      Preview: Bucks at Kings

      Gracenote
      Nov 28, 2017

The Sacramento Kings are fresh off their biggest win of the season and look to ride the momentum when they host the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday. The Kings halted a nine-game road slide by recording a 110-106 victory over the Golden State Warriors on Monday - their first victory in Oakland since March 2013.

Sacramento shot 53.2 percent from the field - the first Golden State opponent to shoot better than 50 percent this season - and got a huge performance from backup center Willie Cauley-Stein, who scored 19 points on 8-of-9 shooting and also registered eight rebounds and six assists. The 24-year-old is displaying signs of emerging as an offensive player by scoring 18 or more points in four of the past six games, including a season-high 26 against the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday. Milwaukee split the first two contests of a four-game road excursion, while All-Star small forward Giannis Antetokounmpo was highly disturbed during Saturday's 121-108 loss to the Utah Jazz, even getting into a heated argument with assistant coach Sean Sweeney. "We've just got to play harder, put more effort into it," Antetokounmpo told reporters afterward. "If you get frustrated, there's no point."

TV: 10 p.m. ET, FSN Wisconsin (Milwaukee), NBCSN California (Sacramento)

ABOUT THE BUCKS (9-9): Antetokounmpo continued his MVP-caliber campaign with 27 points and 13 rebounds against the Jazz for his 16th 20-point outing and ninth double-double of the season. Antetokounmpo ranks second in the NBA in scoring (29.5) and his all-around standout stats include averages of 10.5 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 1.8 blocked shots and 1.5 steals. Guard Malcolm Brogdon, the NBA Rookie of the Year last season, has taken well to a reserve role since the acquisition of Eric Bledsoe, and scored 19 points and matched his career high of four 3-pointers in the Utah contest.

ABOUT THE KINGS (6-14): Sacramento's nine road losses are by an average of 19.6 points and includes an embarrassing 46-point loss to the Atlanta Hawks, one of three NBA teams with a worse record than the Kings. So even with All-Stars Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant out of the Golden State lineup, it was still a milestone victory for the struggling team to win in the home building of a longtime nemesis. "It's good for confidence," Sacramento coach Dave Joerger told reporters after the win. "They don't lose in here very often, no matter what. ... It's a feather in (our) hat for sure."

      BUZZER BEATERS

      1. The Bucks swept last season's two meetings by an average of 22 points.

      2. Sacramento rookie G Frank Mason III scored a season-best 14 points against the Warriors and has reached double digits in four of the past five games.

      3. Milwaukee SG Khris Middleton tallied only nine points on 4-of-15 shooting against Utah after scoring 40 points three nights earlier against the Phoenix Suns - his second effort of 40 or more points this season.

      PREDICTION: Bucks 105, Kings 103

NBA (509) MILWAUKEE BUCKS VS (510) SACRAMENTO KINGS

                Take: (509) MILWAUKEE BUCKS

Reason: Your free play for Tuesday, November 28, 2017 is in the NBA scheduled contest between the Milwaukee Bucks and Sacramento Kings. The 9-9 Milwaukee Bucks travel West to play the 5-14 Sacramento Kings. I'm looking at the Bucks in tonight's contest. Sacramento in the tough situational spot of the second of a back-to-back game. They had to play at Golden State last night and now turn around for the Bucks here tonight. Neither team has been very good defensively, as the Bucks allow 105.6 ppg and the Kings 105.1 ppg. Milwaukee is coming off a loss at Utah. The Kings are just 1-7-1 ATS in their last nine games against the East Conference and 0-3-1 ATS when they play the second of a back-to-back spot. The Bucks are 8-3 ATS their last 11 trips to Sacramento and the road team is 15-5 ATS the last 20 meetings. I'm taking the Bucks here tonight.

                        TOMMY BRUNSON

Tuesday's comp play is the points and the 'Ville over the Purdue Boilermakers.

Louisville as we all know went through some major sh$t prior to the start of the campaign, but the Cardinals have responded by controlling only what is in their hands, and that is playing - and winning! - basketball games.

4 games played, 4 games won. All 4 of them at home. Now the Cards and their Top-20 ranking hit the road for their first "real" game as they head to West Lafayette to play a Purdue team that stands at 5-2 already.

The Boilers wrapped-up their tournament action in the Bahamas on a high-note, as they were able to run Arizona off the court by 25 points last Friday. That was after Matt Painter's team had suffered losses to both Tennessee and Western Kentucky!

Not sure I trust Purdue in the favored role here, as this is a pretty big number to lay against a Louisville team that dumped them last season in this Big 10/ACC Challenge, 71-64 as the -6 point home favorite.

The Cardinals are 7-2-1 against the spread when facing schools from the Big 10, and I like them tonight plus the generous points to be inside of the number.

                        2* LOUISVILLE

                          Preview: Lightning at Sabres

                          Nov 27, 2017

The Tampa Bay Lightning are facing adversity for the first time this season with three losses in four games and look to snap out of it when they visit the struggling Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday night. Tampa Bay has dropped two straight for the first time this season after a dull effort in a 3-1 loss at Washington on Friday and Saturday’s 5-2 loss at Pittsburgh in which it allowed three 5-on-3 goals.

“We knew it was going to happen. We just didn’t know when,” Lightning left wing Alex Killorn told the Tampa Bay Times. “A lot of us in here are veteran guys that have been in the league long enough to know you’re not going to keep up that pace for a whole season.” Captain Steven Stamkos, who leads the league with 36 points, and linemate Nikita Kucherov (34) have been held to two points combined in the last four games and will try to warm up against the Sabres, who are last in the Eastern Conference and have one win in the past nine games (1-6-2). Buffalo, which came into Monday third-worst in the league in goals-against, earned a big victory against Edmonton on Friday and outshot Montreal on Saturday in a 3-0 loss. “This isn’t a league that’s built on moral victories,” Sabres center Jack Eichel told the Buffalo News. “To outplay somebody is not what we’re really here to do. We’re here to win games.”

TV: 7 p.m. ET, FSN Sun (Tampa Bay), MSG Buffalo

ABOUT THE LIGHTNING (16-5-2): Kucherov has been stuck on 17 goals the last four games, falling behind league-leader Alex Ovechkin (18), and managed just five shots on net in the past three contests. “Our job is to find a way to get him the puck in areas, and he’s got to start shooting,” Tampa Bay coach Jon Cooper told reporters. “He’s a dangerous, dangerous player, but this is a hard league to score in.” Stamkos has 12 shots in the last four games, but the center has one assist since a four-point game against Dallas on Nov. 16 and owns a minus-4 rating during that stretch.

ABOUT THE SABRES (6-14-4): Buffalo comes into the week last in the league in goals per game (2.29) and part of those offensive woes are due to a power play that is 0-for-15 in the last six contests. The Sabres led the league with the man advantage last season at 24.5 percent, but have dipped to 13.3 in 2017-18 and coach Phil Housley told reporters, “we need to take a really hard look at it because it’s losing momentum for us in games.” Evander Kane leads the team with 12 goals and 23 points - five (two goals) in the last five games - and Eichel (19 points) owns two goals in three contests.

                          OVERTIME

                          1. The Lightning have won five straight at Buffalo and are 11-1-0 in the last 12 in the series between Atlantic Division rivals.

                          2. The Sabres have not received a goal from a defenseman this season while Tampa Bay has 14 from its blueliners.

                          3. Buffalo F Jacob Josefson aggravated an ankle injury in Saturday’s loss and is expected to miss 4-to-6 weeks.

                          PREDICTION: Lightning 5, Sabres 1

                              Preview: Canucks at Islanders

                              Gracenote
                              Nov 27, 2017

The only team in the NHL that has yet to lose in regulation at home, the New York Islanders look to keep that streak intact when they host the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday night. Winners of three straight and six of seven overall, New York owns a 7-0-2 mark at Barclays Center -- matching the best nine-game start at home in franchise history.

The high-scoring Islanders, who also have won three straight against Vancouver, are coming off a stretch of six games in 10 days, improving to 5-1-0 in that span with Saturday's 2-1 win at Ottawa. “You have to get some experience in the low-scoring games," New York coach Doug Weight said. "That’s what you’re going to see in April and May.” The Canucks opened their six-game road trip with impressive 5-2 wins at Philadelphia and Pittsburgh before dropping a pair of one-goal decisions at New Jersey and to the New York Rangers -- the latter in a shootout after blowing a two-goal lead. "It's obviously tough," Vancouver forward Jake Virtanen said after the seven-round shootout loss at Madison Square Garden. "We got the point, but we'd rather have two for sure."

TV: 7 p.m. ET; Sportsnet Pacific (Vancouver), MSG-Plus (New York), NHL.TV

ABOUT THE CANUCKS (11-9-4): Forward Brock Boeser scored in the shootout Saturday but otherwise had a five-game point streak snapped, leaving him second in the rookie point race with 22 -- one behind the Islanders' Mathew Barzal. Loui Eriksson, back on a line with the Sedin twins, scored his third goal in the past four games. “I thought that line might have had their best game of the year," coach Travis Green said. "All three were in sync, Loui was getting to places quick, reading the play well and got rewarded well.”

ABOUT THE ISLANDERS (14-7-2): Forward Jordan Eberle had an inauspicious start to his first season with New York, failing to score in his first 10 games, but he has netted all nine of his goals over the past 13. Eberle, who has scored in back-to-back contests, also has a productive track record against Vancouver with 16 goals and 25 assists in 35 games during his tenure with Edmonton. Josh Bailey collected his team-leading 23rd assist on Anders Lee's goal Saturday to boost his team-high point total to 28.

                              OVERTIME

                              1. Barzal has three goals and six assists during a six-game point streak.

                              2. Canucks LW Daniel Sedin is two points shy of 1,000 for his career.

                              3. Islanders C Casey Cizikas (lower body) was hurt in Saturday's game and missed Monday's practice, leaving his availability in question.

                              PREDICTION: Islanders 4, Canucks 2
