Indian Cowboy's Picks For College Basketball

Given that we are lifetime 60% in 7* Selections, that was probably one of the worst calls on my end on Southern Miss yesterday. We had great calls on Kansas, California and Southern Miss over La Tech. We'll look to bounce-back today and end the March Madness season on a high note:

4-Unit Play. #810. Take Under 127 Marquette vs. Miami of Florida (Thursday @ 7:15pm est).

These are two defensive teams by nature and given the excitement and the unfamiliarity that these two teams have with each other, look for this game to likely go under the posted total. Jim Larranga is one of the best game planners in the league and he rightfully make get his first title at the rate his team is playing right now. Marquette is outside the top 200 when it relates to turnover margin and they face a Miami team that is top 20 defensively. Larranga is well aware of this and I would not be surprised to see this step up in a big way defensively similar to what Davidson did holding this team to sub 60 points. This is the same Marquette team that struggled to score 63 against South Florida, 67 against Seton Hall and 69 against St. Johns in overtime. Miami has held opponents to 49 and 59 points thus far this tournament. This is a senior laden Miami team and at the end of the day, they will look to lock down on Marquette and I trust Larranga and his defensive gameplan to do that. The Under is 6-2 in the Golden Eagles last 8 NCAA Games and the Under is 7-1 in the last 8 non-conference games for Miami. Look for Miami to dictate the pace of this game and to slow it down and that likely takes this game under the posted total.

Indian Cowboy's Picks For NBA Basketball

Nice win with the Kings Outright yesterday and we'll look to make it a 3-1 NBA week with a winner today.

      4-Unit Play. #804. Take Dallas -3.5 over Indiana (Thursday @ 8:30pm est).

Dallas remembers the 20 point loss at Indiana earlier this year losing 83-103 and I suspect that will be on there mind as they face them today. Indiana comes off a big win against Houston and I suspect they might find it tough sledding against a Dallas team that desperately wants to get back to .500 and who have yet to shave their beards until they do. Dallas comes off a win against the Clippers, Utah and Boston and look to make it 4 straight against an Indiana team that embarrassed them in Indiana earlier this year. In the NBA, it is about situations and when a team will step up given the right time and that time is likely now as Dallas looks to get back to .500 and likely won't face Indiana again this year (unless in the Finals which is unlikely) and will look to avenge their loss here and now. The Pacers are 6-15 ATS when facing a team with a winning home record on the road and the Mavericks are 4-1 ATS when facing a team with a winning percentage of greater than 60% overall.

Indian Cowboy's Picks For NHL Hockey

4-Unit Play. #14 St. Louis Blues -130 vs. LA Kings (Thursday @ 8:05 pm est)
LA returns almost its entire core of star players - playoff MVP Jonathan Quick, captain Dustin Brown, leading scorer Anze Kopitar, stud defenseman Drew Doughty and versatile second-line forwards in Mike Richards and Jeff Carter. The Kings are a handful this year and will have an entire season under head coach Darryl Sutter. The Kings are win-less at (0-6) in their last (6) Thursday games while the Blues are (4-1) in their last (5) home games at the Scottrade Center, St. Louis, Missouri. The Blues are one of the stingiest clubs in the league with the crease combination of Jaroslav Halak and Brian Elliott between the pipes. Ken Hitchcock's formula for winning is the same. It's three competitive center icemen, good depth on defense and great goaltending. That's what wins in the NHL. This young team can still grow, needs to stay healthy and learn from last season's sweep at the hands of the Los Angeles Kings, then they have a chance to raise the Stanley Cup for the first time in franchise history. Last meeting at the Staples Center the Blues had a three goal lead and fell apart and lost that game, the second this season to the Stanley Cup Champions. Not Tonight! Not on this ice! No sour notes played by the Blues this time!

15* NBA Thursday ATS ANNIHILATOR on Dallas Mavericks -3

The Dallas Mavericks have quietly gotten themselves in position to make one final run at the 8th and final playoff spot in the Western Conference. They have won three in a row, including Tuesday's victory over the Los Angeles Clippers, to get to within 1.5 games of the Los Angeles Lakers for 8th.

In fact, this team has been undervalued for a couple months now. That's evidenced by the fact that the Mavericks are 26-10 ATS in their last 36 games overall. This team clearly doesn't get the respect it deserves as it is playing as well as many of the top teams in the league right now.

Indiana comes in fatigued as it will be playing the second of a back-to-back and its 5th game in 7 days. That's a tough spot, especially considering it had to play the Houston Rockets last night, who play at a faster tempo than any other team in the league. The Pacers are in a letdown spot after their big win over the Rockets, and they're going to run out of gas tonight.

The Pacers are just an average team away from home this season, where they are 16-19 on the year. Dallas is a solid 21-14 at home this season. The home team has won four of the last five meetings in this series. The Pacers are 6-15 ATS in their last 21 road games vs. a team with a winning home record. Take the Mavericks Thursday.
