Analysis: I arrived to the party just minutes late here as The Falcons went from getting a point or two, to a pick ‘em, and are now favored primarily by 1-point. There are still shops selling this at PICK and I would go ahead and grab that if you can. This may come back the Carolina way on game day but I would not be surprised if it ticked up Atlanta’s way either. The fact is there is not much difference in the way of numbers, between a 1-point favorite and a 1-point dog. Our play here is The Falcons winning the game and more often than not that is going to be by 3-points, nullifying the 1-point stuff.

The Panthers were dismantled on Monday Night by The Eagles, a game in which Cam Newton was sacked 9-times. You could make a case that they bounce back here at home off of that dismal performance but rather I feel that this team is just flat out not good enough to do so. The Falcons defense is equally awful to that of Carolina’s but they are unquestionably more explosive on offense and they are showing signs of life in Atlanta, breaking out to a 21-point lead against The Lions three weeks ago, and winning comfortably on the road last week against Tampa Bay. I like the fact that this is a division game and will have Atlanta’s full attention, with second place in the horrible NFC South on the line. Atlanta is 3-and-0 SUATS in division games this season and The Panthers have lost 4-straight by an average score of 31-to-14. More importantly here in the case of Carolina.. they have been outyarded in 9-straight games! There is not another team in football that can make that claim. Greg Hardy being out on the defensive line has been huge, the offensive line has been like a sieve, Newton is not 100%, he has no running game, and very limited in terms of weapons on the outside.

The Falcons come into this game seeking triple-revenge. Road teams in division looking for such against losing teams, convert 66% of the time and nearly 73% of the time when the opponent is off of a SUATS loss. Carolina is reeling and Newton has come out saying he’s banged up. Next up for The Panthers is a bye week and I have to believe this team is very eager to get to that week of rest to stop the bleeding and try to get healthy. Let’s add to the fact that The Panthers are 0-and-10 ATS as favorites in the week before a bye in their franchise history.

No bounce back today. This bad team is ready to take a much needed break while The Falcons are going the other direction and looking to make a run at the division crown. It’s a Dirty Bird song today in sweet Caroline
