Washington at Stanford 11/10/17 - College Football Picks & Predictions

PAC-12 Conference rivals will clash on Friday night, when the 9th ranked Washington Huskies travel to Stanford Stadium to tackle the Stanford Cardinal. The Huskies have just one loss at Arizona State on the year and control their own destiny to reach the PAC-12 Conference Championship Game. On Saturday, Dante Pettis became the all-time leader in punt return touchdowns during a 38-3 rout of visiting Oregon. Pettis, who has nine career punt returns for touchdowns, also hauled in a 47-yard receiving touchdown on the night.

Through nine games, Washington ranks 54th in total offense and 38.6 points per contest. Stanford comes into this matchup ranked 72nd in total defense and giving up 21.3 points on average.


The Stanford Cardinal have won six of their first nine games overall and are 5-2 in conference play. A win over Washington in this game would move Stanford into a three-way tie with the Huskies and Washington State for the PAC-12 North Division lead. On Saturday, the Cardinal missed an opportunity to seize control in the division race during a 24-21 road loss at Washington State. Heisman Trophy candidate Bryce Love was limited to 69 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries in the loss.

BYU (2-8) may be starting its third-sting quarterback in Las Vegas on Friday. The Cougars lost starter Tanner Mangum for the season last week with an achilles injury. Backup Beau Hoge played long enough to roll over an ankle that's been bothering him the last few weeks. That may mean that Joe Critchlow will start behind center. Critchlow has completed just 6 of 11 passes for 59 yards this season.

Junior running back Squally Canada had his best game of the season against Fresno State despite the Cougar loss. Canada ran the ball 12 times for 84 yards and a touchdown. He showed quickness and deciciveness in his cutting that he's lacked this season.

The best receiving target for BYU continues to be freshman tight end Matt Bushman. He has 40 grabs for 401 yards this season. Against the Bulldogs, he pulled in nine catches for 97 yards.


UNLV (4-5) has gotten worked by BYU in recent matchups, but the Rebels figure to have as much chance as ever to beat the Cougars. They won against Fresno State a couple weeks and got past Hawaii last week. Two wins in the last three games would mean bowl eligibility, which would be a remarkable accomplishment for UNLV.

Junior runnning back Lexington Thomas is having a tremendous year for the Rebels. He has carried the ball 162 times for 1,063 yards and 14 touchdowns. Thomas has found the end zone at least once in every game but one this season.

The Florida Panthers come into this game having just lost to Carolina. Buffalo is coming off of a nice win to Washington and a home game might keep them on track with some momentum.

The Boston Bruins have struggled out of the gate this year and fans have to be upset with their play on the ice. Boston is middle of the pack on both offense and defense, showing that neither aspect of their roster is elite at this point. Toronto needs to tighten up on the defensive end of the ice in order to keep at the top of the Atlantic Division. Last workout was the second fastest of the day. Surely on edge for a good one today. QUEEN FRANCIS - Filly's last workout was second fastest of the day for the distance. A win pct like 50 is terrific for any jockey/handler tandem. This filly's last race was back on June 16th but I do believe she can run a good one coming off a layoff. Only a bad break can keep this horse from having a chance. Loves the front, is breaking from the inside in a sprint race, and we're on a bullring.

Rohena will almost certainly be able to get this filly to break out quickly in this event. PLAYINWITHTHEBOYS - Has been consistently racing well as of late. With a very good 88 speed figure last time out, will surely be a factor in this race.
