Wednesday's College Basketball Plays

7-Unit Play. #569 Take Boise State (+3.5) over UNLV (11 p.m., Wednesday, January 27)

UNLV is the favorite only because they're at home. But Boise State is the better team and they prove it with an outright win in Vegas. The Broncos are 5-1 ATS this season on the road, and they have covered five of their past six games coming into this one as well. Last year Boise won both meetings, and this year its a wider gap that separates these two teams. UNLV have no quality home victories on the year, beating up teams outside teams all outside the RPI Top 140. Boise State have the best RPI in their league at 60. The Broncos have the superior starting five with their top four scorers averaging a combined 50+ per game. UNLV also have to deal with Derrick Jones, Jr.'s ankle injury. He's the team's second leading scorer, and while he'll play tonight, he isn't 100 percent healthy. Even if he was, Boise is still winning this game and continuing their push for first place in the Mountain West. Boise State wins this one, 75-73.

3-Unit Play. Take #543 Georgia Tech (+3.5) over N.C. State (8 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 27)

This Georgia Tech team has had a lot of hard luck. But I think that they can turn it around with a win here on the road against N.C. State. The Wolfpack have been one of the biggest disappointments in the ACC this year. This is a team that started the season in the Top 25. They may not even make it to the NIT at the rate they are going. N.C. State has lost six of its last seven games. Their last loss was against in-state rival Duke on Saturday. I think it will be tough to come back from that game. I don't expect much of a crowd tonight and not much of a home court advantage. Georgia Tech is off back-to-back close losses to Virginia Tech and Louisville. This team has been playing hard for Brian Gregory and I think they will give a great effort in this one. I'm calling for the upset.

2-Unit Play. Take #539 South Florida (+7) over Tulane (7 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 27)

South Florida is coming off a big underdog win over the weekend. They won at Houston outright as a 12-point underdog and that was a much-needed win for this team to snap a nine-game losing streak. South Florida has a chance to make it two in a row here at Tulane. The Green Wave have lost seven of their last eight games and their only win came at South Florida on Jan. 12. The Green Wave are not used to being in the role of favorite and I don't think that they will be very focused against a team that they already beat by 11 points this season. Tulane is just 1-5 ATS in its last six games and they are just 5-13 ATS in their last 18 home games. I'll go with the Bulls in this one. Take the points.

2-Unit Play. Take #569 Boise State (+4.5) over UNLV (11 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 27)

I will take the points in this matchup. I think that Boise State has a good chance to win this game outright. The Broncos are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 meetings with the Rebels and have beaten them three straight times. These two teams usually play close games and I can see this one again being a one- or two-possession game. UNLV lost to rival Nevada its last time out. I think that game will stick with them. Boise State is coming off a nice road win at Wyoming. That is a very tough place to play and they won by 10 points. Boise State is 23-7 ATS in its last 30 league games and they are 5-1 ATS in their last six games overall. I will take the points in a game that should have been posted as a 'pick' or with the Broncos -1.

Saturday the Wichita St Shockers easily beat Bradley at home 88-54 and that total flew over and tonight in Charles Koch Arena in Wichita, Kansas we should see another blow out victory with another game going over. Wichita St last 5 home games they are averaging 80.4ppg and I see another offensive explosion tonight from the Shockers. Loyola-Chicago is 5-0 O/U following a SU win and the Wichita St Shockers are 4-1 O/U against conference opponents.

Tonight in Boulder, Colorado the Buffaloes should get some distance away for the middle of the PAC-12 conference. Colorado is coming off a big road win in their last game beating Washington St 75-70 and if the Buffs can control the tempo tonight at home we should see another Colorado home cover
