          NBA

San Antonio at Memphis (-5) 9:05 ET ESPN

          3% San Antonio +5

The Grizz showed they were not dead in the water in stepping up their defense in the 2nd half of Game #2 Tuesday night. But the eventual 93-89 San Antonio OT win speaks volumes about crunch time in this series. Zig-zag theory is all over the 0-2 Grizz on a court where they are 37-9 SU this season. Remember also that they are 11-1 ATS in their most recent 12 Playoff games. But just as the other Conference Final, odds are that each game will be closely contested in a series of evenly matched foes. For that reason, I believe the value lies with the veteran underdog Spurs taking the generous 5 ½ points.

          WNBA

NY Liberty at Connecticut Sun (-7-) 7:00 PM ET

          4% Connecticut Sun -7-

When last these 2 teams met, the Sun were sweeping the Liberty out of the Playoffs following the New Yorkers dismal 15-19 season. Welcome new GM/HC Bill Laimbeer who is bringing his defensive principles and NBA influenced offense to the Liberty. History is on his side as he captured 3 titles with Detroit in an 8 year run. Retaining only lead guard and high scorer Cappi Pondexter from the group of meaningful rotation players last year, Laimbeer has infused the roster with size and strength with hopes of success with defense and rebounding. They didn’t call Laimbeer one of the bad boys for nothing. The Sun also have a new leader as Mike Thiebault has been replaced by Hall of Fame Coach Anne Donovan. Unlike their rivals, the Sun, who went 25-9 in the regular season last year (15-2 on this court) will return all key components. That includes MVP Tina Charles, the league’s 6th POY in Renee Montgomery and the steadying hand of Kara Lawson to set the table (when she’s not behind the mike). Only the big body of Ashja Jones (OFY) is missing. Sun way ahead of the Liberty at this point in time and should emerge with a comfortable double digit victory to erase the bad taste in their mouths after the Playoff loss to Indiana.

          3% Tulsa Shock +8-

Sky Dig can’t drive her new white Mercedes (courtesy of Jay Z and Roc Nation) down the lane in the WNBA. In fact, Sky will find the going a lot tougher inside than in her years with the Fighting Irish. But the Tulsa addition of Candice Wiggins and Nicole Powell (both Stanford) to team with Diggins gives the Shock the most improved back court in the league. The perpetually missing 6’ 8” Liz Cambage is again doubtful with personal issues. For Atlanta, it was a disappointing 2012 after ascending to the Finals in consecutive years. The situation finally boiled over with 10 games in the regular season when only insiders know the real fallout between then HC Marynell Meador and Dream Star Angel McCoughtry. The bottom line is that Angel returned and Marynell was replaced by Fred Williams who led the Dream to a 7-3 regular season finish and has retained that position as head man. But the real story here remains the Shock who despite still gelling should have enough perimeter power to make a game of this well into the 4th quarter.

          MLB

LA Angels (Buckner) at Kansas City (Guthrie) (-120) 2:10 PM ET
          3% LA Angels (Buckner) (+110)

MLB authored a positive return on Friday night with a 3-2 evening running the record to 135-95. Indiana’s outright victory over Miami in the NBA Playoffs made it all the sweeter. For Saturday, there are 3 MLB games that are PayForPlay, the earliest of which begins at 4:00 PM ET. You will be sitting with a bundle of money by the time you make your play on the San Antonio/Memphis game tonight. As a FREE BONUS for purchasing that game today, I am offering both WNBA Games for free including my 1st 10* Play of the year in that league with strong plays 22-9 (71%) in the ladies loop last season, take advantage with the 3 for 1 Pro Basketball special.

In this game, we line up with the red hot Angels. Not in love with Buckner, who in 21 MLB starts, is 5-11 with a 6.63 ERA. But the rubberband has finally snapped for Guthrie after going 10-0 with a 2.21 ERA over 18 starts. Guthrie has busted in his last 2. In those games, he has allowed 11 runs in 12 IP. Current form is at last in favor of the underachieving Angels. LAA has now won 6 straight outscoring the opposition 47-18. In their last 15 outings, the Angels have averaged 5.5 RPG. After starting 17-10, KC has drifted back with a 4-14 slide including 3 consecutive defeats. Play the better team and hotter team as underdog.

Pittsburgh (Locke) at Milwaukee (Fiers) (-125) 4:10 ET
          3% Pittsburgh (Locke) (+115)

History prevailed in this matchup last night when the Brewers 2-1 victory boosted their series site record to 47-8 L6+Y. Yet the Pirates are the far superior team in better current form and with the better pitcher again tonight meaning we are bucking history once again. Even with last night’s win, Milwaukee is just 5-16 in the month of May being outscored 109-69. Following a 1-5 start, Pittsburgh remains 28-14 and 11-3 on the trot. For Milwaukee, Fiers fills in for the ailing Lohse to make it his 2nd start of the year. But Fiers has a 5.53 ERA for the season and a 6.14 lifetime ERA vs. Pittsburgh. Locke has been a real find for the Pirates. In his last 6 starts, he is 3-0 with a 1.70 ERA. In 4 starts on the road, Locke has a 1.80 ERA and 0.96 WHIP. We reduce the rating out of respect for history and the fact that Locke, like many other Pittsburgh pitchers, has a poor history against Milwaukee which shows him with a 7,20 ERA in a pair of starts.

St. Louis (Gast) at LA Dodgers (Lilly) (-110) 7:15 ET

          4% St. Louis (Gast) EVEN

Hard to believe that a $220 million dollar payroll cannot buy you any more than 3.4 RPG! But the 19-27 LA Dodgers have just those numbers and it is doubtful that Lilly is the answer. With a 5.63 ERA, Lilly comes off the DL with a strained rib cage. A bullpen with a 1.15 index, lowest in the Majors, implies that the St. Louis bats will again boom tonight. After the 7-0 whitewash on Friday, the Cards are now on a run of 17-5 in which they have outscored the opposition 110-67 using a .291 BA and timely hitting with RISP. Gast makes his 3rd start for the injured Westbrook. ST. Louis has won both of those outings in which Gast has not allowed an earned run in the first 5 innings of either game. Manager Matheny will keep a close watch on Gast, as in his 2 outings he has allowed a total of 6 runs in his 6th inning of work. Nonetheless, St. Louis with the best record in baseball and as underdog, is a no brainer in this matchup.

Minnesota (Walters) at Detroit (Fister) (-1 ½ runs -120) 4:05 ET

          4% Detroit (Fister) (-1 ½ runs -120)

Detroit 6-0 whitewash of Minnesota last night sent the Twins to their 10th consecutive defeat. In that span, they have been outscored 64-28 with a .219 BA and an 8.16 ERA for starters. That may not improve in this pitching matchup. In 12 starts last year, Walters went 2-5 with a 5.69 ERA. Today, he will be facing Fister who has been like gold on this mound. In his most recent starts at home, Fister is 9-1 with a 2.34 ERA. That includes 4-0 this year with a 3.00 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 22/3 KBB. Detroit has now won 4 straight, scoring 29 runs with a .345 BA. We continue to ride the Tigers who have 23/27 wins by 2+ runs including 13/15 on this field.
