3-Unit Play. #533 Take Arkansas +9.5 over Mississippi (Saturday @ 1:30 pm est)
As with the plays below, oddsmakers seem to put too much emphasis on home teams and whether or not they should be big favorites. We know Arkansas can bring it at home. I'd like to think this is a game on the road where the Hogs can come to play. Both teams want to push the tempo and get the score in the 80s, so in that sense Arkansas won't be intimidated by the feel of the game. Seven of the last eight games for the Razorbacks have gone their way. I'm not sure if they win this one, but I certainly see a cover for the road team here against Ole Miss.
3-Unit Play. #573 Take Southern Methodist +9 over UTEP (Saturday @ 4 pm est)
These Mustangs are very capable of winning this game outright. UTEP shouldn't really be laying this heavy of a number to most teams, and especially not to one that has a better record than the Miners. The road team has really done well in past meetings when these two teams clash, and this should be another example of the squad catching the points cashing at the betting window. SMU also has a little sense of urgency on their side as they look to scramble to avoid further dropping the the Conference USA standings. The underdog comes through here for us.
3-Unit Play. #575 Take Syracuse +7 over Louisville (Saturday @ 4 pm est)
I know James Southerland is out for the 'Cuse, but I am still convinced Syracuse has a great shot to win this one outright. Plus, no one team has really last long atop the national rankings, so this very well could be the continuing of a trend for the top team to lose. Plus, I just never was one to buy into Louisville being as good as others throughout to begin the season. Syracuse are well coached and their 2-3 zone should do well to keep an athletic team settling for jump shots the entire game. Give me the Orange over the Cardinals.
3-Unit Play. #593 Take Marquette +6.5 over Cincinnati (Saturday @7 pm est)
With Cashmere Wright out for the Bearcats, this is too many points to be laying to a Marquette team that gets up and ready for every single game behind its quality coach Buzz Williams, who prepares his team as well as any coach in the country. Cincinnati isn't a good as their record suggests, and something to me tells me the home team is being well overvalued, especially down one of the team's best players. Marquette is a live dog here, and we'll get on them and the number in this Big East match-up.
3-Unit Play. #669 Take Gonzaga -3 over Butler (Saturday @ 9 pm est)
Without Rotnei Clarke this game seems evident to go the way of the WCC's Gonzaga Bulldogs. I know Butler at home is a tough out, but they are without their best player and so they just aren't the same team that pasted North Carolina in Maui early in the season or the team that beat Indiana. Gonzaga have far more weaponry to score the basketball and I think they will be very well prepared behind head coach Mark Few for this late non-conference match-up. The 'Zags might just run away with this one.
