3-unit Play Take #972 Tampa Bay Rays (-125) vs. New York Yankees (1:40pm ET) The Tampa Bay Rays host the New York Yankees today in an effort to avoid a three-game sweep. Somehow the Yankees have managed to stay atop the American League East division despite an onslaught of injuries on a weekly basis. They have had more players lost to injury than anyone else this season and it hasn't been close. Some of the guys they are relying on couldn't even make the rosters on bad teams, so I expect some regression from this team going forward. The Rays need this game badly and even moved up Alex Cobb in the rotation so that he could face the Yanks in this series. Cobb has been Tampa's best starting pitcher this season and is emerging as a star in this league. He comes in at 5-2 with a 2.73 ERA and 1.13 WHIP and boasts a strong 8.2 strikeout rate per nine innings. CC Sabathia goes for New York and he's clearly not the same pitcher as he has been in year's past. His velocity is down and so are his strikeouts. His ERA is the highest since 2005 for the 32-year old. Sabathia is still a good pitcher, but he has had trouble with good hitting teams and the Rays definitely fit that mold. I like Cobb and the Rays to get the win today.

1-Unit Play. #60. Take San Jose Sharks -125 over Los Angeles Kings (Sunday @ 8:05pm est).
The Los Angeles Kings may have surprised even themselves last spring by becoming the lowest-seeded team in history to win the Stanley Cup. Now, after a compressed regular season, during which they had their ups and downs, the Kings are poised to show they can do it again. But, unlike last spring, when the franchise had never won it all since entering the NHL in 1967, the Kings come into this year's Stanley Cup Playoffs as defending champions. The Los Angeles Kings and San Jose Sharks have been regular-season rivals for years, but this marks just the second time the California teams have met in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The defending Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings are (1-4) away from home this postseason while the San Jose Sharks are a perfect (4-0) on home ice against the Vancouver Canucks and Kings. HC Todd McLellan and his Sharks count on their goalie and special teams, both have been excellent, while the entire team seems focused, but they still haven't learned how to win on the road on a consistent basis and thus the currant (3-2) deficit in this series. The Home Team is (5-0) in this series and the Kings are just (1-10) in their last (11) road games but LA understands the importance of not allowing the series to go to a Game 7 on Tuesday night in Los Angeles. Home teams are winning (68.8) percent of their games during this year's playoffs. The Sharks won't beat themselves. Someone will have to outplay them in all phases of the game, which is easier said than done. With the Sharks home-ice success they've had all season, (19-2-5) at HP Pavilion, this is a still a dangerous team. Goaltender Antti Niemi won a Stanley Cup for the Chicago Blackhawks in 2010, and the Sharks called on him in almost every game of the second half. He has now started (28) in a row. At (30-12) in the playoffs, and with wins in seven of the nine series he's played, Niemi arguably is the best postseason goaltender in the NHL. He lived up to his Vezina Trophy nomination in the first-round sweep, posting a (1.86) goals-against average and (.937) save percentage and Niemi has allowed just four goals on (78) shots over the past three games for the Sharks. The Sharks have won at least one playoff round in six of the past eight years, which means they have other players (and a coach) with significant postseason experience. The Sharks experienced core of forwards such as Joe Thornton, Patrick Marleau, and Joe Pavelski can all score. The Home team is (18-6) in the last (24) meetings with the Kings just (10-27) in the last (37) meetings in San Jose and the Sharks are (40-17) in their last (57) home games. Do you know the way to San Jose?

7-Unit NBA Game of the Week #511 Take Miami -1.5 over Indiana (8:30 p.m. EST, Sunday)
We were on Indiana for Games 1 and 2 as we thought the bookies' lines were heavily staked against the Pacers. Now we feel like there is actually value with Miami here for Game 3. We were expecting this line to come out around 4.5 or 5, and we really think that is a more appropriate line here for Sunday. Miami is clearly the better team in this matchup. We predicted the Pacers would challenge them as big underdogs on the road, but now all the Heat have to do is basically win this game as a small favorite, and we think that they do just that tonight. The Heat have shown in these playoffs that they take some time to get ?heated up,? as they lost Game 1 to the Bulls in the second round before getting back on track and dominating that series. We think that this Game 2 loss was a wake-up call for the Heat, and they have to win one of these games - Game 3 or Game 4 - here in Indiana, and they will very possibly win both of them. We liked the Pacers early in this series because we thought that the lines they were getting represented value, but with this line we see that the value is gone, and it has switched the other way. Miami is still the clear-cut favorite to win this series, and we think they will regain home-court advantage here. And with this slim line, all they have to do is win the game and we are most likely golden with this slim line. There are not many times in a season where there is betting value on this Heat team, but this is one of them!
