                Wednesday, May 22

Miami is 9-1 in playoffs, with only loss in Game 1 to Bulls, would look for Heat to be anxious to get off to good start vs defensively-stout Pacer squad that beat New York in six games. Heat is 2-3 as home favorite in playoffs; over is 2-2-1 in their home games. Indiana beat Miami twice in three meetings this season, with home team winning all three. Heat won last meeting 105-91 (-6.5), only one played here- wouldn't put whole lot of stock in that, but its my job to tell you. Pacers are 2-4 on road during playoffs, with all four losses by 10+ points (2-4 as road underdogs).

Home teams are now 11-2 in this round of playoffs, under 7-3-3. Pittsburgh had a power play and 1-0 lead in last minute of Game 3, somehow gave up goal, lost in OT- they're 5-1 vs Senators this year, winning 2-1/4-2/3-1/4-1/4-3. Senators are 3-0 at home in playoffs, with two OT wins- they've only allowed four goals in those three games. Penguins won four of last five games overall, with only nine goals allowed since the switch to Vokoun in goal. Seven of last eleven series games went over total. Penguins were 0-6 on power play in Game 3, after being 3-10 in two home games. Senators are 0-10 on power play in series.

                            Wednesday MLB

Why we like the Reds on Wednesday at -103...the Reds are undervalued in this spot after winning their last 9 of 11 games as well as averaging 5 rpg while allowing 2 rpg during that span compared to the Mets who have lost their last 9 of 12 games while averaging 3 rpg and allowing 5 rpg during that span. The reason that the Mets are the early favorite in this one is because of the public perception of the Mets young phenom in Matt Harvey who brings his 5-0 record to match his 1.56 era into Wednesdays daytime matchup. The first area for concern with Harvey is that Wednesdays start will be the first time in 2013 that a team will be facing him for the second time, especially the hot hitting Reds. Along with that is the fact that Harvey's last two starts have come against the below average offensive teams in the Pirates and Cubs where he has seen his K totals decrease in May where as his Hits allowed totals have increased. A few more numbers of interest is the fact that Harvey has allowed just 3 HRs all season with all 3 of those coming on 4 days of rest (which he will be on Wednesday) and two of those three HRs coming during the day. The Reds will be starting Mat Latos who comes into Wednesdays game with a 2-0 road record to match his 2.53 era. Latos has also posted good numbers during the day this season where he has a 3-0 record and a 3.82 era where he has allowed just 3 HRs through 30 innings of work. This Mets team has a combined 60 ABs off of Latos where they have a .200 average with just 1 HR. A few trends to keep in mind for Wednesdays game are that the Reds are 10-4 with a total of 7 or less while the Mets are 7-6 with a total of 7 or less. The Reds are 13-8 in day games while the Mets are 9-11 in day games. The Reds are 8-2 against the Mets over the last three seasons.

Play on the Reds at -103.

                              20* Pacers/Heat Game 1 No-Brainer on Indiana +8

I've believed that Indiana has been the most underrated team in the entire 2013 playoffs. Once again, the Pacers are undervalued in Game 1 of this series with the Miami Heat as a massive 8-point road underdog.

Miami could not have had an easier path to the Eastern Conference Finals. It got to face the only team in the playoffs with a losing record in Milwaukee, and it also played a depleted Chicago Bulls team that just simply did not have the talent to be competitive.

I believe that easy path is going to work against the Heat as they won't be ready for the fight they are going to get from Indiana in Game 1. They have basically just had to go through the motions to this point to win games, but that won't be the case against the Pacers.

Plus, Miami is going to be rusty coming into this one. The Heat have not played since beating Chicago 94-91 on May 15th. It had a big layoff after sweeping the Bucks on April 28th, and didn't get to start the Chicago series until May 6th. It would come out rusty and lose to the Bulls 86-93 at home in Game 1.

Remember, the Pacers took a 2-1 series lead in the playoffs against Miami last year before losing the last three. Also, the Pacers have won two out of three against the Heat this season. They simply match up well with Miami considering Paul George and Lance Stephenson are two of the most underrated defenders in the league.

Both George and Stephenson can check Lebron James and Dwyane Wade as well as anyone in the NBA. Plus, the Pacers have a big edge inside with Roy Hibbert and David West. They can exploit Miami's biggest weakness, which is its interior play.

The Pacers are 11-4 ATS in their last 15 games playing on 3 or more days rest. Indiana is 39-18 ATS after 2 straight games - attempting 10+ more free throws than opponent since 1996. The Pacers are 46-26 ATS in road games after 2 straight games where opponent was called for 25 or more fouls since 1996. Bet Indiana Wednesday.
