3* MLB GAME OF WEEK! — Chicago Cubs -117 (Lester/Haren)
I’m nicely zoned in on this Marlins team, and will continue to try and size them up correctly here. No worries with Jon Lester and would expect him to have a quality start here. Dan Haren is doing it with mirrors and there should be a regression coming soon, hopefully right here. If it’s close late, an edge to the Cubs as Ramos had to work hard for the save in the Tuesday night game. I don’t think this Miami lineup is as good against lefties and really can’t see them scoring more than two or three here. i’ll bank on the Cubs to get a couple more than that and I’ll spot the price.

2* White Sox -128 (Sale/Martinez)
The Chisox are a bad offensive team, really bad. No power, no speed, and it gets even worse if Jose Abreu can’t go here. But I do have Chris Sale with a commanding data edge over Nick Martinez. Sale is in ridiculous form right now. Last four games, 16 hits in 31.2 innings with a 4/40 BB/K. Martinez has been perhaps the most fortunate pitcher in all of baseball this season. His metrics are mediocre and that 2.03 ERA is maybe the biggest outlier stat one will find. This is about as high as I want to go even with Sale, but at this number I’ll give the White Sox a play.

Angels lost yesterday to Rays. Lets get back on Halos tonight. Santiago (4-3, 2.18 ERA) had his best outing of the season Friday, giving up three hits and striking out seven in 7 1/3 innings of a 2-0 win over Detroit. He's 2-1 with a 1.35 ERA over his last five and has the lowest ERA of anyone in the Angels' rotation. The left-hander improved to 2-0 with a 0.87 ERA over his last five home starts.

I am backing the Padres to continue to win when big game James Shields (6-0, 3.69 ERA) pitches. Shields looks to go 7-0 for the first time and help the Padres win their first series at home in a month. The Mets have dropped eight of nine on the road, and this will be Gee first start in a month due to a groin strain. Gee has a 3.97 ERA while losing his last two starts against the Padres.
(MLB) MIAMI +105 CHICAGO (7PM)
Miami starter Haren (5-2, 3.03) has done quite well going 2-0 with a 1.45 ERA in five home starts. He gave up two runs over 20 innings there in three May outings. You are getting money on home dog. Lets go Marlins.

Mike Bolsinger (3-1, 1.15) has perhaps been impressive for the Dodgers after going 1-6 with a 5.47 ERA in nine starts for Arizona during his first season in 2014. The right-hander allowed only two runs in his first four starts. Bolsinger gave up three hits over six innings of a 1-0 win May 17 to improve to

Chicago White Sox (Sale) at Texas Rangers (N. Martinez)
You don’t often see a Chris Sale start with a total as high as this and even with a hot Rangers offense that scored 15 runs last night this is a good bet. Sale has at least pitched into the 8th inning in each of his last three starts with a 1.52 ERA and 29-3 strikeout-to- walk ratio in those games, which is just fantastic. The lanky lefty has been mostly great against the Rangers with one start skewing the rest of the stats. Nick Martinez won’t impress on pure stuff but you have to like what he’s been doing lately, holding the Red Sox, Yankees, and Indians to five total runs over 19 innings. The real key here is the White Sox “attack” that has just been abys- mal. They have a .296 on-base percentage and a .355 slugging percentage which would be bad for a replacement-level middle infield, let alone an entire team.

vs. Milwaukee Brewers (Nelson)
Even with a bit of cold offense, the Cardinals just keep rolling along on the strength of their impressive starting pitching. They have held opposing teams to a .578 OPS over the last week and 2.3 runs per game. John Lackey has played a huge part in making up for the loss of Adam Wainwright. At home this season, he has a 1.30 ERA in 34.2 innings so it’s no surprise that the Cards went 4-1 in those games. Jimmy Nelson is having a decent enough season but his two terrible starts vs. the Cardinals rightfully put the fear in us. Nelson has allowed 12 total runs in his 9.1 innings vs. St. Louis and just might be the pitcher to get them going again.

Oakland A’s (Gray) at Detroit Tigers (A. Sanchez)
Sonny Gray continues to be the best thing about the A’s this year and we expect his best again tonight. His starts have actually gone over the total eight times out of 10, but given the relative lack of quality of the A’s offense that mostly tells us that odds mak- ers are respecting him, as do we. He should have little trouble with the Tigers, who have scored two or fewer runs in six of their last 10 games with two games of three runs. Anibal Sanchez’s main problem this year has been home runs but save for a couple guys in the lineup, this Oakland lineup isn’t exactly fearsome scoring 3.3 runs per game over the last week.
