You need pitching and defense to contend on the road and St. Louis is loaded with both. They need someone to shut down the hot Baltimore offense, and they have a strong arm going in Lance Lynn (11-8, 2.89 ERA). He has allowed one, one, one, two, two and, zero earned runs his last six starts. In fact, he's allowed two runs or less in nine of his last 10! Lynn has deserved a better fate in his last three starts, posting an 0-2 mark despite yielding just two runs in each, and 14 hits collectively. That's because this Cardinal offense is 29th in runs scored and 25th in slugging. But the Cardinals are 10-1 in their last 11 games after losing the first two games of a series. And that deep pitching staff is why St. Louis is 36-15 during game three of a series, including 20-7 when Lynn starts game three of a series. He will keep Baltimore in check. Play the St. Louis Cardinals.
