Play on: Astros -118 at 5Dimes

Jack’s Free Pick Wednesday: Houston Astros -118
The Houston Astros are showing great value as small road favorites over the Colorado Rockies tonight. They should be bigger favorites based on the fact that they have a huge advantage on the mound in this one.
Charlie Morton has found his groove in Houston. He is 11-2 with a 2.96 ERA and 1.148 WHIP in 19 starts this season with 146 K’s in 112 1/3 innings. The Astros have done an amazing job of developing their starters as I’d put their rotation up against any in baseball.
Jon Gray is 8-7 with a 5.35 ERA and 1.440 WHIP in 18 starts for the Rockies this year. I’m surprised he is getting as much respect from oddsmakers as he is given those poor numbers in a large sample size this year.
Colorado is 1-12 in its last 13 home games vs. AL teams that allow 3.9 or fewer runs per game. Houston is 34-13 as a road favorite of -110 or higher this season, winning by 2.8 runs per game in this spot. The Astros are 7-0 in the last seven meetings. Bet the Astros Wednesday.

        Play on: Angels -1½ -105 at 5Dimes

        Dave’s Wednesday Free Play:
        1* on Los Angeles Angels -1.5 (-105)
The Key: The Los Angeles Angels will be hungry for a victory Wednesday after losing the first two games of this series to the awful Chicago White Sox. They should bounce back with a blowout victory today thanks to their edge on the rubber. Tyler Skaggs takes the ball for the Angels. Skaggs is 7-6 with a 2.68 ERA and 1.22 WHIP in 18 starts this year. James Shields is 4-10 with a 4.22 ERA in 21 starts for the White Sox, including 1-5 with a 5.36 ERA in 8 road starts. Shields is 9-40 in his last 49 starts as an underdog of +150 or more, and his teams are losing by 2.7 RPG in this spot. Shields is 1-15 on the road against a team that slugs .410 or less over the last 3 seasons, and his teams are losing by 3.5 RPG in this spot. The White Sox are 5-21 in Shields’ last 26 road starts overall. Take Los Angeles on the Run Line.

          Play on: UNDER 8½ +100

Take Under the Total in the game between the San Francisco Giants and the Seattle Mariners listing both starting pitchers Derek Holland and Mike Leake. San Francisco (52-50) won the opening game of this series yesterday with their 4-3 victory last night. The Under is then 6-0-1 in the Giants’ last 7 games after a loss. San Francisco has also played 6 of their last 7 games Under the Total on the road. Seattle (60-41) has played 8 of their last 11 games Under the Total after a loss. The Mariners have also seen the Under go 5-2-1 in their last 8 games at home. Take the Under. Best of luck — Frank.

            MLB | Giants vs Mariners
Play on: Giants +132 at BetPhoenix

MLB free picks are 21-10 L31. MLB paid picks are 55-38 (59%) since 4/21/2018!
San Francisco (Holland) @ Seattle (Leake) 4:10 PM ET
            Game# 975-976
            Play On: San Francisco +132
Seattle’s Mike Leake has compiled an awful 2.21 WHIP throughout his last 3 starts and is quite fortunate to only have 5.79 ERA during that period. Seattle is 44-25 this season when facing right-handed starting pitchers and $100 bettors profited $1970 in those precise scenarios. However, the Mariners will be facing a lefty today, and they’ve gone just 16-16 this year when facing southpaws and lost $100 bettors $510 in those 32 games. The Mariners bats have been silent of late and they’ve gathered a poor .607 team OPS thru their past 7 games.
Derek Holland has exhibited good form over his last 6 starts and that’s proven by a stellar 2.78 ERA during that span. The Giants bullpen has been solid over their last 7 games while collecting a shiny 2.30 ERA. Bet the Giants on the money line for my Wednesday 7/25 MLB free pick of the day.

The Seattle Mariners should get back in the win column after a tough loss to the Giants yesterday. I like what I’ve seen from Seattle starter Mike Leake this season. He is 8-6 with a 4.22 ERA in 20 starts. Leake has allowed 2 runs or fewer in six of his last nine starts against the Giants. Derek Holland has allowed 4 earned runs or more in five of his last eight starts against the Mariners. He is 3-4 with a 5.44 ERA in those eight starts while allowing 29 earned runs in 48 innings. Holland is 3-5 with a 4.18 ERA and 1.49 WHIP in 10 road starts this year. The Giants are 42-89 in their last 131 road games vs. a team with a winning record. The Mariners are 24-9 in their last 33 home games. Give me the Mariners.

MLB | Twins vs Blue Jays
Play on: Blue Jays -108 at 5Dimes

My free play is on the Tor Blue Jays at 7:05 ET. The 46-53 Minnesota Twins (46-53) hope to cap a three-game sweep of the Toronto Blue Jays (46-54) at Rogers Centre on Wednesday, after 8-3 (Mon) and 5-3 (Tue) wins the last two days. Minnesota has answered a three-game slide with back-to-back victories, as Eduardo Escobar belted a three-run HR in Tuesday's 5-0 romp to improve to 4-for-7 with three extra-base hits and five RBI in the series. Meanwhile Toronto has managed just three runs in consecutive losses, after erupting for 17 in a three-game sweep of sad-sack Baltimore.
Ervin Santana went 16-8 with a 3.28 ERA for the Twins in 2017, after winning winning just seven games in both 2015 and 2016 for Minnesota. The 35-year-old vet returns from a lengthy absence due to surgery to remove calcium deposits from his right middle finger in February. He will be activated off the disabled list to make his season 2018 debut and make his 20th career start against Toronto (he is 6-7 with a 3.84 ERA in his career against the Blue Jays). Santana is expected to give Minnesota a jolt after allowing one run over six innings in a rehab start on Friday, dropping his ERA to 3.72 in seven starts at three levels in the minors.
Toronto's Sam Gaviglio (2-3, 4.59 ERA) will oppose Santana. He saw his winless skid reach 10 outings on Friday, after allowing four runs on seven hits over a career-high 7 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the Orioles. Gaviglio served up two HRs vs Baltimore and has now allowed 12 'big flys' in his last 11 outings. In two career starts against the Twins, both coming season, he is 1-0 with a 4.35 ERA (team went 1-1).
This marks the final meeting of the season between the teams (the Twins lead 3-2) and while Gaviglio will be looking for his first win since May 25 (he is 0-3 with a 5.33 ERA in 10 starts since / team is 5-5), I will favor the Jays in this one. Santana is returning after having a calcium deposit removed from his right middle finger on Feb 6 and his velocity might be a concern. His fastball was usually timed at 89-90 mph during his seven rehabilitation appearances. "It was a lot of ups and downs, but the good thing is I kept my mind positive," Santana said. "It's crazy. But at the same time, it was a surgery. You can't predict when you're coming back because you didn't know how the finger was going to react and all that." No sweep here. Take Toronto.
                Good luck...Larry

1* Free Sharp Play on Twins +107
My money is on Minnesota to cash in another win over the Blue Jays and secure a series sweep. The Twins won the series opener 8-3 on Monday and followed that up with a 5-0 win on Tuesday. Minnesota is now an impressive 12-2 in their last 14 against the AL East. They are also 8-3 in their last 11 after scoring 5 or more runs and 7-3 in their last 10 off a win. Twins will send out Ervin Santana for his first start of 2018 and I like his chances of pitching well given the Blue Jays recent struggles at the plate. Santana posted a strong 3.28 ERA and 1.13 WHIP in 33 starts last year. As for Toronto, they will turn to Sam Gaviglio, who has really struggled of late, posting a 7.81 ERA and 1.500 WHIP in his last 3 starts. Bet the Twins +107!

This is a 1* Free Play on the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
Winnipeg smashed Toronto 38-20 last weekend and we think an even bigger blowout is in the cards this week. After suffering a horrible second half collapse in BC the week before, Matt Nichols and the Blue Bombers were firing on all cylinders against the defending champs last week. Argos’ backup QB James Franklin struggled for the most part against Winnipeg’s aggressive defensive attack and clearly it’s not going to get any easier tonight in this hostile environment. There are no easy answers for Toronto, which has dealt with chemistry issues from the “get go” this season. Note that the BOMBERS are 7-2 ATS in their last nine after scoring 36 or more points in their previous outing. Consider the home side in this one.

MIT Simulator Wednesday MLB Free Pick: UNDER 8.5 in Cleveland - The Pirates have certainly been the hottest team in baseball of late and have been red hot at the plate too. However, a pitchers' duel appears likely in this afternoon match-up Wednesday. The Indians Bauer is 4-1 with a 2.23 ERA in his 10 home starts this season. Cleveland O/U is 2-8 in Bauer's last 10 starts. The Pirates Taillon has allowed 3 earned runs or less in 10 straight starts and 17 of his 20 starts on the season. Indians O/U is 4-10 in Wednesday games this season. Pirates O/U is 8-13-2 in road games with an O/U of 8 or 8.5 runs this season. Considering all of the above it is easy to see why MIT Simulator is forecasting that this one stays UNDER
