Monday's Selection ...
For Monday, Top-Rated 1000♦ is the New Orleans Saints at home over Washington. At 9:00 am eastern, the Saints are -6 points in Vegas and offshore.
This is a sucker-line - plain and simple - as the oddsmakers WANT you to back the rested, 2-1 Redskins plus the points tonight.
They know everyone remembers last November when Washington led New Orleans in the Superdome, 24-13 after 3 quarters of play, only to see the 'Skins spit the bit in an 18-7 last quarter, and then give up a field goal in OT to lose, 34--31.
In that game, Washington was +9 1/2 points. Tonight the price is a little lower, but all of the stats and trends point towards a play on them. They even have a former Saint - Adrian Peterson - who has been running like his salad days in Minnesota looking to stick it to his former employer!
I don't think it matters one lick. This is New Orleans on a Monday night, and that "voodoo stuff" that Robbie Robertson once sang about is REAL on the bayou.
Drew Brees can make this a record-setting night (most passing yards in league history - also seeking 500 career TD passes!), and he does have Mark Ingram back from suspension to pound away on the ground.
The Saints know that the Falcons are in the division rear-view, but they also know that the Panthers posted a last-second win yesterday too.
I expect New Orleans to be up for this one, and while the price is juicy, have to side with the host to get it done.
