The Heart of Dallas Bowl in Dallas, Texas should be a great matchup and I see defense in the second half being the key. The West Virginia Mountaineers have dropped their last two games and both losses were by double-digits. Utah is coming off a big home win against Colorado 34-113 and if the Utes defense steps up in Dallas I see the Utes getting the big bowl win and bowl cover. West Virginia is 0-4 ATS in their last 4 bowl games and the Utah Utes are 9-3 ATS in bowl games.

3 Unit Play. Take #232 Duke -5 over Northern Illinois (5:15p.m., Tuesday December 26 ESPN - Quicken Lane Bowl)

Detroit, Michigan Tuesday night will host the Quicken Lane Bowl at Ford Field and this game should be a nice matchup between the Duke Blue Devils versus the Northern Illinois Huskies. Duke needed back-to-back victories to be bowl eligible and those two victories were against some tough opponents. The Blue Devils beat Wake Forest on the road 31-23 and Georgia Tech at home 43-20 and I see them controlling this game against the Huskies. NIU lost to Central Michigan in their last 31-24 and with the strength of schedule that the Blue Devils had to play I give them the edge Tuesday night. The Huskies defense gave up 62 points in their last two games so I see the Blue Devils being able to move the ball down the field and in the second half the Blue Devils running game will take control. After watching the Blue Devils play Georgia Tech and having no problem stopping the run the Devils make the key stops to win and cover this game. The Blue Devils are 16-6-1 ATS against non-conference and the NIU Huskies are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 bowl games.

5 Unit Play. Take #233 Kansas St -2.5 over UCLA (9:00p.m., Tuesday December 26 ESPN - Cactus Bowl)

Interesting matchup in the Cactus Bowl in Phoenix, Arizona as the PAC-12 conference will have the UCLA Bruins and the Big 12 conference will have the Kansas St Wildcats. UCLA will be playing for interim head coach Jedd Fisch but on the other side Bill Snyder will have his team ready to battle in PAC-12 country. UCLA comes into this matchup splitting their last 6 games while the Kansas St Wildcats have won 4 out 5. UCLA QB Josh Rosen is scheduled to play in this game but I see the Wildcats winning this game on defense. The Bruins defense has been torched a lot this season and the Bruins 'D' was ranked 122 and if Utah, Washington, Stanford, and Memphis scored over 40 points I see the Wildcats offense putting up some points. Also, look for the Wildcats to establish the run early and if they can run the ball on UCLA that will keep Rosen and the Bruins offense off the field. UCLA is 2-9 ATS following a SU win and the Bruins are 1-7 ATS in their last 8 non-conference games.

A key to the Pistons beating the Pacers is they can control blossoming star Victor Oladipo, who is shooting just 35.5 percent from the field versus Detroit this season. Even though Avery Bradley remains out, the Pistons have other defensive-minded players such as Reggie Bullock and Anthony Tolliver. Both teams have been playing well, but Indiana has met inferior competition in three of its last four games drawing the Hawks and Nets twice. The Pistons enjoy playing in their new home, Little Caesars Arena. It's not too much to ask of them to beat the Pacers at home.

Utah will be up for this game and give how banged up and disappointed West Viriginia is that their quarterback is not playing, it showed in their getting routed by Oklahoma. Utah is a team that is 6-6 and it would look great for this coaching staff to pull a win here against West Virginia for morale for sure. This is a team that would love nothing more than to bring pride to their conference by beating a Big 12 team and the Utes are a discplined Football Team when it comes to their defense as a top 35 defense, a top 50 offense, a team that beat Colorado 31-13 in their last game, lost to Washington by just 3 points as a heavy underdog on the road, beat UCLA 48-17 and nearly beat USC by losing by 1 point on the road which speaks volumes. This team will be up for this game in a big way and West Virginia, without their stud quarterback is walking into a hailstorm as they get up beat up pretty badly by Utah likely here.

Northern Illinois is an elite defense, they get to have a national spotlight against Duke who is a well known commodity and Northern Illinois will be up for this game. As NIU comes off a loss in their last game, 24-31 as a -2.5 favorite and having a sore taste in their mouth, look for them to get back on track here with a quality defensive effort and look for Northern Illinois to step up defensively as they are a top 20 defense, top 15 in rush defense and a top 30 defense in points allowed and they will take great pride in stepping up defenisvely against a good Duke team who has a well known reputation for a decent offense. Look for Northern Illinois to make this game a grind.
