This game is being played on Memphis’ home court and I don’t think that is being factored into this line. My ratings favor Houston by just 7 points using half a home court advantage (0 road disadvantage for Houston but 1.6 points home court advantage for Memphis) and Memphis applies to a 137-46-5 ATS strong home court underdog situation that plays on home dogs of 6 points or more with a very good straight up home record over the previous 3 seasons. Memphis is playing better of late (8-2 straight up and 7-3 ATS their last 10 games), as their defensive effort has improved. In fact, Memphis allowed 44.1% over their first 22 games and they’ve given up just 39.1% shooting over their last 11 games. I’ll lean with Memphis at +8 or more.

One of my favorite angles in Conference tournament action is when a Top team has a scare but gets the victory. Villanova was taken to OT yesterday by Xavier before winning by 4. Villanova was -7 so they won but didn’t cover. When this situation occurs it’s usually a great wake up call for the team and they generally deliver a big effort next time out. In fact over the last 2 seasons Villanova has won but not covered 13 times and in their next game they are a PERFECT 13-0 ATS and the average margin of victory in those 13 games was 19.3 PPG. Villanova is also 17-3 ATS on a neutral court the last 2 seasons with the average margin of victory 17.2 PPG. My numbers have Villanova winning by 9-11 points.

The Jayhawks have been hampered all season with injuries and controversies and have not been able to find any consistency for any length of time. Iowa State has won two straight after snapping a three-game slide. Kansas did not fare well against Iowa State this season going 1-1 SU and 0-2 ATS.
