      WINNING POINTS

      COLLEGE BASKETBALL

      Florida* over Kansas by 8
Not since 2008-’09, when they lost their only non-conference road game by 17 points
at Arizona, has Kansas gone through a season with only two kids averaging doubledigit
points, which is what they have right now with Perry Ellis and Andrew Wiggins.
      FLORIDA, 75-67.

Wisconsin-GB over Eastern Michigan* by 3

      Xavier* over Evansville by 8

      Indiana* over Oakland by 26

      Illinois* over Dartmouth by 23

Gonzaga over West Virginia* by 3
‘Let’s get physical,’ say Huggy Bear’s homers. ‘Do we have to?’ ask Mark Few’s visitors.
      GONZAGA, 69-66.

Kentucky* over Boise State by 9
Slowing it down and shooting 3s is how Calipari thinks opponents can beat Kentucky.
But Boise State likes to speed it up and shoot 3s, so they’d need to change who they
are and still play their best, which is hard to do.
      KENTUCKY, 80-71.

      California* over Nevada by 16
Where’s the tall Solomon kid for Cal?
      CALIFORNIA, 77-60.

        THE GOLD SHEET

        COLLEGE BASKETBALL

FLORIDA 71 - Kansas 64—Florida a bit nicked up, with PG Scottie Wilbekin
(ankle) the latest casualty. But not sure we are ready to trust KU side that
looked a bit disorganized and disinterested in the recent Paradise Jam in the
Bahamas, where ballyhooed 6-8 frosh Andrew Wiggins struggled mightily (just
11 for 30 FGs in three games). 12-DNP CABLE TV—ESPN

EASTERN MICHIGAN over Wis.-Green Bay by 3 to 5—12-DNP

XAVIER over Evansville by 7 to 10—12-DNP

INDIANA over Oakland by 13 to 16—12-DNP CABLE TV—ESPN2

ILLINOIS over Dartmouth by 16 to 19—12-DNP

WEST VIRGINIA 74 - Gonzaga 71—With WV aching for this rematch
following LY’s embarrassing 34-pt. debacle at Gonzaga, will side with the now
        more offensively-potent Mountaineers (85 ppg), who’re are converting 46.5%
from treyland. The replenishing Bulldogs (just 2 starters back) are playing only
their second game as a visitor this season, so look for WV’s nifty PG Juwan
Staten (7.6 apg; 4th nationally) to dictate the tempo in this MAJOR intersectional
        payback game. 12-GON -10' 84-50 CABLE TV—ESPN2

KENTUCKY over Boise St. by 11 to 14—12-DNP CABLE TV—ESPN

CALIFORNIA over Nevada by 12 to 15—12-DNP
