NCAA-B | West Virginia vs Florida
Play on: Florida -1½ -108 at 5Dimes
1* Free NCAAB Pick on Florida Gators -1.5
I'm expecting Florida to lay one on the Mountaineers in the second-leg of Tuesday's Jimmy V Classic (held at Madison Square Garden) double-header on ESPN.
West Virginia went 26-11 last year and come into this game with a 5-2 record and riding a 4-game winning streak. I got a lot of respect for head coach Bob Huggins, but he lost a lot from last year's team, most notably do-it-all Jevon Carter. Experience and leadership are critical for the Mountaineers success with that unique play style.
I just don't think this is going to be one of Huggins' better teams and we have already saw signs of that, as they lost at home to Buffalo in the first game of the season and later fell to Western Kentucky.
Florida comes in at 4-3, but those 3 losses are against the likes of Florida State, Oklahoma and Butler. The Gators are extremely well-balanced with 8 players averaging between 6.4 ppg and 10.9 ppg. They should have no problem cracking the West Virginia press and I think it won't take long for them to take complete control of this game.
Last time out Gators won 98-66. Going back over the last 5 seasons, neutral court favorites in a game involving two teams who are outscoring opponents by at least 8 ppg are 103-62 (62.4%) ATS if they are coming off a strong offensive game where they scored 85 or more. Take Florida!
