3-Unit Play. #511 Take Michigan State (+6) over Wisconsin (Tuesday @ 7 pm est)
Right now Michigan State is getting it done. Winners of five straight and nine of its last ten games, you'd have to say Tom Izzo's Spartans are the better team coming into this game in Madison against Wisconsin. I know the Badgers are a tough out at the Kohl Center, but Sparty is clicking and is showing to be a tough out themselves at the moment. Of course Wisconsin should be favored but not by this many. I think Michigan State can win this game, and in what should be a half court game typical of the Big Ten, the points could easily come through in a slowed down game played in the low 60s. Plus, we've already seen home court go to waste several times in big league games the past week. Michigan blasted Minnesota and Wisconsin beat Indiana. Here I think Michigan State can contend for an outright winner. Take the points and the Spartans.

3-Unit Play. #57 Take Philadelphia Flyers -105 vs. New Jersey (Tuesday @ 7:35 pm est)
Philadelphia saw its Stanley Cup aspirations come to an end as New Jersey recorded four straight victories in the second round en route to skating to the final against Los Angeles. The Devils won the playoff series in five games after the Flyers seized a (3-2-1) edge in the regular season. Philadelphia was far from impressive between the pipes as Goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov was wildly inconsistent on and off the ice last season. To add to the back end, the Flyers acquired defenseman Luke Schenn from Toronto in exchange for forward James van Riemsdyk. They also signed forward Ruslan Fedotenko and defenseman Bruno Gervais. The Flyers had the league-high (16) players having competed in Europe during the lockout. The Flyers have opened the season with two straight losses for the first time since 2008-09, so expect the club to take a must-win approach at Prudential Center in Newark.

Robert Ferringo's Picks For NHL Hockey

5-Unit Pick Take Over (5.5 ) San Jose at Edmonton (10 pm, Tuesday, January 22)
Note: This is our "Total of the Week"
This game is basically a veteran hockey in San Jose vs a youthful Edmonton Oilers team that will be playing in their home opener. The Oilers in my opinion are building powerhouse, these team has so much young talent it is almost unfair except for the fact that they have done a lot of losing to acquire that talent. This team will put the puck in the back of the net a awful lot this season and playing tonight in front of this crowd should have this building jumping and provide both teams with plenty of emotion. Both are playing their second game of the year, both teams first game kind of mirrored one other, both cameout slow but picked up the pace as the game went on. While the Oilers made improvements to their defense it's just not the strength of this team, San Jose will be physical instead of finesse style of hockey but this team will create offence. I expect plenty of chances in this one and while the 5.5 total maybe right the under money that is attached is not. If this total is set at 5.5 you should be laying a 1.30 to go over here and I could make a case that this number should be 6 under minus money. Big edge.

1-Unit Pick Take #54 Carolina (-1.40) over Tampa Bay (7 pm, Tuesday, January 22)

Tampa Bay finds themselves in a tough spot for many reason here, for one this will be their third game in four day's after losing 4-3 to the Islanders falling behind 3-0 before using a lot of energy to get back in that game. Tampa didn't looked good on the defensive end, giving up multiple breakaways and two on one's. Not a good spot to face a talented Carolina squad that just came out flat in their first game at Florida and yanked goalie Cam Ward to rest him for this one. Carolina should have it together here tonight and play inspired hockey. This would have been more but missed the opener of 1.35 and as of this writing has moved up more.
That is it for today, Thanks and Good Luck.
