ASA's 5* CFB Pooch Pounding Game of the Week - Saturday
ASA - 5* Kansas +5 over Iowa State, Saturday at 6:00 PM CST
Not sure ISU is playing well enough to be favored over anyone on the road by nearly a TD. The Cyclones have lost 5 of their last 7 games with their only wins coming over Baylor & TCU. Their win over TCU was a perfect “upset” situation for them as the Horned Frogs starting QB, Casey Pachall, was suspended the week leading up to that game on drug charges. Pachall then checked himself into a rehab center and has not returned. That was a MAJOR distraction for TCU that week and on top of that they had to start a freshman QB, Trevone Boykin, who hadn’t really played and wound up throwing three picks in the ISU game. The Clones have been outgained in 6 of their last 7 games and they are -90 YPG on their season differential. Over that seven game stretch, ISU has been outgained by a total of 1,347 yards an average of 192 per game. Not a team you want to be laying points on the road with. KU has actually been quite competitive at home. They are just 1-4 SU at home but their loss margin in those 5 games is just 2 points. They led Texas here most of the way before losing by 3 (UT scored with under 20 seconds left to win). They lost here to a very good Oklahoma State team by just 6 points. This will be the Jayhawks “bowl game” so to speak as it is their home finale and there won’t be a post-season for this squad. They are coming off a road game at Texas Tech in which they were very competitive losing by a TD in overtime. KU has a very good rushing attack (213 YPG) with RB James Sims leading the way. Many believe he might just be the top RB in the Big 12. That running game should do very well again on Saturday against an Iowa State defense that has allowed 185, 177, 210, 188, 115 (to a pass happy Baylor team), and 222 yards rushing their last 6 games. They were destroyed @ Texas last week and now must travel again. Kansas has shown some fight at home against very good teams and we think they get the outright win here on Senior Day. The dog has covered 4 in a row in this series and Kansas has won 13 of the last 20 outright. Take the points with Kansas
