OC Dooley:
“2 UNIT” UPSET OF THE DAY (Cowboys +3’ at Bengals in a 1:00 eastern kickoff): To make a long story short last Sunday evening in primetime the Cowboys basically saved their season and still hold out hopes of grabbing a spot in the playoffs. Most reading this analysis are aware that Dallas failed to cover the spread last Sunday evening due to a fluke 97 yard punt return for touchdown by Philadelphia in what could be described as “garbage time” in a blowout. Dallas is coming off consecutive National-TV appearances against “divisional” opposition but today that is NOT the case as they go out of conference and also out of the glare of nationally televised attention. While quarterback Tony Romo continues to put up big numbers the Cowboys offense now has BALANCE with the return of running back DeMarco Murray who had missed six games with a sprained ankle. Last Sunday in his grand return Murray ran for 83 yards behind a fortified offensive line that has gotten back the services of injured center Ryan Cook along with a tackle. The location of today’s game is critical as all 4 of the “spot” wins by Dallas this season have come on the ROAD. Meanwhile during the long reign of Marvin Lewis as head coach, the Bengals have had problems handling prosperity. Long term when off outright wins in 4 of 6 contests, Cincinnati has gone a money-burning 3-14 ATS
