When: 3:30 PM ET, Saturday, November 4, 2017
      Where: Memorial Stadium, Lincoln, Nebraska

      Preview: Northwestern at Nebraska
      Gracenote
      Nov 1, 2017

Nebraska and Northwestern were on the winning side of the handful of pulse-pounding finishes the Big Ten delivered last weekend, and their recent meetings in Lincoln have not lacked for drama either. A budding rivalry resumes Saturday when the Cornhuskers host the Wildcats for sole possession of second place in the West Division.

Trailing by 12 points in the fourth quarter last Saturday, junior quarterback Tanner Lee threw for two fourth-quarter touchdowns, the last of which came with 14 seconds remaining, and passed for a career-high 431 yards - 192 in the final period - to send Nebraska to a 25-24 win over Purdue. Northwestern was forced into overtime for a second straight week before junior linebacker Nate Hall intercepted a pass at the front of the end zone in the third extra session to upend then-No. 18 Michigan State 39-31. Home-field advantage has meant very little in six games between the Cornhuskers and Wildcats since Nebraska joined the Big Ten in 2011, as the road team has won all but one. All three meetings in Lincoln have been decided by three points or fewer, and the Cornhuskers' only win over the Wildcats over that period came on a Hail Mary with no time left en route to a 27-24 victory in 2013.

TV: 3:30 p.m. ET, Big Ten Network. LINE: Northwestern -1.

ABOUT NORTHWESTERN (5-3, 3-2 Big Ten): Clayton Thorson is one of only two players in the conference with at least three 300-yard passing games this season, adding to that tally with a 356-yard performance versus the Spartans to earn his 22nd victory, tying him with Brett Basanez (2002-05) for the most wins by a quarterback in school history. Linebacker Paddy Fisher was named Walter Camp and Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week after collecting 17 tackles (14 solo) and forcing two fumbles against Michigan State; his conference-leading 73 tackles through eight games are the most by any FBS freshman. Fisher's emergence has been key for a run defense that ranks 17th in the country and hasn't yielded more than 109 yards in any of the last six contests.

ABOUT NEBRASKA (4-4, 3-2): Despite missing one game due to injury, Stanley Morgan Jr. leads the team in catches (39), receiving yards (652) and touchdowns (seven); he has already tied a program record for most 100-yard receiving efforts in a season (four) and is on pace to set a school mark for single-season receiving yardage. JD Spielman, who ranks sixth among FBS freshmen in receptions (37), fourth in receiving yards (545) and third in all-purpose yards (959), is also on pace to set school freshman records in all three categories. Although the Cornhuskers failed to amass 50 rushing yards for the second straight game last weekend, freshman Jaylin Bradley produced 42 yards on seven carries and added three receptions for 31 yards in his most extensive action.

      EXTRA POINTS

      1. Lee, whose 431 yards passing versus the Boilermakers was the fourth-highest total in school history, has posted an 8:1 touchdown-to-interception ratio since throwing nine picks over a three-game stretch in September.

      2. Northwestern senior RB Justin Jackson (38) needs one more touchdown to set the school record and one more rushing score (37) to tie another - both held by Damien Anderson (1998-2001).

      3. The Cornhuskers' 40 rushing yards last weekend was their lowest total since netting 31 against USC on Sept. 15, 2007.

      PREDICTION: Nebraska 24, Northwestern 23

          Preview: Cincinnati at Tulane
          Gracenote
          Nov 2, 2017

With its bowl hopes fading, Tulane will look to snap a three-game losing streak when it hosts Cincinnati in an American Athletic Conference game on Saturday. The Green Wave entered last week's contest ranked 12th in the nation in rushing but gained just 122 yards on 55 carries in a 56-26 loss at Memphis.

The loss dropped Tulane to 0-3 on the season against ranked teams but the schedule certainly gets easier for the Green Wave, which must win three of its last four games to earn a postseason bid. Tulane's five losses are against opponents with a combined 31-7 record. The Bearcats have dropped five straight, including its last outing, when SMU converted a fourth-and-26 situation in overtime to set up a deciding field goal in a 31-28 decision. Cincinnati has surrendered at least 31 points in all five of those setbacks.
          TV: 4 p.m. ET, ESPN3. LINE: Tulane -5.5

ABOUT CINCINNATI (2-6, 0-4 American): Quarterback Hayden Moore has failed to go over 200 yards passing for the past two games but he did throw a pair of scoring passes last week against SMU. The Bearcats must go 4-0 to earn a bowl berth, a quest that is not lost on senior left tackle Korey Cunningham. "We're just trying to win out, get bowl eligible and finish the season on a good note," he told reporters during the week. "Finish my career here at UC on a high note."
ABOUT TULANE (3-5, 1-3): Tulane enters the game ranked fourth in the AAC and 15th nationally in rushing offense at 248 yards per game but it is faced with injury issues on its offensive line. Center Junior Diaz missed last week's game and is questionable for Saturday. Dontrelle Hilliard leads the team with 768 yards rushing on 133 carries and has nine touchdowns.

          EXTRA POINTS
          1. Tulane is seeking its first homecoming win at Yulman Stadium after dropping the first three contests.
          2. Cincinnati rushed for a season-high 249 yards against SMU and held the Mustangs' nationally No. 6-ranked scoring offense (43.6 points per game) to 28 points in regulation.
          3. Tulane leads the all-time series 11-4 but this is the first meeting in AAC play.

              Preview: Ole Miss at Kentucky
              Gracenote
              Oct 31, 2017

By reaching six wins the fourth-earliest in school history with an exciting 29-26 win against Tennessee last week, fifth-year coach Mark Stoops has Kentucky bowl-eligible for a second straight season after a five-year drought. The Wildcats seek a fourth win in five games Saturday when they visit struggling Ole Miss.

Kentucky went 2-10 in Stoops’ first year in 2013 and followed that with a pair of 5-7 campaigns before finishing 7-6 last season, culminating a 33-18 loss to Georgia Tech in the TaxSlayer Bowl. Quarterback Stephen Johnson scrambled 11 yards for a touchdown with 33 seconds left to seal the victory over the Volunteers last week and finished with a career-high 84 yards rushing - the most by a Wildcats quarterback since 2011. "We all remember how difficult it is and we all remember that it wasn't that long ago when we were scrapping to get six wins. So, I don't think you should ever just take (playing in bowl games) for granted,” Stoops told reporters this week. “I think that's when a lot of issues start popping up across the board in your program." Ole Miss has dropped five of its last six games but may have found a quarterback in junior Jordan Ta’amu, who completed 20-of-30 passes for 368 yards with no TDs and one interception in last week’s 38-37 loss to Arkansas.

TV: 4 p.m. ET, SEC Network. LINE: Kentucky -3.5.

ABOUT OLE MISS (3-5, 1-4 SEC): In his first start, Ta’amu also ran for 76 yards and two touchdowns against Arkansas, including a 49-yard scamper, but the Rebels couldn’t hold a 31-7 second-quarter lead. While the junior college transfer threw for the most yards ever by an Ole Miss quarterback making his first start and posted the fifth-most total yards (444) in a single game, Jordan Wilkins ran for a season-high 118 yards and a TD on 16 carries and D.K. Metcalfe caught four passes for 107 yards. Linebacker DeMarquis Gates had 15 tackles against the Razorbacks - his fourth game this season with double-digit tackles and the fourth time he's led Ole Miss in total tackles this season.

ABOUT KENTUCKY (6-3, 3-2): Johnson is completing 59.6 percent of his passes for 1,401 yards with nine touchdowns versus only four interceptions and has added 386 yards rushing before sacks and three touchdowns. Benny Snell recovered from an opening-carry fumble last week and rushed for 180 yards and three touchdowns on 27 carries. Safety Mike Edwards, who leads the team with 63 tackles, three interceptions and five pass breakups, heads a defense that yields 400 yards per game but has prevented touchdowns on 12-of-26 red zone trips.

              EXTRA POINTS

              1. Ole Miss leads the all-time series 27-14-1 but Kentucky won the last contest 30-13 in 2011.

              2. Snell, who is the first Kentucky player with 180 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns in an SEC game since 2005, has run for 721 yards and nine touchdowns this season while averaging 4.5 yards per carry.

              3. Ole Miss K Gary Wunderlich has made a field goal in 18 straight games - the longest active streak in the NCAA and an all-time school best.

PREDICTION: Kentucky 31, Ole Miss 24

                  Preview: Oklahoma at Oklahoma State
                  Gracenote
                  Nov 1, 2017

For the first time in 13 years, the bitter Bedlam rivalry between in-state rivals Oklahoma and Oklahoma State isn't the Big 12 season-ender for the two schools. But Saturday afternoon's contest in Stillwater, which will be the site of ESPN's College GameDay broadcast, has probably as much riding on it as any in recent history.

Both teams enter as part of a four-way tie for first place in the Big 12 and are also in the running for a spot in the four-team College Football Playoff, which had the Sooners rated No. 5 in its first weekly poll released on Tuesday while the Cowboys, who still have a road date next week at No. 15 Iowa State, come in at No. 11. Then there's quarterbacks Baker Mayfield of Oklahoma and Mason Rudolph of Oklahoma State, both of whom rank at or near the top of most key NCAA passing stats and could take a big step forward in the Heisman Trophy race with impressive games while also improving their NFL Draft stock. The loser not only will not have state bragging rights but will also be hard-pressed to rebound and earn one of the two coveted spots in this year's Big 12 Championship Game on Dec. 2 in Arlington, Tex. "The timing is different, but the stakes are about as high as they can be," Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy said.

                  TV: 4 p.m. ET, FS1. LINE: Oklahoma State -2.5

ABOUT OKLAHOMA (7-1, 4-1 Big 12): It all starts with the cocky and confident Mayfield who finished third in Heisman voting in 2016 and ranks eighth in the NCAA in passing with 2,628 yards while also leading all Power 5 conference quarterbacks in passing efficiency (195.6), averaging an NCAA-best 11.1 yards per completion. "I love the big stage," Mayfield, who has completed 171-of-236 passes (72.5 percent) for 23 touchdowns and just three interceptions, told reporters this week. "I love a good atmosphere. I think it's a good opportunity to show the country what we're made of." The key for the Sooners, however, could be the play of a defense that has allowed 35 or more points in three of its last five games and ranks 100th nationally in pass efficiency defense (141.4).

ABOUT OKLAHOMA STATE (7-1, 4-1): Rudolph leads the nation in passing yards (2,866) and passing yards per game (358.3) while throwing 22 touchdown passes to five interceptions. He has a a potential first round NFL pick to throw to in senior wide receiver James Washington who is second in the FBS with an average of 125.6 receiving yards per game while sophomore running back Justice Hill leads the Big 12 in rushing with 836 yards and has scored eight touchdowns. The defense, which has allowed just six passing touchdowns while picking off a Big 12-leading 12 passes, is led by safeties Ramon Richards, who had the game-winning interception in overtime in a 13-10 win at Texas, and Tre Flowers, who has 242 career tackles and is second in the Big 12 with nine passes defended.

                  EXTRA POINTS

                  1. Oklahoma, which earlier this season won 31-16 at Ohio State, will be trying for its 15th consecutive true road win and has won its last two games in Stillwater by a combined score of 91-47.

                  2. Washington is the FBS active leader in receiving touchdowns (34) and receiving yards (3,928) and has caught at least one pass in 40 straight games.

                  3. Mayfield is 10-0 in Big 12 road games during his Oklahoma career, having thrown for 3,124 yards, 34 touchdowns and four interceptions.

PREDICTION: Oklahoma State 38, Oklahoma 34

One can't blame Arkansas if it sees this week's home date with Coastal Carolina as an opportunity for the Razorbacks' beleaguered defense to get a much-needed breather. Arkansas is coming off a thrilling 38-37 victory over Ole Miss, the first time this season the Razorbacks held an SEC opponent below 40 points.

After surrendering a whopping 191 points in losses to Texas A&M, South Carolina, Alabama and Auburn, Arkansas rallied from a 24-point deficit - and did just enough on the defensive end - to stun the Rebels for their first conference win of the season. "Obviously, we didn't start as fast as wanted," Razorbacks coach Bielema said afterward. "But we definitely finished strong." The Chanticleers are in free-fall, having dropped seven consecutive games following a season-opening victory over Massachusetts. It's the longest losing streak since Coastal Carolina first started competing in football in 2003.

TV: 4 p.m. ET, SEC Network. LINE: Arkansas -23.

ABOUT COASTAL CAROLINA (1-7): Chanticleers running back Osharmar Abercrombie leads the team in rushing yards (495) and rushing scores (five) but had just four carries for five yards in last weekend's loss to North Texas. Quarterback Tyler Keane went 8-of-16 for 91 yards in the defeat after racking up 332 yards and a pair of touchdowns in a 37-29 loss to Appalachian State a week earlier; 900 of his 1,327 passing yards and nine of his 10 scores through the air have come in three games. Coastal Carolina ranks last in the Sun Belt Conference in sacks (11) and second from the bottom in interceptions (two).

ABOUT ARKANSAS (3-5): Look for the Razorbacks' defense to work on several areas of concern against the toothless Chanticleers. Arkansas comes into the weekend allowing FBS opponents to gain 5.6 yards per carry, while opponents have converted 45.1 percent of their third-down opportunities through eight games - ahead of only 17 other Division I teams. Discipline has been one of the Razorbacks' areas of strength so far in 2017; they're averaging just 35.4 penalty yards per game, the sixth-best mark in the nation.

                          EXTRA POINTS

                          1. Coastal Carolina ranks fourth in the Sun Belt in yards per carry (4.5) and fifth in total rushing yards (1,290).

                          2. Arkansas WR Jonathan Nance leads the team in receiving yards (436) but has just eight catches for 62 yards over his last three games.

                          3. The Razorbacks have allowed 28 sacks, fifth-most in the country.

PREDICTION: Arkansas 41, Coastal Carolina 14

After two energetic performances at home under interim coach Cory Hall, Oregon State heads out on the road Saturday to face a reeling California team. The Bears are looking to bounce back from last Saturday’s 44-28 loss to Colorado, their fifth defeat in six Pac-12 conference games after opening with three straight non-league wins.

Cal quarterback Ross Bowers completed 29-of-52 passes for 359 yards and three touchdowns against Colorado, but the defense took another step back by giving up 200 rushing yards and allowing Buffaloes quarterback Steven Montez to throw for 347 yards. “This is not a fun feeling at all, and it’s not something that we’re going to accept,” Bowers told reporters. “This is when everybody talks about adversity and asks what you’re about. Now, we get to see who’s genuinely going to come to work and who’s going to show how much they care.” The Bears are facing an Oregon State team that seems rejuvenated under Hall, who took over for Gary Andersen on Oct. 8 and immediately placed a greater emphasis on the run game. The Beavers were outscored 180-54 in their final four games under Andersen but have shown marked improvement in back-to-back losses to Colorado (36-33) and Stanford (15-14).

                              TV: 5 p.m. ET, Pac-12 Network. LINE: Cal -8.5

ABOUT OREGON STATE (1-7, 0-5 Pac-12): Senior linebacker Manase Hungalu has 61 total tackles and two interceptions to lead the Beavers defense, which held Stanford to 222 yards of total offense despite missing their three top cornerbacks because of injuries. Hall was pleased by the play of senior Landry Payne, who made his first career start at safety and finished with 10 tackles. Thomas Tyner and Ryan Nall combined for 139 rushing yards against Stanford, while quarterback Darell Garretson made his fourth start since Jake Luton fractured his spine and was solid if unspectacular while throwing for 126 yards.

ABOUT CAL (4-5, 1-5): The Bears lost their 11th straight conference road game last week against Colorado but have played better at home, where they’ve gone 3-2 including a dominant win over Washington State. Receivers Kanawai Noa and Jordan Veasy provided a spark against Colorado with a combined 14 catches for 219 yards and three touchdowns, but Cal lacks a consistent run game and Bowers has thrown a conference-high 11 interceptions. Linebacker Jordan Kunaszyk has averaged 13.7 tackles over the last three games to lead the defense, which has struggled without injured star Devante Downs.

                              EXTRA POINTS

                              1. The winning team has scored at least 45 points in each of the last five matchups.

                              2. Nall rushed 14 times for 221 yards and three touchdowns in last season’s 47-44 win over Cal.

                              3. The Bears are two wins away from bowl eligibility with two of their final three games at Stanford and at UCLA.
