Pick#1: New Orleans Pelicans (+5.5) (Play up to +5)

    Pick#2
Series Play: New Orleans Pelicans to Advance

I expect this series to be very competitive and so, I believe there is value on New Orleans to win this series and also this Game 1. Portland's offense heavily relies on Lillard and McCollum, with their pick n roll plays being their biggest motor on offense. The Pelicans have been a great pick n roll defensive team all season long led by Holiday, who is the best pick n roll ball handler defensive player of the league. Besides playing very well on offense this season, Rondo is also having a good impact on the team, as shown on their spits on the second half of the season:
    With Rondo: PACE=104.3 / OFF=108.6 / DEF=99.2 / NET=+9.3
    Without Rondo: PACE=104.2 / OFF=106.6 / DEF=107.3 / NET=-0.7
Even if we assume that Portland will have some edge on the backcourt, New Orleans will counter with a big edge on the frontcourt. The biggest problem of the Pelicans' defense is that they have a small backcourt with a SF that is actually a SG and they struggled recently on a game at Golden State from that, as Durant had a mega game with 16-26 FG, 4-8 3pts, 5-7 FT for 31 points. However, Portland isn't a good opponent to expose these issues, as they lack a SF who can be an offensive threat to the Pelicans. On the other hand, Mirotic and Davis will be a problem for Portland, as they know how to play away from the basket on offense and make Nurkic clueless on defense, so I believe New Orleans will be a real tough matchup for Portland. So, I'll be taking the Pelicans on Game 1 and also to win the Series.

                        NBA Series Odds:
3-Unit Play. Take Miami (+420) over Philadelphia
The Heat and their coaching staff know what it takes to win in the NBA Playoffs. Yes, the 76ers are on cloud nine right now. They have won 15 games in a row and they are the hottest team in the NBA. This is a "new season" however and regular season prowess goes out the door once the ball is tossed in the air in the playoffs. The Heat matchup well with the 76ers and they have a considerably better coach. Erik Spolestra doesn't get the credit he deserves, as he is one of the NBA's best. Look for the Heat to take advantage of Ben Simmonds not being a great shooter, and forcing the 76ers into playing a style that is not their first choice. Miami wins in 6 games.

7-Unit Play. Take Oklahoma City (-135) over Utah
Utah has been a great story this season, and Quinn Snyder deserves coach of the year in our humble opinion, but they won't get by the Thunder in round one. Russell Westbrook is going to be too much for the Jazz in this one. The "Big Three" know how to play in the playoffs, even though it has been a while for Carmelo Anthony. He hasn't had the best season this year, but don't be surprised to see him play really well in Round 1. OKC can play the same style as the Jazz and having home court advantage will be the difference in this matchup. The Jazz won't win a game in Oklahoma City as that is one of the toughest places to play in the Association, especially in the playoffs. Thunder in 6.

3-Unit Play. Take Cleveland (-650) over Indiana

2-Unit Play. Take Cleveland (+110) to win the Eastern Conference
Don't believe the hype of other teams. LeBron gets to the NBA Finals, and you can't think it any other way. The Pacers, similar to the Jazz have been a great story this season, but this is the NBA Playoffs and we all know that LBJ gets to the Finals, he may not win the title, but you can book your plane tickets to see him play there. The Cavs won't just roll over the Pacers but they will absolutely get by them in Round 1, and make their way to the finals to face off with the Rockets or the Warriors. The juice on the Cavs in the first round is tough but there is great value on them to get all the way to the Finals. Enjoy LeBron in the NBA Finals once again.

                        4-Unit Play. Take #505 Miami (+6.5) over Philadelphia (8 p.m., Saturday, April 14)
This is a tough spot for Philly. They have all the pressure in the world resting on their shoulders as they are playing as good as they possibly can, and they are heavy favorites to win this game and series. Unfortunately for them, this is not the team they want to play in the first round. The Heat are battle tested and they know how to win when they need to. The Heat are 17-6-1 ATS in their last 24 games versus a team with a winning record and they are 3-1-1 ATS in their last five meetings with the 76ers. Take the points here.

7 Unit Play. Take #925 Los Angeles Angels -165 over Kansas City Royals (7:15 PM, Saturday, April 14)
The Los Angeles Angels will look to extend their win streak to seven games when they take on the Royals at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, MO on Saturday night. Garrett Richards (1-0, 4.20 ERA, 1.60 WHIP) will get the start for the Angels and he will be opposed by Jakob Junis (2-0, 0.00 ERA, 0.50 WHIP), who is scheduled to get the call on the hill for the Royals. The Angels have posted a perfect 4-0 record in their last four games where they faced a team from the AL Central and they are also a perfect 5-0 in their last five road games where they face a right-handed starter. They also have that same perfect 5-0 record in their last five Game #3's of a series and they are an impressive 8-0 in their last eight road games overall. The Royals, on the other hand, have struggled a bit in the spot they are in here tonight as they have gone just 1-6 in their last seven games where they faced a righty starter and they have also gone 2-7 in their last nine games when facing a team that scored five runs or more in their previous game. They have also lost each of their last four home games and they are an awful 0-6 when facing a starting pitcher with a WHIP of 1.30 or higher. Throw in the fact that the Angels are 13-3 in their last sixteen games overall going back to the end of the 2017 season while the Royals have lost ten of their last eleven versus a team with a winning % of .600 or higher and we're going to lay the price here with LA to get the road win in Kansas City on Saturday night.
