The Titans will be without their left and right tackles today and Jake Locker will be under center at QB. These teams are almost mirror images as far as everything like points and their record, but I believe the Jets have a better offense. That is really tough to say when talking about the Jets, but it is true. New York can run the football well and Chris Johnson might show flashes of his old self against his former team. In this league when you have only 2 wins and have to switch QB’s and shuffle your offensive line the odds are never in your favor to win the football game. Look for the Jets to cash in on the road.
dime bet – 323 MIN 9.5 (-125) vs 324 DET
Analysis: Still a few +8’s available out there as of Sunday morning but I believe +7.5 is good enough..
The Vikings are officially staying home for the holidays this year as they have been eliminated from the playoff race but very quietly, this team is playing pretty well. At one game under .500, Minnesota has already surpassed last season’s win total and they have won 4-of their last 6-games SU. The pressure here is all on Detroit to keep pace with The Packers. The Vikings players will be fighting for jobs and anxious to play spoiler to a division foe. The running game is a question for Minnesota and we know about The Lions’ stout front line – but now that any post season hopes have been dashed, I believe you will see The Vikings open up the playbook more for their young quarterback and his young weapons on the outside. Detroit may not be ready for every wrinkle the Minnesota game plan has up its sleeve today. The Vikings are 7-and-1 ATS in their last 8-games and in this series, The Lions are just 5-12-and-2 ATS.
First year Head Coach, Jim Caldwell, I believe, has done a great job with these Lions but even this year, this club struggles with success. After a win, The Lions are just 7-and-18 ATS in their next game. After two straight wins, they are 9-and-17 ATS and after a game in which they score 30+ points, they are just 1-and-13 ATS the following week.
I would expect this game to be low scoring as you have two good defenses in a division game. The Total opened up at 41.5 – very low by today’s standards. When you have what looks to be a low scoring game, laying a big number like 8-points is asking a lot. Rather, taking 8-points looms large if the scoring is to be tight. I feel the situation strongly favors The Vikings here and my numbers come out with them losing this game by less than a field goal. Finally, when seeking revenge in this series, Minnesota is 11-1-and-1 ATS and 5-and-0 ATS as underdogs.
