4-Unit Play. Take #978 Seattle (-140) over Toronto (10:10 p.m., Friday, July 24)
This will be a matchup where opposites collide and I think the old saying of ?good pitching will beat good hitting? will prevail. Toronto comes in averaging 5.3 runs per game but I think Felix Hernandez will rise to the challenge and lead the Mariners to a victory. Hernandez is 7-3 with a 2.60 ERA in 10 starts at home this year. He limited the Blue Jays to 1 run on 4 hits with 8 strikeouts in 7 innings of a 4-3 win on May 22 and in his last 4 starts he has allowed 3 runs over 26 innings pitched. Drew Hutchison knows all about getting and giving up plenty of runs on the road. In 10 starts away from Toronto this year, Hutchison has an ERA of 8.81 with a 2-1 record and the only reason why he doesn't have more losses is because he has been supported by his offense with a ridiculous 9.77 runs per contest. Hutchison was supposed to start yesterday but was pushed back until today with a bout of the flu, which could bode well for the Mariners because the last time they faced him they scored 6 runs on 7 hits of 5.2 innings last August in an 11-1 win in Seattle. The Blue Jays have lost the last 4 times they played in Seattle and they are 1-8 in their last 9 games following a win while the Mariners are 5-1 in Hernandez's last 6 starts after allowing 2 runs or less in their previous game. I like Seattle to get the win tonight.
