West Virginia comes into this game with an 8-2 SU record, but the Mountaineers are a phony team. They’ve played an extremely weak schedule, and in the games against decent opposition, the Mountaineers are just 2-2 SU with the two wins coming by a total of 4 points. West Virginia had a huge home game against Oklahoma last Saturday night, and they proceeded to lose that game by 28 points (56-28). That demoralizing loss will leave the Mountaineers with a hangover, and the fact that they are laying a full touchdown on the road creates even more value on Iowa State; my power ratings say West Virginia should be just a 3.5-point favorite in this game. West Virginia’s offense is averaging 31.8 points per game, but they’ve played a terrible group of opposing defenses that are giving up 31.5 points per game this season. The Mountaineers will now play an Iowa State defense that is only allowing 25.8 points per game on 5.5 yards per play at home.

Iowa State has a poor 3-8 SU record, but the Cyclones have been playing much better football down the stretch. Iowa State has won their last two games after their offense scored a total of 97 points. The Cyclones were competitive in four of their previous five losses as well; they lost by 10, 7, 5, and 3 points. Iowa State’s offense has been fantastic at home all season. The Cyclones are averaging 37.0 points per game on a whopping 6.9 yards per play. West Virginia’s defense has given up 134 total points in their last four games, so they are in poor current form. We’ll take Iowa State plus the points in this game on Saturday afternoon.

What a downer for WVU, who failed to cope with last Saturday night’s blizzard in Morgantown in their TO plagued 56-28 home loss to Oklahoma, in which they allowed the Sooners to rush for 388 yards. No mercy from Iowa St., as a team on the rise under HC Campbell. The Cyclones are 5-0 ATS on this field against all FBS foes they have faced, including last week’s blasting of Texas Tech, when they “200 Clubbed” the Red Raiders for a 608-306 yardage edge. First year HC Campbell has devised a platoon system at the signal caller spot with (runner) Lanning and (passer) Park, alternating controls of this quickly emerging offense. The upset is clearly no surprise to this bureau.

We roll with Texas Arlington here as frankly, we feel that they are the better team even though Texas Arlington has 3 wins and Fordham has 5 wins. Yes, Fordham has 5 wins, but this team has not anybody in the top 150. Hence, now they are expected to face a team in the top 100 in Texas Arlington and to which which is unlikely. The public just assumes that the 5 win team is better than the 3 win team. But, take a closer look, Texas Arlington has faced the likes of Minnesota, Florida Gulf Coast (a top 100 team and Arkansas (only lost by 4 points). Hence, this is a great chance for Texas Arlington who did not play particularly well against Mount St. Mary's to really focus and get a big win here over Fordham. The fact that the oddsmakers only set the line for Texas Arlington in the low teens when they faced Arkansas spoke volumes. This team is much better than people think and we like them here to win by about 7-10 points over Fordham.

TCU comes into this 'Final Round' of the Global Sports Classic undefeated record 5-0 but some of the schools were cupcake schools. Washington heads into this game winner of 4 out 5 games and last night the Huskies had no problem beating Western Kentucky 86-47. TCU had a difficult time with UNLV last night beating them 63-59 and if the Huskies take control of this game and push the tempo I see the Huskies taking control in the second half. I made Washington a -1 or 'Pick' but getting them as a +2.5 underdog seems like a steal. Washington is 5-1-1 ATS against Big 12 schools and 9-3 ATS when playing on neutral site. TCU is 1-9 ATS following a SU win and 4-11 ATS against a team with a winning record.
