I'm recommending a play on the Rays as a short road favorite against the Tigers on Tuesday. Tampa Bay is one of the hottest teams in the league right now. With a 3-2 win over Detroit in yesterday's series opener, the Rays have now won 9 of their lats 10 games.
While the offense didn't provide much of a punch yesterday, Tampa Bay has really been swinging the bats well. The Rays are averaging 6.7 runs and hitting .325 as a team over their last 7 games. I look for them to get back on track here against the Tigers' Matt Boyd, who is fresh off his worst start of 2018, as he allowed 4 runs on 7 hits with 3 walks in just 3 2/3 innings at Pittsburgh. Boyd has allowed a homer in each of his last 3 starts and has also struggled with his command with 7 walks during this stretch.
Tampa will counter with Chris Archer, who has had his ups and downs to start out 2018. The overall numbers aren't great for Archer, but we know the talent is there and this Tigers offense isn't very good, plus it's looking like there's a good chance they will be without their best hitter in Miguel Cabrera. Take Tampa Bay!

Kyle Gibson has a 6.24 ERA in two home starts this season. His stuff isn't that great although he did strike out 10 Yankees in his last outing. Gibson has a 4.95 ERA in six career starts against Toronto with the worst of his two efforts in 2017 coming at home against them. The Jays are putting up 5.6 runs per game against right-handed starters and have gone over in four of their last five with the fifth being a push. Marco Estrada is 2-2 with a 6.00 ERA in five starts for the Jays. He's allowed 7 HR's in 27 innings. Minnesota's offense is pretty good and they've gone over in nine of their last 11 contests. Both teams have shaky bullpens. I think this one can go over the total.

The Seattle Mariners come in playing some really good baseball. They are 5-1 in their last six games overall despite playing all six on the road. They took three out of four games from Cleveland over the weekend.
Felix Hernandez has gone 1-1 with a 1.54 ERA and 0.772 WHIP in two home starts this season. Hernandez certainly loves facing the A’s, going 25-10 with a 2.61 ERA and 1.092 WHIP in 47 career starts against them. More recently, he has gone 2-1 with a 1.47 ERA in his last three starts against the A’s.
Andrew Triggs is 2-0 in spite of a 4.70 ERA and 1.348 WHIP in five starts this season. Triggs has never beaten the Mariners, going 0-1 with a 5.17 ERA in three career starts against them.
