Revenge is always a decent motivation and that is what you have here with Brooklyn as they host Chicago. Brooklyn fell short by 1 point on the road to Chicago earlier this year by a score of 83-82. Brooklyn will likely want to return the favor as they face them at home. And although revenge is not the only reason to back a team, bear in mind that Chicago comes off a very impressive win over Milwaukee on the road as they got plenty of bench production including over 20 points by Nate Robinson. When you take that into account, having a let down here on the road at Brooklyn is a possibility especially since Carlos Boozer is questionable for this game. Plus, Brooklyn was hammered by the Heat in part due to Reggie Evans not being able to keep his mouth at peace with the fact that Lebron and company did win a championship shortened season or not. With Brooklyn coming off a 20 point loss, the motivation there for PJ to get his team to play well against the better teams in the league, with the Bulls on a possible let down and Brooklyn having revenge all play a role into Brooklyn likely picking up a win here at home on Friday Night. This team covered the spread they face today against Atlanta, Toronto, Indiana and Orlando and I think they can do that against a Bulls team that has not covered back to back games since January 4th and January 7th.

Chicago will try to bounce back from its first loss of the season as it continues its six-game road trip, but the real story lies on the opposite bench, where presumed backup and trade bait Roberto Luongo is making the Canucks' goaltending situation far more complex than had been expected before the season. Playoff flameouts have ascended to an art form for the Vancouver Canucks and goaltending has been a key to the lack of success. Chicago General Manager Stan Bowman worked hard to add more heart and grit to a lineup that desperately needed it. HC Joel Quenneville has a defense considered one of the best in the NHL. The defense features the elite, shutdown tandem of Duncan Keith and Brent Seabrook. The acquisition of veteran D Steve Montador adds plenty of toughness to the back end and he plays alongside the steady Niklas Hjalmarsson. The biggest offseason news for the Blackhawks could be the return to full health of star forward Marian Hossa. He along with many Blackhawks are fueling the Chicago offense, but you'd be hard-pressed to find someone contributing more than Toews, who has three goals and an assist in his last four games. The Blackhawks are (8-3) in their last (11) Friday games, (6-1) in their last (7) road games and (8-2) in their last (10) games playing on 1 days rest. Blackhawks get a road win at the Rogers Arena, Vancouver, British Columbia to get back on their winning ways.

The Ottawa Senators carry a 5-1-1 record into Carolina who sits at 2-3 since their home loss on Monday to Boston. The Senators will be without the services of top center Jason Spezza for the third straight game. Ottawa is at the top in the NHL with 24 goals with 13 different players scoring so while losing Spezza hurts this team has talent that can carry the load. Ottawa however has won the last two despite being out shot in each game against Montreal and Washington and they were very lucky to win that game against the Capitols. When you look at who the Senators have played only Pittsburgh and Tampa stands out, they opened the season against Winnipeg then played Florida twice and the last two
games where they were out played a bit. I think this Carolina team is if not the deepest team in the east they would be second, it will take some time for this team to gel but they're getting with every game and four of their five opponents they have played are quality teams. Carolina has played just once in the last seven days while Ottawa comes in here playing their third in four days and their fifth in the last eight days. Too much Carolina here and this price doesn't reflect it.
