I don't think that Jazz Head Coach Tyrone Corbin is a good coach for several reasons, but at least
IMO he made the right decision to not start Favors and Kanter together as these two players are
way too similar to share big minutes on the floor (just like the dilemma Howard & Asik @HOU
earlier on the season).
Marvin Williams isn't a great player at all but his ability to spread the floor @PF position is working
for the Jazz right now as their offense looks more fluid. Marvin had a nice 4-game stretch in which
he shot 7-14 FG, 7-11 FG, 6-11 FG & 4-10 FG while hitting at least 2 treys in every game and the
Jazz defeated CHI, PHX & HOU in that stretch. Eventually he got injured, missed 4 games (all UTA
clear losses) and returned last game just to help the Jazz crush the Kings on the road.
With rookie PG Trey Burke running sharp pick n rolls & better floor spacing, the Jazz went from
having Off. Rtg = 96.1 in the first 16 games of the season vs. 114.3 in L8 games! They are not an
elite team but they aren't the same pathetic team that started the season.
Tonight they will catch a Nuggets team that enjoyed a nice 3-days rest after being on the road
for quite some time. I took them in L3 games (@BOS, @PHI & @WAS) just because they were
facing some favorable matchups and their superior depth was a premium factor that really helped
them to win the last 2 games. However, although I won L2 plays w/ them I have to say that they
looked awful (especially their starting unit) and they were able to win b/c PHI is a terrible team
and the Wizards were seriously shorthanded for that game.
I understand that Ty Lawson didn't play in the last 2 games and he is probable for tonight's game,
but I think the Nuggets right now are a bit overrated and probably way too much confident, while
the Jazz are playing their best basketball of the season with all players healthy.
The Nuggets already faced the Jazz this season and crushed them @UTA 100-81 but that was
the time where John Lucas III was starting for the Jazz and playing 34 minutes…. Enough said!
My fair line for this contest is DEN-6/-8 points so we have some edge on the Underdog getting
double digits points and therefore I'm taking the Utah Jazz as my Single Dime Play!

3-Unit Play. #831. Take Elon College +14 over Colorado (Friday @ 8:30pme est).

Beating the University of Kansas is a big deal and for Tad Boyle's team to do it at home in front of a raucous crowd is great for the program. But, this sets up for a bit of a let down game in their next contest against Elon who comes in just as a 14 point underdog. Normally after such a big win against a top flight program, you would see at least 17 or 18 here but there is just a 14 point lay here which says that Elon is expected to be an active underdog in my book. Colorado is primarily a defensive team and their offensive efficiency is around top140 and their turnover percentage is about top 110 in my book. So, you have a squad that is primarily a defensive team on a short total number which can cause for a much bigger defensive and low scoring contest where the 14 points become much more significant than let's say if the total was higher. Matt Matheny's Elon Phoenix team has their work cut out for them today for sure. But, bear in mind that I like a late cover here even possibly a backdoor as this is a great public fade on a Friday Night, the last game on the board essentially and with everyone taking the sexy Colorado selection after the big Kansas win, I like the let down and the likely downfall of the public today. Elon is led by a couple of seniors such as Troutman and Beaumont which should help stabilize some jitters as this team did post a top 30 field goal percentage in the country and has won 3 straight and played Drexel very close. I have this game as an 9-11 point loss so the 14 point differential is worth it for us to move forward. If you wait on this, I suspect you can get 14.5 or better as the public will likely continue to take the favorite as the day moves forward.

3-Unit Play. #814. Take Oklahoma City -13 over LA Lakers (Friday @ 8pm est).

I'm not a huge fan of laying such a heavy favorite but I think its noteworthy as the Thunder are out to set a statement and they have consistently done it all year. I think this team is aware this might be the last time Durant hangs around before he entertains the possibility of joining Harden and Howard in Houston. The Thunder have been laying the beat down on some quality teams at home including beating the Pacers by 24 and beating Memphis on the road by 16. With Kobe still hobbled a bit from the injury and still not trusting it (jumping off 2 feet for the dunk on the basline recently) and with the Lakers still not in sync with Kobe back in the lineup, I like OKC to take the contest today by a wide margin as I have tehis game at about 18 which is about 5 off the line. Plus, with the majority of the public on the Lakers it makes more sense in my book that they will likely gget buried as there is a reason why this line is set as high as it is. If the Lakers were truly going to be competitive, I would believe the line would e around 7.5 or so and not 13 as it is now. I like the Thunder to win and keep rolling today as they have done all year a it will take a few more games for the Lakers to fall into sync with Kobe back in the lineup.

5-Unit Play. #53. Take Over 5.5 Washington vs. Florida (Friday @ 7:30pm est).

The Black Cats from Florida sit near the bottom of the Atlantic Division having allowed (106) goals. That is some bad news as the Capitals have scored (14) goals in their last three games. Add to that fact that Goaltender Tim Thomas, who has started (15) of the team's last (16) games, left practice early Thursday and is considered questionable to start against Washington due to an undisclosed injury. The Over is (4-1) ATS in the last (5) meetings in Florida. Alex Ovechkin led the NHL with (32) goals, including (19) in that season-ending stretch and Ovi is red hot at the moment. First-year head coach Adam Oates did a nice job of bringing together this team last season and with the core remaining intact, there's reason to believe the Caps can take another step forward in 2013-14. With the split being 72/28 on most consensus polls I like Florida to be an active underdog here and likely send this game over the posted total. These two teams played in Washington earlier this year and Florida was solid losing 2-3 in overtime and I suspect with home ice, they will push this game over this evening as this is likely to be a 4-3 or 4-2 type of contest. Florida has done better scoring goals at home such as 5 against Wininpeg and most recently 3 against Detroit, don't be surprised to see this one go over the posted total this evening. Note, the Over is 7-3 for the Capitals on a couple days rest and the Over is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings in Florida as I like the Panthers as a quality active underdog on a limited card on a Friday Night to step up to send this game over the posted total.
