8-Unit Play. Take #706 Charlotte -5 over Houston (Saturday, March 12th at 7:05 p.m.)
My spreadsheet has Charlotte winning this game by a final score of 120-101. The key components in this matchup are home court advantage, recent form, and defensive intensity.
Both of these teams are playing their third game in four nights but there is one huge difference: Charlotte has played all three games at home while Houston has been traveling. In fact, Houston is playing their fifth road game in a row.
Charlotte is playing extremely good basketball right now as they have won 6 in a row and none of the games have been very close. Granted, the level of competition hasn't been great but neither is Houston -- especially playing for the second night in a row and for the third time in four nights, on the road. Houston doesn't play defense and that will be a major problem tonight vs. the gritty Hornets.
I look for a spirited effort out of Charlotte and I look for them to run away with this game midway through the third quarter. This one won't be close.
Some trends to consider: (I'm not a huge trends guy as some are meaningless but some do have merit)
Take Charlotte.
Best of luck -- Mike
