7-Unit Play. Take #709 Chicago -2.5
over Memphis
(Tuesday, April 5th at 8:05 p.m.)
My spreadsheet has Chicago winning this game by a final score of 107-93. The key components in this matchup are overall talent and health
Memphis is a great fade right now as they simply don’t have enough talented basketball players to compete night in and night out in the NBA. They are limping to the finish line without two of their best players as Gasol and Conley are out indefinitely. They were blown out in Orlando Sunday night and I look for much of the same tonight as they face off with a Bulls team that needs wins. Chicago has won four of five games since Pau Gasol’s return. Derrick Rose has sat out the last two games and is questionable to play tonight. Obviously, a healthy Rose would be a huge bonus but I love this play with or without him. Gasol brings something to the Bulls’ lineup that was sorely needed in his absence: maturity and leadership. They play much better when he is on the court and I look for them to take advantage of a less talented team tonight.
Chicago has won the last two meetings in Memphis and they won the only other meeting between these two teams in Chicago earlier this season. This game sets up for a blowout and I look for that to be the case. The Bulls have enough talent to create some havoc in the Eastern Conference playoffs but it’s important that they begin to play better basketball. They have done just that since Gasol’s return.
Take Chicago.
