Two of the worst 3 teams in the National League square off in a game only a bettor could love. Despite frustrating seasons The Reds Luis Castillo and The Padres Eric Lauer both pitched outstanding in their last start. Both pitchers gave up no earned runs in 5+ innings. Although Castillo has been the better pitcher of the two overall this season the two aren't that far apart and neither are the two offenses for the Reds to be favored by this much. The price is right to take the Padres in this one especially with Lauer and the Padres offense playing better the last couple of weeks.

I’ll take a shot with the Toronto Blue Jays as home underdogs to the Cleveland Indians tonight. The Indians are in a unique situation here. They have nothing to play for the rest of the way. They have basically clinched the AL Central already, and they can’t improve their playoff seeding. They’ve just been going through the motions because of it at 6-8 in their last 14 games overall.
Shane Bieber shouldn’t be getting this much respect from oddsmakers. Bieber is 8-3 this season in spite of a 4.55 ERA and 1.353 WHIP. He is also 2-1 with a 5.83 ERA in his last three starts.
Sam Gaviglio has been awful on the road, but awesome at home this season. Gaviglio is 1-1 with a 2.73 ERA in nine home starts with 53 K’s in 52 2/3 innings. I expect him to shut down the Indians tonight.
Cleveland is a woeful 17-21 (-15.1 units) as a favorite of -125 to -175 this season. The Indians are 1-4 in their last five road games. The Blue Jays are 7-3 in their last 10 home games. Bet the Blue Jays Thursday.

On the mound for the Padres is Eric Lauer who comes into this game with a lot of confidence after giving up only one hit in his last start.
Luis Castillo is on the mound for the Reds who is inconsistent and isn't worth the price you would have to lay for the Reds.

Place a 5-star wager on the Atlanta Falcons using the line, which currently prices them as 2.5-point road dogs.

This was written Tuesday, and the line started to drift towards 2 and the news of several large bets were placed on Atlanta adding additional weight to the line decline, which is now at pick-em. I like getting the Cubs as underdogs to the Nationals today. The Cubs are trying to win the NL Central, while the Nationals have traded away several players as they realize they won’t be going to the postseason right now. So it’s two total different mindsets, and I like the mindset of the Cubs here a lot more. I also believe Kyle Hendricks to be the better starter in this matchup. He is 11-10 with a 3.77 ERA in 28 starts this year, including 2-1 with a 1.35 ERA in his last three starts. Stephen Strasburg is 7-7 with a 4.09 ERA in 17 starts this year, but just 2-5 with a 5.40 ERA in 10 home starts. The Cubs are 6-1 in Hendricks’ last seven starts. The Cubs are 6-2 in Hendricks’ last eight starts against the Nationals. Give me the Cubs.
