2 UNIT = Miami Dolphins @ Detroit Lions – LIONS -2.5 (-110)
(Note: I’m risking 2.00 units to win 1.82 units)
After last weeks win in London it is hard to say that this is the same old Lions. They initially missed a game winning field goal, but a delay of game penalty game them another opportunity to win it. Prater made sure the next attempt was going for 3 points, as the Lions came back from a 21-0 hole to beat the Falcons. That kind of stuff doesn’t happen to the Lions. They are usually on the opposite end of disastrous events. At 6-2, this is usually where the Lions begin to take a dose dive. Head coach Jim Caldwell has this team feeling confident about themselves, though. The biggest surprise about this Lions run is that they have been doing it without Calvin Johnson and Reggie Bush. Johnson and Bush are two of the biggest talents on the Lions’ roster, but the emergence of Golden Tate has really taken off the heat of the elite talent. Tate has 800 yards and 3 touchdowns, averaging 100 per game. Johnson and Tate haven’t really been able to get into a rhythm together due to the injury. However, when they get going, and if everyone can stay healthy, the offense will be a major threat. I see Calvin having a big game on Sunday. Thus far it hasn’t been the offense winning them games, rather the defense has. The Lions are 1st in the NFL in total defense, allowing only 290 yards per game and 15.8 points. Running the ball against them has become an afterthought. 2nd in the NFL, Detroit is giving up just 74 yards a game. The Dolphins’ offense is based off a run game to open up the chances for quarterback Ryan Tannehill to connect down-field. Miami is 4th in the league in rushing; however, I tend to side with a strong defense to limit good ground teams at home. Statistically the Lions’ offense hasn’t excelled to our expectations, but any team would without their number 1 running back and wide receiver. Moreover, the Lions have been getting adjusted to a new OC. If this game were in Miami the Dolphins probably win, but in Detroit after a bye week, the crowd is going to be fired up and the Lions are going to be hungry to put the Lions in a place they haven’t been in a long time: a record of 7-2.
Atlanta has lost a 5 in a row and have not won since blowing this same team out on a Thursday Night. Tampa is just a bad football team. They don’t have a starting QB that is their go to go and the running game is suffering because of injury. The Falcons have struggled because of their offensive line, but in a game like this the skilled players on Atlanta trump any talent the Bucs have on offense. Matt Ryan is too good a QB to lose six straight especially against a team that has no identity. Take the Falcons.
100 DIME two-team, six-point teaser on Denver and Green Bay. The Broncos are -11 at Oakland and Green Bay is -7 at home versus Chicago at 6:40 A.M. my time here in Vegas. Reduce the price you are laying with both favorites. Using the standard six points in a two-teamer your new prices would be Denver -5 and Green Bay -1.
