The Houston Rockets are winners of eight in a row and have a chance to go into the All-Star break in first place in the Western Conference with a couple more wins and a little help. The Minnesota Timberwolves, who host the Rockets on Tuesday, are looking for their own momentum heading into the break and have not lost on their home floor since Dec. 16.
The Timberwolves, who host the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday in their final game before the break, pushed their home winning streak to 13 in a row on Sunday but needed to work hard down the stretch to pull off a 111-106 triumph over the West-worst Sacramento Kings. "It's a long season, it really is," reserve guard Jamal Crawford told the Minneapolis Star Tribune. "There will be highs and lows and ebbs and flows, but if we can find ways to win games like even when we're not technically at our best, then it's a good thing for us." Houston won its last four on the road and is making a brief stop in Minnesota after grinding out a 104-97 home win over the Dallas Mavericks. "We wouldn't be anywhere without our defense," Rockets All-Star guard James Harden told reporters. "Whenever we can rely on getting stops and creating opportunities from our defense good things happen offensively for everybody."
