Two of the league's most disappointing teams thus far, the visiting Houston Texans and the San Francisco 49ers look to reestablish themselves as Super Bowl contenders when they square off Sunday night. The Texans are only a game behind Indianapolis and Tennessee in the AFC South, but they're reeling after blowing a 17-point lead in the second half and losing 23-20 in overtime last week against Seattle. "You don't get to enjoy winning long enough and losing seems like it takes about a month for you to play again," Texans coach Gary Kubiak told reporters. "Just the disappointment, but you've got to move on."
Houston faces a tough task trying to turn things around with a prime-time road game against San Francisco, which has been wildly inconsistent, yet very impressive in its two wins. The 49ers returned from the brink of trouble with a 35-11 win at St. Louis last week, getting back track on both sides of the ball after back-to-back embarrassing losses to Seattle and Indianapolis. The defending NFC champions had their best game of the year running the ball and were dominant in holding the Rams to 188 total yards.
