Dr. Ed Meyer MLB Money Line Mon, 05/20/13 - 10:15 PM
double-dime bet 962 SFG (-134) vs 961 WAS
Analysis:
The Nationals have lost two straight and the Giants have lost three straight. San Francisco responds very well in this spot and the Nats do not. We'll lay this price.
Since May of 2012, the Giants are a perfect 14-0 when they are off a five-plus run loss in which they scored fewer than three runs and it is not the last game of a series. San Francisco has won these three games by an average of 3.00 runs per game.
In their last eight games in this spot, they have not allowed more than two runs in any game.
In his only start vs the Nationals, Vogelsong was hammered and the Giants lost 14-2. Fortunately, Mr Vogelsong is the most "revenge-minded" starter in the league in this spot, with a record of 14-2 as a favorite when facing a team that beat him in his last start against them - including 8-0 his last eight.
Washington was beaten badly in their last game and they are only 4-19 when their line is within 25 cents of pick and they are off a loss in which they left fewer than ten men on base and it is not the last game of a series - including 1-8 their last nine.
Finally, the Nats are 0-9 when their line is within 25 cents of pick in the first game of a road series vs a team that lost at least their last three games - as long as they are not on a three-plus game winning or losing streak.
Unfortunately for the Nats, they catch the Giants in a spot in which their starter and their team has performed extremely well. Lay the price.
6-unit Play Take #21 Chicago Blackhawks (-135) over Detroit Red Wings (7:35pm ET) The pucks drops on Game 3 tonight between the Chicago Blackhawks and Detroit Red Wings. This is a big one as the series heads back to Detroit tied up at 1-1. The Blackhawks were prohibitive favorites at the outset of the series and you can't let one game change your mind too much. Detroit beat the Hawks 4-1 in Game 2, but it was their first win against Chicago in nine previous tries. The Blackhawks have been the best team in hockey all season long and they've responded whenever they needed to. This is the biggest game of the year thus far and I expect them to come through once again. Take Chicago here as our 6-unit Game of the Month selection.
