              771 UTEP -2.0(-110) Bookmaker.com vs 772 UAB double-dime bet

Analysis: Texas El-Paso is 8-1-1 ATS in its last 10 games while Alabama-Birmingham is struggling with a six-game losing streak. The Blazers have yet to cover in any of their six Conference USA games.

The Blazers are 3-13 ATS in their la ÃŒst 16 games versus foes with a winning straight-up record. The Miners have been on the road since beating East Carolina this past Saturday. But sources tell me this is good as the Miners are focused and have had good practices during the past three days.

                  3 Unit Play. Take 2553 Chicago -125 over Minnesota (8:05 p.m., Wednesday January 30)
The Chicago Blackhawks will look for their seventh straight win to start the season when they travel to take on the Wild tonight at the Xcel Energy Center in Minnesota. The Hawks come into the contest the more rested team as they haven't played since defeating Detroit on Sunday night while the Wild will be a bit tired as tonight will be their third game in four nights. Corey Crawford will get the start in goal once again for Chicago, looking to keep up his hot start to the season. He has posted a 5-0-0 record with an excellent 1.78 GAA and .936 save %. Crawford will be opposed by Niklas Backstrom, who will be starting the tail end of the team's back to back after defeating Columbus last night. Backstrom has struggled a bit this season, posting a GAA of 2.98 with a save % under .900. With their strong start to the season, Chicago has been very good in the spot they are in here tonight with the Wild. They are 6-0 in their last 6 games against teams from the Western Conference and have won 4 straight games on the road. They also have an excellent 4-0 record after allowing two goals or less in their previous game. The Wild, despite a huge off season spending spree have really struggled in the situation they are in here tonight with Chicago. They are just 4-13 in their last 17 games against the Central Division dating back to last season and have lost six of their last seven when playing in a third game in four nights situation. Pair that with the fact that the Blackhawks have won four of their last five trips to Minnesota and we'll lay the small price with them on the road tonight as they are the better team and should be much more rested than Minnesota tonight.

                    4-Unit Play. Take #711 L.A. Clippers (-4.5) over Minnesota (8 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 30)

I think the Clippers are set for a blowout tonight. They snapped a four-game losing streak their last time out. And I think that they will be sharp tonight on the road. Minnesota has several players coming back from injury. But they will be a little rusty. The Timberwolves will also have an added distraction of their coach returning after several weeks off. I don't expect the home team to be sharp tonight. The Clippers won by 13 in their last trip to Minnesota just two weeks ago. And they have won three straight in the series and are 7-3 ATS in the last 10 meetings. Lay the points with the much better team.

                      3-Unit Play #716 Take Brooklyn +2 over Miami (8 p.m. EST, Wednesday)

This is a very public line. The Nets should be a slight favorite here. The Heat are the definition of mediocre on the road at 10-10. They always get the benefit of the doubt from oddsmakers, as they are just 8-12 against the number in road games. They are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 road games. New Jersey is playing as well as any team in the NBA right now, and we feel like they will really be up for this game tonight. That is part of the reason why the Heat are struggling so much on the road. They have a huge bullseye on their collective back, and they normally get the best effort from the home team when visiting opposing arenas. And we think that will be the case tonight. The Nets are 13-4 in their last 17 games. They have beat plenty of playoff teams during that stretch as well. So why are they getting points tonight here at home, where they have a 17-7 record? Because the public will bet on the Heat no matter what the line. And the bookies know it. If there were no sharp bettors out there in the world the bookies would probably line this game at Miami -8 and call it a day. But since there is they need to set it in a way to minimize damage from the pros. Miami won the first two meetings, both in Miami, earlier in the season when the Nets were not playing as well. But that just sets this one up perfectly for the Nets to notch a big win in front of the home crowd.

4-Unit Play #711 Take LA Clippers -4.5 over Minnesota (8 p.m. EST, Wednesday)

We are just not high on Minnesota right now at all, and we think LA takes care of business in a big way here in this road contest. The Timberwolves are the first team to have really given up on the season. The word of Kevin Love's long-term absence from injury seems to have taken the wind out of this team's sails, and they have lost nine of 10 games, including a 13-point loss to this same Clippers team here in this same building. This team had some success early in the season on the strength of a defense that was playing very strong. But since this team has thrown in the towel, they have given up 100+ in seven of the last 10 games. It takes a lot of effort and intensity to play strong defense in the NBA. And because this team ?had it? earlier in the season and evidently does not any more, that just tells us that this Minnesota squad is just not putting in the effort. Plus, this team has struggled with injuries all season, and they have not had any stability in their rotation. They have been a mess, basically. And this Clippers team is one that can feast on a team like this. The Clippers have an offense that can really take advantage of a team that is slacking on the defensive side of the ball, and they have a defense which is one of the best in the league and they should hold this Minnesota offense in check. Yes, Chris Paul is likely still out for this game. But this team is the deepest in the league, and Eric Bledsoe is a very capable backup for Paul and would be a rising star on any other team. The Clippers have won three straight in this series and covered three of the last four, and we see those trends continuing in LA's favor tonight.

                      3-Unit Play #722 Take Denver -4 over Houston (9 p.m. EST, Wednesday)

Love this slim line at home for Denver. We think the Nuggets are a team on the rise, and we think this is a team that could do some damage in the playoffs. They are going to be a team in the Western Conference that nobody is going to want to play, that's for sure. They play the same game as Houston, up-tempo, fast-paced and lots of scoring. But we think this team is much better than the Rockets. Denver has the ability to play defense, and that is what sets these teams apart. Houston has had success because they cam simply outscore other teams. We think that Denver can match them on offense, but they are more of a complete package because of their defensive ability. This spread should be closer to 7, in our opinion. This line is so slim because bookies are going with the revenge angle, but we think that angle is overblown for NBA handicapping. The Nuggets notched a 10-point win in Houston last week. All that shows us is that this team is that much better than Houston. Denver has won and covered the last five meetings, and we think that will be the case tonight as well.
