Marist is one of the most experienced teams in the nation as first-year head coach John Dunne inherited a senior class that scored 62 percent of the Red Foxes' points last season, together with their top seven in minutes played. Meanwhile, Iona was once again expected to contend for the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference title this season but injuries have depleted the Gaels chances of making a postseason run. Senior forward Roland Griffin, who averaged 11.2 points and 5.2 rebounds in 2017-18, is sidelined with an injury. Junior transfer Isaiah Ross, who averaged 11.3 points per game at UMKC in 2017-18, has yet to see the floor this season for the Gaels.
