MLB | Indians vs Twins
Play on: Twins +108 at pinnacle
MIKE LUNDIN'S INDIANS @ TWINS FREE PICK
The Cleveland Indians have won three consecutive American League Central Division championships, but the Minnesota Twins are expected to give them a run for their money this year. I think the Twins will come out ahead of the season-opener Thursday afternoon.
Minnesota right-hander Jose Berrios finished last year with 202 strikeouts through 192 1/3 innings of work. Berrios was 1-0 with a 4.24 ERA and a .197 AVG in three starts against Cleveland last year while fanning 17 through 17 frames. The Twins are 21-6 in Berrios' last 27 home starts and 10-4 in his last 14 starts against divisional foes.
Cleveland counters with right-hander Corey Kluber who compiled a 20-7 record and 2.89 ERA in 2018. He was 1-1 with a 4.34 ERA in three starts against Minnesota and served up three homers through his 18 2/3 innings on the mound. The Indians are 1-4 in Kluber's last five road starts.
Cleveland lost 10 of its 11 free agents during the off-season and will begin the season with Francisco Lindor, second baseman Jason Kipnis and outfielder Bradley Zimmer on the injured list. Minnesota will also have a different look since last year, but it has added several interesting pieces. This is a good enough price to back the home team. Free pick on Minnesota Twins.

NHL | Islanders vs Jets
Play on: Jets -147 at pinnacle
My 1* Free Play is on the Winnipeg Jets (8:05 EST).
Both teams are going to be in the playoffs. The Jets have a two points lead over Nashville, but after a 5-2 home loss to the Stars, I look for the home side to keep the foot on the gas from start to finish tonight.
The Isles had a two game win streak snapped in a 4-0 loss at Columbus on Tuesday. New York is backing its way into the playoffs, having managed only six goals over its last five games (four of which came in a win over Philly on Saturday.)
With just a handful of games remaining and still caught in a tight race with Nashville for top spot in the Central, while also coming off a poor setback at home to Dallas, I have a hard time seeing the home side not being completely focused on the task at hand here.
The Islanders on the other hand clearly appear to be running out of gas as the campaign winds down.
I think the home side is well worth the price of admission in this matchup.
Consider Winnipeg Thursday.
Good luck…Larry

NHL | Stars vs Oilers
Play on: Oilers +103 at betonline
Ricky's 1* FREE PLAY on the Edmonton Oilers.
Key Angle: It's important to remember that Ricky never makes a bet on any game based on just one angle. In order to make the grade, all his premium picks must meet several important criteria. He doesn't share all his secrets within his analysis, instead he chooses to reveal only the angle that he feels is the most significant.
- Two key angles today. The Stars just defeated the Flames 2-1 in Calgary last night and I believe they’ll be completely “gassed” here in the second game of the back-to-back situation. The other key angle is that Edmonton needs to win out essentially to make the playoffs and it’s started out a five-game home-stand by going 2-0-1.
Key Trends:
- The Oilers are 5-1 in their last six in this series at home.
- The Stars are only 29-63 in their last 92 in the second game of the back-to-back situation.
The verdict: Great value on the desperate home side. Consider the Oilers on Thursday!

NHL | Kings vs Canucks
Play on: Canucks -136 at betonline
The set-up: After winning three straight, the Kings predictably fell 8-4 in Edmonton in the second game of a back to back after winning the first one 3-0 in Calgary. LA goaltender Jon Quick is 15-22-6 overall with a 3.35 GAA. Quick faced the Canucks once this season and came out on the losing end of a 4-3 shootout. Overall LA averages 2.39 GPG, while allowing 3.16. Vancouver has lost three in a row, but with just a handful of home games left to go, I think the Canucks come to play tonight. Vancouver enters averaging 2.69 GPG, while allowing 3.08. Canucks’ goaltender Jacob Markstrom though is 27-22-9 overall with 2.78 GAA (also note that he’s already 2-0-1 with a 2.26 GAA vs. the Kings this year.)
The pick: Take it for what you will as well, but LA is just 33-36 (-8.1 units) in its last 69 after scoring four or more goals in its previous contest, while Vancouver is interestingly 9-6 (+5.2 units) after playing three straight home games this season. Home ice is a difference maker here in my opinion. I like Vancouver. How about you?
