Indian Cowboy's Picks For NBA Basketball

We will look to have a solid day in the NBA today. We put a winning month in January and December and we will look to make it a strong push to make it 3 straight winning months in a row.

4-Unit Play. #502. Take Over 209 Houston vs. Washington (Saturday @ 7pm est).

Indian Cowboy's Picks For NHL Hockey

4-Unit Play. #60. Take Detroit Red Wings -130 over Nashville (Saturday @ 7:05 pm est)
The Barry Trotz system, (the only one ever employed by the Nashville franchise in its 15 years of existence), is so well-ingrained that the Preds can play it with their eyes closed, mucking up action at mid-ice and taking advantages of opportunities as they present themselves (which contributed to allowing more shots than attempted last season not characteristic of a playoff team). The Predators are (1-4) in their last (5) Saturday games and come into the Motor City's Joe Louis Arena having won a (4-3) overtime decision on their home ice this week against Detroit and they just played a very physical game last night at home against powerful Vancouver. Detroit Red Wings coach Mike Babcock and his team was eliminated in last year's playoffs in the opening round by Nashville (4) games to (1). When it comes to scoring production Detroit puts a lot of pucks on net as it is tough to stop than the Wings with the likes of Pavel Datsyuk, Henrik Zetterberg, Johan Franzen, Valtteri Filppula and a host of others dominating puck possession. Forward Pavel Datsyuk is one of the hottest forwards in the league and the Detroit Red Wings are a different team on their home ice in "Hockey Town"

                  triple-dime bet 619 Missouri 1.5 (-110) Bookmaker.com vs 620 Kentucky

Analysis: I think Missouri wins this game guys! I am as critical of this team as anyone, no question about it. Causes some friction at times with my own network of local friends. But as a handicapper with people betting their hard earned money on my opinions, not to mention my own, I cannot afford the luxury of being a homer. I follow the team closely, attend numerous practices and maintain some contacts who can often be great resources. My long term clients know full and well I call it the way I see it when it comes to the Tigers. We cashed with them on the Triple against the Florida Gators when they got the outright earlier this week. I saw something in that game that caught my attention. Every season a team has a moment of clarity. It's a stretch in a certain game where how they respond can define the outcome of their remaining season. I think perhaps Mizzou had that moment against Florida. In the second half they were finding themselves down by double digits at home to a great team that had waxed them a few weeks earlier by over 30 points. Many teams would have folded like a cheap suit under the circumstances. Florida was hitting on all cylinders and a Tiger comeback seemed bleak. Tigers head coach Frank Haith, never known to be much of a screamer, gave his players hell in a timeout and demanded to know just how badly his players wanted to win this game? When his players stared at their shoes he once again demanded an answer. It was one of those moments and his team responded. For the first time all year they believed, and they also defended with a purpose. The bottom line is they grew up, as a team. The light went off. They reached down and scratched and clawed their way to a huge win. Will there be a letdown this week at Kentucky? We're dealing with kids so anything is possible. However I think the Tigers will impose their will in this game and refuse to lose. The SEC officiating that tilts to the favor of the home clubs is always a concern, not going to BS you guys. But I think that regardless, the Tigers are the right side here. From what I have observed this Wildcat team has struggled this year containing top notch point guards, well the Tigers Phil Pressey is likely the best they have had to contend with yet. I also expect Missouri to win the battle on the glass. Kentucky will have to play with a passion and fire I am not certain they can muster up at this point. And I do not think Missouri will be over confident because #1 they know they have struggled on the road, and #2 they are playing in Kentucky for the first time as a member of the SEC. They absolutely will respect Rupp Arena and those blue uniforms that say Kentucky on them. The Tigers can sometimes become a bit too cocky and arrogant, they respected their opponent against Florida and we saw how they responded. I say they still respect Kentucky. Okay guys, you can clearly see where this is going. I do like Mizzou to take care of business on the road here. Triple Star on the Tigers. Now guys, I know it's a huge weekend with tons of action. I implore you to maintain self discipline and money management. My regular clients know I loathe and despise the word lock. That ignorant term has gotten too many guys in deep trouble over the years. It's a myth fellas. I like this game like all Triples, but it's no guarantee. It just isn't. Okay, many sincere thanks as always. Let's cash this baby. Good luck to us and enjoy the game!

                    NHL

                    Saturday, February 23

Around the rink: Saturday's NHL betting notes

New Jersey Devils at Washington Capitals (+106, 5)

Probable starting goaltenders: Johan Hedberg (NJ), Braden Holtby (WSH)

One of the schedule quirks of the shortened season is the rare two-game series at the same venue. After dropping a 3-2 decision at home to the New Jersey Devils on Thursday, the Washington Capitals will get an immediate chance for revenge when they host the Devils again Saturday. Washington looked like it was starting to turn things around with a three-game winning streak last week but has totaled three goals in back-to-back losses while letting goaltender Braden Holtby get peppered by a combined 77 shots. The Devils are 5-0 in the last five meetings.

Winnipeg Jets at Philadelphia Flyers (-129, 5.5)

Probable starting goaltenders: Ondrej Pavelec (WPG), Ilya Bryzgalov (PHI)

The Winnipeg Jets began their five-game road trip with two wins and will look for a third Saturday. The Jets have won in their last six trips to Philadelphia, including four wins when they were the Atlanta Thrashers. Philadelphia beat the Jets 3-2 in Winnipeg on Feb. 12 and the over is 4-1 in the Flyers’ last five overall.

Phoenix Coyotes at Edmonton Oilers (+102, 5)

Probable starting goaltenders: Mike Smith (PHX), Devan Dubnyk (EDM)

Phoenix Coyotes goaltender Mike Smith stopped 30 shots Monday for his third shutout in his last eight starts. On Saturday, Smith and the Coyotes visit the Edmonton Oilers, who have had trouble scoring as of late, with only four even-strength goals in their last four games. To make matters worse for the Oilers, top playmaker Taylor Hall has been suspended for the team’s next two games for a knee-on-knee hit earlier in the week. The Coyotes are 5-0 in their last five trips to Edmonton.

Colorado Avalanche at Los Angeles Kings (-173, 5)

Probable starting goaltenders: Semyon Varlamov (COL), Jonathan Quick (LAK)

The Avalanche increased their winning streak to five games over the Kings with a 3-1 victory on Jan. 22. Colorado has struggled on the road (2-5-0), but may receive a boost with the possible return of captain Gabriel Landeskog. The reigning Calder Trophy winner has been sidelined for 11 games with a concussion. The Kings are starting a stretch where they play 13 of their next 16 in Tinseltown. The reigning Stanley Cup champions have played only four contests (2-1-1) at the Staples Center this season. The under is 4-0-2 in the last six meetings.

New York Islanders at Buffalo Sabres (-125, 5.5)

Probable starting goaltenders: Evgeni Nabokov (NYI), Ryan Miller (BUF)

Buffalo suffered its third straight loss and fifth in six outings with a 3-1 setback to Toronto on Thursday, but the Sabres can hang their hat on a 3-2 triumph over the Islanders on Feb. 9. Islanders G Evgeni Nabokov struggled in his last outing versus Buffalo, stopping 12 of 15 shots to drop to 4-4-1 in his career against the franchise. The Sabres are 1-6 in their last seven vs. a team with a losing record.

New York Rangers at Montreal Canadiens (-128, 5)

Probable starting goaltenders: Henrik Lundqvist (NYR), Carey Price (MTL)

The Rangers will be without top-line forward Rick Nash for a third consecutive game. Nash, who is nursing an undisclosed injury, missed the teams' earlier meeting at Madison Square Garden - an aesthetically challenged 3-1 victory by the Canadiens on Tuesday. The venue now shifts to the Bell Centre, where Montreal has won its last six meetings and eight of nine (8-0-1) with its Original Six rival. The under is 4-1 in the Habs’ last five overall.

Toronto Maple Leafs at Ottawa Senators (+102, 5)

Probable starting goaltenders: Ben Scrivens (TOR), Ben Bishop (OTT)

The injuries keep piling up for the Senators. Ottawa lost G Craig Andersonto an ankle injury in a 3-2 win over the Rangers Thursday, so Ben Bishop will be between the pipes for the Sens. In spite of all the injuries, the Senators have won three in a row. The Maple Leafs have also adjusted to injuries, with goaltender Ben Scrivens settling into the starting job while James Reimer recovers from a strained MCL. Scrivens stopped 34 shots to earn his first career shutout when the Senators visited the Maple Leafs last Saturday. The under is 4-0 in the last four meetings.

Tampa Bay Lightning at Carolina Hurricanes (-120, 6)

Probable starting goaltenders: Anders Lindback (TB), Dan Ellis (CAR)

The Lightning has won five times in their last six trips to Carolina, including a 4-1 triumph on Jan. 22. The Hurricanes have followed a 5-0-1 stretch with two straight losses. Backup goalie Dan Ellis is expected to start against his former team. Ellis is 3-1-0 in four starts with a 1.74 goals against average and .943 save percentage. The Lightning are 8-1 in their last nine vs. Southeast foes.

Nashville Predators at Detroit Red Wings (-140, 5)

Probable starting goaltenders: Chris Mason (NSH), Jimmy Howard (DET)

The Detroit Red Wings look to snap their five-game winless streak when they host the Central Division-rival Nashville Predators. Detroit has gone 0-3-2 since posting a 3-2 home victory over the Los Angeles Kings on Feb. 10. After totaling nine goals over its previous two games, Nashville went cold offensively Friday and suffered a 1-0 home loss to the Vancouver Canucks. The Predators have been involved in five shutouts over their last nine games, going 3-2-0 in those contests. The under is 6-0-1 in the last seven meetings in Detroit.

Columbus Blue Jackets at St. Louis Blues (-215, 5.5)

Probable starting goaltenders: Sergei Bobrovsky (CBJ), Jaroslav Halak (STL)

St. Louis took a hit Friday when rookie Vladimir Tarasenko was placed on injured reserve with a head injury. That will put more pressure on Alexander Steen, Chris Stewart, T.J. Oshie and company to help pull the Blues out of their offensive funk. The Blues own the league’s best power play, but have not scored with the man advantage in any of the last three games. The visiting team has taken three straight and six of the last nine in the series.

San Jose Sharks at Dallas Stars (-140, 5)

Probable starting goaltenders: Antti Niemi (SJ), Cristopher Nilstorp (DAL)

San Jose fell to 1-5-3 since opening the season with seven straight victories when it dropped a 2-1 decision to the Blackhawks in Chicago on Friday. The Sharks, who are 1-3-1 on their six-game road trip, have earned at least one point in eight straight meetings (7-0-1) with the Stars. Dallas is looking to salvage the finale of its three-game homestand after falling 4-3 to the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday. The Stars have lost three of their last four overall. The Sharks are 4-0-1 in their last five visits to Dallas.

Minnesota Wild at Calgary Flames (-105, 5)

Probable starting goaltenders: Niklas Backstrom (MIN), Joey MacDonald (CGY)

Minnesota has climbed into second place in the Northwest thanks to a 4-1-1 stretch that includes a 3-1 road victory over the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday. Calgary is coming off its second consecutive loss, a 3-1 home setback against the Los Angeles Kings on Wednesday. Minnesota posted a 2-1 shootout victory over Calgary on Feb. 11 for its first road win of the season, but will be without F Cal Clutterbuck (thigh) for this one. The Flames are 1-5 in their last six home games.

                      NBA

                      Saturday, February 23

Rim rattlers: Saturday's NBA news and betting notes

Houston Rockets at Washington Wizards (+1.5, 208.5)

Playing shorthanded doesn't seem to faze the Houston Rockets, who posted a pair of impressive victories since the trade of four players on Wednesday. The Rockets have made 31 3-pointers in two wins over the Thunder and Nets. Much like Houston, the Wizards turned in an impressive offensive performance in Friday's 119-113 win over the visiting Denver Nuggets. Seven players scored in double figures and Emeka Okafor, John Wall and rookie Bradley Beal all notched double-doubles as Washington improved to 9-2 in its last 11 home games. The Rockets are 4-0 ATS in their last four games overall.

Denver Nuggets at Charlotte Bobcats (+9, 209)

The Nuggets will be looking to snap a four-game road losing streak when they visit the lowly Charlotte Bobcats. Charlotte is coming off a 30-point home loss to the Chicago Bulls on Friday that marked the third time in the last six games that the team had failed to reach even 80 points. The Bobcats own the worst home record in the league at 7-21. The under is 8-0 in the Bobcats’ last eight games following an ATS loss.

Cleveland Cavaliers at Orlando Magic (+5.5, 198)

Cleveland is beginning a three-game road trip and last played Wednesday when it defeated the New Orleans Hornets. The Cavaliers beat the Magic 119-108 on Feb 8. Orlando hopes to have newcomers Tobias Harris, Doron Lamb and Beno Udrih available against the Cavaliers. Udrih could see a lot of playing time with Nelson (knee) slated to sit out again on Saturday. The contest is the fourth in five nights for the Magic, who have lost four straight and 16 of 17 games. The over is 6-0 in the Magic’s last six Saturday games.

                      Miami Heat at Philadelphia 76ers (+7, 185)

The Heat will be looking to post their 10th straight win when they close out a four-game road trip in Philadelphia. The 76ers have lost three straight to fall 3 1/2 games behind the Milwaukee Bucks for the No. 8 spot in the Eastern Conference. Philadelphia has been held to an average of 84.6 points in seven games this month and was dominated on the boards in a loss at Minnesota on Wednesday. Miami is still the worst rebounding team in the NBA but is coming off one of its best defensive performances and has won each of its last six by double figures. The Heat are 6-0 ATS in their last six games overall.

Indiana Pacers at Detroit Pistons (+3.5, 188.5)

The Indiana Pacers have won their last three games by an average of 30 points and look to rout the Detroit Pistons for the second consecutive night when the teams meet Saturday in the Motor City. Indiana dominated Detroit from the outset on Friday while posting a 114-82 home victory. Pacers F Danny Granger (knee) traveled with the team and could make his season debut. Indiana is 10-1 ATS in its last 11 after scoring 100 points or more in its previous game.

Atlanta Hawks at Milwaukee Bucks (-4, 204)

Guard J.J. Redick will make his Milwaukee debut when the Bucks host the Atlanta Hawks. Although the Bucks hold a 3 1/2-game lead over Philadelphia for the final playoff spot in the East, they have been trending in the wrong direction, having lost two straight and eight of 10 to fall below .500. Hawks F Josh Smith averaged 24.3 points and 16.7 boards in three meetings with the Bucks last season and has five straight double-doubles against them. Atlanta is 5-1 ATS in its last six road games and Milwaukee is 0-6 ATS in its last 6 home contests.

                      Utah Jazz at L.A. Clippers (-9, 197)

The Los Angeles Clippers seek to bounce back from a disastrous showing when they attempt to finish off a four-game series sweep of the Utah Jazz. Los Angeles was outclassed by the San Antonio Spurs 116-90 in a nationally televised contest on Thursday in its first game since the All-Star break. Utah is well-rested and hasn’t played since defeating the Golden State Warriors 115-101 on Tuesday. The Jazz have won three straight games. The Clippers have averaged 109.3 points in their three victories over Utah this season.

                            Kansas -24 over TCU
Its payback time. I don’t understand how in the world TCU beat this Kansas team. Kansas just did not show up for that game, but at home they will not take this team lightly. TCU just can’t score on the road today and I don’t think Kansas shows any mercy today. Take the Jayhawks.

                            Kansas State -3 over Texas
What I have noticed from Texas is their lack of defense around the bucket. Good quality teams can bully their way into the bucket and score with ease. Kansas state is much more talented and should win this game with ease. Take Kansas State.

                            Rockets -2 over Wizards
Washington has been a covering machine this year, but they are not going to outscore this Houston team. Neither team plays great defense and once Houston starts scoring in bunches they should put this Wizards team away. Take Houston.

                            Missouri +2 over Kentucky
Missouri has lost some really close games on the road this year and really are a home team however I think Kentucky is vulnerable in this spot today without Noel in the lineup. Kentucky does not have the star power like last year and this is a spot can easily lose it at home. Take Missouri
