IMPETU - Based on this gelding's recent efforts, he should be aided by this shorter trip. Silva brings this gelding back into a race rather than a workout. He knows his gelding is on top of his game. This horse obviously likes the conditions for today's race. Has recorded the highest Equibase speed figure on the grass at the distance-surface. I may not be the best handicapper in the world, but I know a good thoroughbred when I see one. Last three races before this one have been strong for this horse. Based on that, should do well today. PRIMO TOUCH - Have to make this gelding a solid contender; he comes off a good contest on March 19th. Multiple wins over the surface right here at Turf Paradise. Maybe, another trip to the winner's circle right here. This racer loves the track here at Turf Paradise. GREYFLOWER - Many positive 'vibes' attached to this campaigner and his connections.

DRUMMER DON - Expect this horse to be way back early and come finishing strongly. RIGHTEOUS - This rider/trainer duo has been producing a very profitable ROI, right at +22. Taking a trip down in class; has the ability to make his presence felt. This campaigner coming off a nice effort in the last month or so is a strong challenger in my opinion.

When looking at today's Equibase class figure, he will have to garner a better fig than in the last race to compete in this dirt sprint.

The Chicago Cubs lost for the seventh time in eight games as they suffered a 4-2 defeat at Milwaukee on Sunday. I think they look like a good fade again here when hosting the Pittsburgh Pirates for their home opener Monday afternoon.
The Bucs are coming off a four-game sweep of the Cincinnati Reds and will hand the ball to right-hander Jameson Taillon (0-1, 3.46 ERA) who is 4-3 with a 3.88 ERA in eight career starts against the Cubs. He's had good success at Wrigley Field where he owns a 2.50 ERA in three outings. The Pirates are 10-4 in Taillon's last 14 road starts.
The Cubs hand the ball to left-hander Jon Lester (1-0, 3.00 ERA) who has held opponents to two runs in six innings in both starts this season, but note that the Cubs' bullpen ranks dead last in the major leagues with a 7.51 ERA on the season.
All in all, this is a good enough price to back the visitors.

I'll take my chances here with Chicago as a small home favorite. The Cubs are off to a miserable 2-7 start to the season, but not a single one of those games have come at Wrigley Field. Chicago was one of just 6 teams to win 50 or more games at home last year.
The poor record has really covered up a sensational start to the season by the Cubs offense, which leads the MLB in both average and on-base percentage. The pitching has simply not been up to par, but as long as they keep swinging the bats like this the wins are going to come.
Hard to not like their chances of cashing in a win in their home opener behind ace Jon Lester, who has been one of the bright spots in the rotation. Lester has lasted 6 innings and gave up just 2 runs in each of his first 2 starts. He has a 2.51 ERA over the last 3 seasons in the month of April. Give me the Cubs -120!
