          Analysis:

          The Yankees have lost Kuroda’s last two starts 3-1 and 6-1. As our long-time customers know, this lights the BUY sign for the Yankees. The Yankees are 33-4 since the start of the 2011 season when they LOST the last two games their starter started. The SDQL is simply:

          team=Yankees and 2011<=season and s:L and ss:L

          Note that they are 19-1 their last 20 with the only loss by a lone run. Kuroda has had three starts in this spot since joining the Yankees and he is a perfect 3-0 with three quality starts. NY seems to have a LAW that no starter of theirs ever loses three games in a row. The offense supports a struggling starter and that starter puts on their game face.

          The last time the Kuroda faced the Rays, they beat him up for six runs and won 8-6. This also indicates a play on the Yankees. NY is a perfect 8-0 when Kuroda has personal revenge for a loss the last time he started against this opponent. In his last four starts in this sot, Kuroda has allowed a total of four runs. See for yourself by running this SDQL text at killersports.com/mlb.py/query:

          starter =Hiroki Kuroda and S:L and 20120608<=date

          This one will have a play-off-like atmosphere and Matt Moore has not demonstrated the mental toughness to compete in this types of games. In fact, the Rays are 0-7 in franchise history with Moore when their line is within 25 cents of pick vs an AL foe. The SDQL text is:

          starter=Matt Moore and -125<=line<=125 and C

          Finally, the Yankees are a best-in-league 62-27 (69.7%) when seeking immediate revenge for a loss in which they were shut out in the last 6 innings, making a profit of 26.7 net units. In their last four games from this season, they are 4-0.

          We’re getting plus-money on the Yankees and we’ll grab it.

          MTi’s FORECAST: NY Yankees 6 TAMPA BAY 1

            Cowboys +4 at Giants (46): The Giants have had Dallas’ number in recent seasons, winning 5 of the last 6. The talent on the teams is fairly even and getting more than a field goal is attractive. COWBOYS.

              Cowboys + 4 at Giants: A big phat hook! That’s what first caught my eye. But then the hook went away as the wise guys took the game up to 4. I liked the Cowboys at 3½. I believe these two teams are closer in talent than the hook went away as the wise guys took the game up to 4. I liked the Cowboys at 3½. I believe these two teams are closer in talent than the press would lead you to believe. My only question would be on the coaching side where I think the G-men have the advantage. But strictly looking at the players I think these two teams will play a close game decided by a field goal. I’m looking for Romo to take advantage of a little confusion in the Giants’ secondary. COWBOYS.

                Analysis: Seattle v. Boston

                Kevin Millwood takes the mound against the Boston Red Sox, who have totally mailed it in for the season. Millwood is still trying to set an example for the young guys on the Mariners ballclub, so he should give max effort in this start, which is the final game of the Boston road trip. This play is entirely a fade on Boston, as well as taking advantage of the fact that the pitcher-friendly conditions at Safeco Field don't really affect Aaron Cook a„ whole lot. His ground balls can be hits anywhere. Lefties have also had great success against Cook this season with a .317 average and a .777 OPS. Opposing hitters are batting .355 off of Cook with runners in scoring position.

                There's also a little incentive for Millwood to have a good month of September in hopes of finding a guaranteed rotation spot with somebody for the 2013 season.

                            Dallas +4 -106 over N.Y. GIANTS
                            The Cowboys lost four of their final five games last year to once again miss the playoffs. The final dagger came in the last game of the season at the hands of these Giants before the G-Men went on to win the Super Bowl. If Dallas wants to change the landscape in the NFC East and truly be a contender this season, a good start is imperative. Historically, Dallas has started well, peaked in November and nosedived in December so a strong start would be no surprise at all. The Cowboys return what should be their best backfield in recent memory with DeMarco Murray looking to lead the way while Tony Romo should once again put up some outstanding numbers. It should be noted that Romo’s best game of the year was when he passed for 321 yards and four scores in that late season bizarre loss to these Giants. The ‘Boys beefed up on defense while the Giants have lingering issues in their secondary, in addition to some key injuries there.

                            Let’s not overlook that New York allowed 400 points last year, which was more points than they scored. Then there’s the dreaded “Super Bowl hangover”. The Giants went on a Cinderella run to not only close out the season but to win outright as a dog in three playoff road games in Green Bay, San Fran and New England (neutral field) in the Super Bowl. When they defeated the Patriots in the 2008 Super Bowl, the next year they missed the playoffs with an 8-8 record. The Giants have plenty of playmakers (keep your eye on RB David Wilson) and Eli Manning has had some of his best games against Dallas. However, Dallas is talented too. Tony Romo appears to finally have the fire in his belly to take this team to the next level. It’s worth noting that Cowboys are at their best when taking points, covering seven of past nine when doing so. As is more common than not, this one should come down to the wire.
                            Our PickDallas +4 -106 (Risking 2.12 units - To Win: 2.00)
