Analysis: This total leaked down, largely due to some weather concerns, but as expected the weather should be fi íne.

The perception is that Carolina is an "UNDER" team, but the reality is that for a 16-1 team, there defense makes big plays, but has shown to be vulnerable during the 2nd half of the year.


I fully expect AZ to get into the 20s against Carolina, especially with some key defensive injuires. However, I have no doubt Cam and Co. will do the same against Az, and this one has 27-24 written all over it.

After going 19-2-3 over the final eight weeks of the 2014 season, Sal is rolling again, going 14-5 this season on his "Best Bet" and 4-1-1 overall in this year's playoffs so far.

So let's take a look at who Cousin Sal likes this week along with his thoughts on each pick.

Arizona Cardinals +3 (at Carolina Panthers): "I know they were playing prevent defense in the second half last week, but I don't like what I saw from those Carolina safeties. They got beat deep and that plays right into the hands of Arizona's passing game. You have Larry Fitzgerald against Cortland Finnegan in the slot, lots of mismatches defensively for Carolina. Arizona, 7-1 on the road this year, 7-3 in their last ten against the spread as a road [underdog]. I'm taking them. They're going to the Super Bowl, plus-3 over Carolina."

This is Sal's "Best Bet." He was 12-3-1 with this pick in 2014 and has been 14-5 this season, including 8-2 over the last nine weeks:


New England Patriots -3 (at Denver Broncos): "I was screaming last week about Julian Edelman. They're 10-0 now, the Patriots are, when he is in the lineup. Chris Harris, Jr., he has to cover him. He couldn't even raise his arm this morning. They are going to have trouble, Denver. New England is a road favorite. In the last 35 years, there's been four road favorites in the championship game for the AFC, three of them have covered. New England makes it four. I don't trust Denver, Peyton Manning with his slinky arm. We're taking New England, minus-3, 27-13, there's the final."

Great spot for the Toffees. Welsh side Swansea are one of the worst away performers in the league this season. The Swans are fourth to last place and have a 1-3-6 record away this campaign with a -6 goal differential. While Everton have underachieved this year, currently in 11th place in the standings, only six points separate them from a European birth for next season. This is a match they can and need to take all three points.

Most good fixtures in the Premier League this year have not living up to expectations. That's because with two big clubs facing off against one another, more times than not teams play passively, afraid to drop all three points and simply are content with a point and moving on to the next match. Well, that mentality plays in well for the 'under', especially here with both sides needing points for the cause and not to take a loss. Chelsea would love all three, but even a single point would do them wonders. I think a 1-1 stalemate is in order between these to London rivals.

Denver won last week at home and their defense played just 'Ok' but Sunday against New England the Broncos 'D' will be the key to victory and we cash the UNDER in this AFC Championship game. New England is 1-4 O/U in their last 5 AFC Conference Championship games. The Denver Broncos are 1-4 O/U in their last 5 playoff home games and the Broncos are 2-7-1 O/U in their last 10 home games.

7 Unit Play. Take #314 Carolina -3 over Arizona (6:40p.m., Sunday Jan 25 FOX)
The Bank of America Stadium will be loud and ready Sunday night as the disrespected home team the Carolina Panthers host the Arizona Cardinals. Can someone please tell me why the Carolina Panthers at home are only a -3 favorite? The Panthers were a perfect 9-0 at home and their last 5 home games the Panthers have won by 7 points or more. Arizona has had trouble in their last two games and the Packers in Arizona almost pull out the upset. Arizona's defense has also shown some leaks as of late especially against the run with Seattle and Green Bay accounting for 280 yards rushing combined. If Arizona struggles against the run on Sunday then this game could be lop-sided early. Overall, this game will be focused on both QB's and in my eyes Cam Newton in the league MVP and if you are going to be the league MVP you need to go to the dance. Sunday night I see Carson Palmer throwing a late pick and the Panthers at home will secure the lead and I see Carolina winning this game by 6-points or more. Arizona is 1-6 ATS against a team with a winning record and the Carolina Panthers are 9-3 ATS against NFC teams.
