    College Bowl

    219 Syracuse +4.5

    Take: (222) BYU +3.5
Two radically different sets of circumstances will be in play tonight as Washington squares off
against BYU in the Fight Hunger Bowl in San Francisco. I see those as the keys to finding the
    winner in this duel.
I see the intangibles being vital here, and that’s where I swing to the BYU side. These have been
a very turbulent last few weeks for the Huskies.
Their head coach said so long to Seattle and moved to a new job in the same conference. The defensive line coach is under investigation for
what appear to be some serious rules violations. He’s denying the charges, but it’s nevertheless
not an ideal scenario. Plus, I’m just not sure how excited the Huskies are about this game.
The entire BYU staff’s focus is on this game, with all nine assistants slated to remain in Provo next
season. Plus, Washington can be run on and that’s what the Cougars like to do best.

      ALLEN EASTMAN
      3-Unit Play. Take #217 Marshall (-2.5) over Maryland (2:30 p.m., Friday, Dec. 27) - Military
      Bowl
Marshall will be much more excited about this game than Maryland. These two schools are not
that far away from one another and the Thundering Herd will want bragging rights. They look
forward to a chance to knock off an ACC school and the fact that the CUSA rep is favored in this
game tells me a lot. This same Marshall team almost beat Virginia Tech earlier this year in
Blacksburg. Maryland has only won two games since mid-October and this is another a strong
team at all. They have no motivation and I think they will lose to end another disappointing
      season.

Feels like a loose game here and one with lots of tempo. Made it 66 with best totals model.

Indian Cowboy's Picks For College Basketball

3-Unit Play. #833. Take Lafayette +12.5 over Seton Hall (Friday @ 8pm est).

On a Friday Night in College Basketball with limited number of games, its always prudent usually to take a longer look at the underdogs. Such is the case here with Lafayette as they play Seton Hall. These two teams don't have a history of each other and it should take time for both squads to get used to each other in the half court set. Bear in mind that Lafayette has some decent bite as an underdog. This is a team that lost by 16 points to Villanova on the road as Jay Wright's team has quickly become one of the best in the country as they are relevant again this year. They lost to Princeton in overtime who is a top 75 team and come off a loss to St. Francis NY on the road who is a team outside the top 200. This team is not going to blowout anyone nor do they have a high ranking opponent for a win in their column yet. But, they do play hard and keep contests close and getting double-digit points with a team led by two juniors is not a bad opportunity here. Note that Hall comes off a big 22 point win over Eastern Washington and are likely in for a let down here as this team lost to St. Peter's at home in overtime who is ranked outside the top 200 (Lafayette is ranked about 50 spots higher than St. Peter). Hall has not necessarily done well coming off big wins such as beating Virginia Tech this year by a possession only to lose to a team outside the top 300 in their next game in Fairleigh Dickenson. This is a type of team that can play up to anyone but also down to anyone as they mirror their opponents in a way. I think Seton Hall will find it a bit difficult to get up for this game whereas Lafayette will coming off a bad loss and the Hall coming off a big win. Lafayette is 4-1 ATS when facing a team with a straight up winning record and the Hall is 1-6 ATS in their last 7 home games when facing a team with a losing road winning percentage of 40% or lower (meaning, they struggle to cover larger spreads). We have Lafayette likely falling by 8 this evening.

Indian Cowboy's Picks For NBA Basketball

5-Unit Play. #805. Take Over 195 Milwaukee vs. Brooklyn (Friday @ 7:35pm est).

Brooklyn played terrible on Christmas Day with the eyes of the nation watching them as the Bulls rolled in and easily defeated them by a wide margin (17 points). The Nets were held to just 78 points on a strong defensive effort from Chicago and look to turn things around offensively against the Bucks. Larry Sanders is likely to make his return for Milwaukee, but with or without his return, this Over has a decent chance. The Bucks will likely be active underdogs and could very well win this game Outright. They have played well and have gone over the last 6 contests covering their last 3 contests as well. The last time these two teams played, Milwaukee lost by 8 points at home in what was a 90-82 finish. With Milwaukee playing better offensively, with revenge and Brooklyn coming off a poor offensive performance, the Over is likely this evening. Brooklyn has faced tough defenses in Indiana and Chicago in their last 2 games and they can score well offensively such as in their other contests against Philadelphia or Boston but have just run into some tough defenses. Look for them to bounce-back offensively here and Milwaukee to be a good active underdog as well. The Over is 5-0 for the Bucks coming off a straight up loss and the Over is 13-3 for the Nets when facing a team with a winning percentage of less than 40% in their last 16 contests.

Indian Cowboy's Picks For NHL Hockey

3-Unit Play. #2. Take New Jersey Devils -130 over Columbus (Friday @ 7pm est).

The Devils have now lost to Columbus the last two times they have played them after beating them the previous 5 times they had faced them. With Columbus coming off a big win at Carolina winning 4-3 and beating Philadelphia the game prior 6-3 (it was a revenge game from losing to Philly just the game before that), I look for them to have a let down here. Note that New Jersey comes off a 2-5 loss to the hands of Chicago as +190 underdogs and they have a decent amount of bounce-back motivation here. With revenge against Columbus from losing to them the last two times, on Friday Night and Columbus looking to win 3 straight in ages and in for a possible let down, the Devils have an opportunity to do well tonight. The Blue Jackets are 3-8 in their last 11 contests following a win and the Devils are 47-20 in their last 67 contests when facing a team with a road winning percentage of less than 40% overall.

                          Friday's NBA Tips
                          By Kevin Rogers

                          Nuggets at Pelicans

                          Denver: 14-13 SU, 12-15 ATS
New Orleans: 12-14 SU, 11-14-1 ATS

The Nuggets have hit the skids of late by suffering four consecutive losses, while scoring 99 points or less in each of those defeats. Denver cashed the 'under' for the eighth straight game in Monday's 89-81 home loss to Golden State, as the Nuggets have dropped three consecutive contests at the Pepsi Center (Denver lost three home games all last regular season).

The Pelicans return to the Big Easy after losing four of five games on their West Coast swing, as New Orleans finished the trip with a 113-100 victory at Sacramento on Monday. Monty Williams' club allowed at least 100 points in all five contests, while giving up over 100 points in nine of the last 10 games overall ('over' 5-5 in this stretch). New Orleans is playing with revenge as the Pelicans lost at Denver to start their recent road trip, 102-93, but the Nuggets have dropped their last two visits to Louisiana.

                          Lakers at Jazz

Los Angeles: 13-16 SU, 16-12-1 ATS
                          Utah: 8-23 SU, 13-17-1 ATS

The Lakers held their own on Christmas, but fell short to the defending champion Heat, 101-95. Los Angeles cashed as 9½-point home underdogs, as the Lakers try to snap their three-game skid with a trip to Salt Lake City. Since Kobe Bryant suffered his knee injury at Memphis, the Lakers have lost three of four games, as the team will be without Pau Gasol on Friday due to a respiratory infection. Mike D'Antoni's club has cashed the 'under' in five straight games, while failing to bust the 96-point mark four times in this stretch.

Utah heads home following a 2-3 SU/ATS road trip, before heading to Los Angeles on Saturday to take on the Clippers. The Jazz is listed as a favorite for just the second time this season, losing in their first opportunity in overtime to Sacramento. Tyrone Corbin's squad has dropped four straight home contests (all by double-digits), while last winning at Energy Solutions Arena on December 2 against Houston.

                          Heat at Kings

                          Miami: 22-6 SU, 13-15 ATS
                          Sacramento: 8-19 SU, 9-17-1 ATS

The Heat continues their West Coast swing after holding off the Lakers on Christmas, as Miami goes for its second win over Sacramento in seven days. The last time these teams met, Miami outlasted Sacramento, 122-103 to cash as 10-point favorites, the 10th straight win in the series for the Heat. Erik Spoelstra's club has won and covered four consecutive visits to Sleep Train Arena, all in the favorite role. Miami owns a perfect 7-0 record against Western Conference foes, but the Heat is playing just their third road game against the West this season.

The Kings have lost six of their last eight games, including a 13-point home defeat to the Pelicans on Monday. Sacramento has covered four straight home contests in the underdog role, including outright victories over Houston and Dallas this month. Since a two-point loss to Oklahoma City, the Kings are 9-2 to the 'over' in the last 11 games, while giving up at least 100 points in four consecutive games.

                          Suns at Warriors

                          Phoenix: 17-10 SU, 20-6-1 ATS
Golden State: 17-13 SU, 13-15-2 ATS

The Suns are surprisingly the best ATS team in the league through nearly two months, as Phoenix goes for its second win over Golden State this month. Phoenix held off Golden State in the Valley on December 15 in a 106-102 triumph as a short home underdog. The win snapped a six-game skid to the Warriors which dated back to 2012, while losing three straight visits in Oakland. Jeff Hornacek's team is 4-2 SU and 5-1 ATS against division foes, while both straight-up losses are to last-place Sacramento.

The Warriors slipped by the Clippers on Christmas night, 105-103, but failed to cash as three-point favorites. Golden State has won three straight games, as Mark Jackson's club owns a dreadful 3-6 ATS record the last nine trips to the court. The Warriors have struggled as a home favorite of seven points or less, posting an 0-7 ATS mark, while the three straight-up wins in this situation have all come by two points or less.
