavorable as it gets for the Suns. Play: Orlando -8 (Risking 2.2 units to win 2).

Game: Florida at Carolina (7:00 PM Eastern)
                Pick: Carolina -125 (moneyline)

The Florida Panthers will travel up the east coast and take on the Carolina Hurricane. The Panthers have been a hot team winning five straight games, but four of those came on home ice. The road story has certainly not been too tasty for the Panthers of late. Their last four road games show them getting shutout twice and being outscored by a count of 15-3. The Hurricane have improved since starting the season 10-25. Since ground hogs day, they have become a pretty good team as they have posted a winning record covering 21 games and on home ice have shutout opponents twice in their last seven games. This bodes well for them vs. a Panther team struggling for answers on the offensive end on the road. Florida is just 6-13 in their last 19 on the road. Carolina has been at their best off a pair of days rest where they are 5-1 in their last six. Play this one on Carolina.
