Hondo, who hit a trifecta Monday, came right back last night with nearly perfect Darvish and the Rangers, who assaulted the Astros to boost the bulging bankroll to 125 swans.
Tonight, Mr. Aitch will return to fun Citi for a 10-unit plunge with Harvey and the Metamucils. Also, he’ll take a shot with crafty Wily Peralta to baffle the Rockies — 10 units on the Brew Crew.
Game: Kansas City at Chicago White Sox (2:10 PM Eastern)
Pick: Kansas City +125 (moneyline)
The Chicago White Sox took a chance on oft injured Jake Peavy, with modest success. Peavy did well for awhile, but in the end he showed why he has become a journeyman pitcher. The Sox went 6-14 over his last 20 starts. One team that got a good look at him in those 20 games was Kansas City. The Royals pounded him, winning all three games he faced them. The total was 12 runs in 19 innings of work. The Royals will go with Ervin Santana, who has won 28 games over the last two seasons. Santana has a winning record against the White Sox in his career, while Peavy is just 4-7 vs. the Royals with an ERA of 4.85. Play the dog, and go with KC.
4-Unit Play. #525. Take Under 147.5 Santa Clara vs. George Mason (Wednesday @ 7pm est).
This is game two of this series as game one was won by Santa Clara at home by a score of 81-73 as they covered the 7.5 point spread. Santa Clara has covered its last 4 games overall but whenever these two teams hook back up there is more of a defensive intensity as these two teams are now familiar with each other. Plus, if George Mason has any shot at winning this game, it will be with their defense and their home crowd behind them. Santa Clara will not be able to put up 81 points as they did in their last contest as the defensive changes made by George Mason will be significant. Note that the Under is 7-2 in the Patriots last 9 games overall when they face a team with a road winning percentage of greater than 60%. Look for George Mason to be much more focused on the defensive end as they face each other for the second time and combine that with Santa Clara also being focused on the defensive end as game one is like the initial dance and now in game two of this best of three series, the games are more physical and combine that with teams making adjustments, look for this game to likely go under the posted total.

4-Unit Play. #509. Take Detroit Pistons +6 over Boston Celtics (Wednesday @ 7:35pm est).
The Celtics wore down noticeably last season despite the shortened schedule and going back to (82) games this year will be a major challenge for Doc Rivers to keep his guys fresh for the playoffs. This team has too many aging stars and the injury uncertainty is cause for concern as if Boston stays healthy this team is dangerous. As of right now the Boston Celtics are limping toward the playoffs. Tonight's match-up at the TD Garden, Boston, Massachusetts will be interesting as Boston has dropped the last four meetings by an average of (15.0) points. Respected veteran coach Lawrence Frank has added some stability to a messy situation in ?Motwon?. There are some nice pieces in Detroit, and Frank is the right man for the job. But this was the NBA's most dysfunctional team last season, and there are a lot of scars that needed to heal before they took another step forward. The Auburn Hills blueprint for success involves defensive intensity, rebounding, and keeping turnovers to a minimum, all elements in which Detroit has excelled in recent turnaround. With veteran Jose Calderon running the show, Detroit can be a dangerous team when everyone is clicking. The Celtics are (9-19-2) ATS in their last (30) Wednesday games while the Pistons are (4-1) ATS in their last (5) Wednesday games and (4-0) ATS in their last (4) road games. Boston is 2-6 ATS over its last 8 games and though they come back home and will be fired up to play this team, Detroit has a way of getting up to play Boston as they have beat them straight up twice. I'm not a huge fan of fading Boston as they return back home, but the Pistons are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road games and Boston is 0-4 ATS when they face a team with a straight up losing record of late.

4-Unit Play. #10. Take San Jose -143 over Minnesota (Wednesday @ 10:35pm est).
Sure San Jose is a heavy public favorite tonight but rightfully so. This is a team that has lost to Minnesota the last four times they have played them and look for some big revenge here at home. Minnesota does come off a 1-4 loss to St. Louis in which they will undoubtedly look to bounce-back but the Sharks are sharp at home right now and have won their last 5 contests in a row. For as good as the Wild are they are 1-7 of late when they face a team with a winning record and the Sharks are 4-0 when they face a team with a winning record and they are 5-0 when they face Western Conference teams to boot. I like the Sharks here with revenge, given that they are playing well at home and their overall record against winning teams of late compared to the Wild.

3-Unit Play. #908. Take Atlanta Braves -133 over Philadelphia Phillies (Wednesday @ 7:10pm est).
The Braves face Halladay and as much as I am a fan of Roy Halladay, the fact that he has only been throwing around 87 mph this spring is indicative that the future Cooperstown caliber pitcher is likely on the tail end of his career. Sure the Phillies can bounce-back from a loss in game one but the Braves and their new look lineup looked strong on opening day. It is no surprise that Halladay did not get the ball in game one as I think the Phillies are aware that he might be slipping overall as well and they look to reduce the pressure that he takes on this year and are changing his roles a bit. Note that Halladay tailed off at the end of last year and with a unimpressive spring training, I think he struggles a bit today against Atlanta. Combine that with Maholm finishing the year with a 3.29 era over his last 29 starts. Look for Maholm to start the season the right way in Atlanta as the Braves win their second game of the year today.
