The Golden State Warriors have been waiting patiently for the postseason, and now the two-time defending champs have a chance to flex their muscles. I'll lay the points in Game 2, after seeing Golden State overcome 21 turnovers and an ejection of Kevin Durant during a 121-104 victory in Game 1. The Warriors won't be as undisciplined in this one, and will look to deal a severe blow to the mental psyche of the Los Angeles Clippers.

Forget about the sloppy play, let's talk about the defense that led Golden State to blocking 14 shots and limiting the Clippers to 40.4 percent shooting. Let's talk about the game-high 38 points from Stephen Curry, with most of his points coming on 8-for-12 shooting on 3-pointers.

Oh and by the way, Curry also registered a postseason career-high 15 rebounds, helping Golden State clean glass in dominating fashion, with a 53-40 edge on the boards.

Golden State, which is averaging 117.7 points per game, has upped that of late, with 120.2 points per game in its last five. And when you couple that with the Clippers' 129.2 allowance to teams in their last five, it makes for a bad combination for Los Angeles' sake.

The Clippers have lost four of five, including Game 1, and two of those games were to these Warriors by an average margin of 22 points. After losing the season's first meeting, Golden State has won the last four battles by an average margin of 16 points.

This being the playoffs, and knowing the Warriors can turn it on when they want to, I am laying the points and anticipate another blowout.

              5* WARRIORS

I will give you the winner in Game Two here on Monday.

38 points, eight 3-pointers, 15 rebounds and 7 assists. So much for the ankle injury suffered late last week, as Steph Curry continues to show why he is truly one of the best to ever play the game. Curry led Golden State to the Game One 17-point win and cover, and I expect him to have another major hand in leading the Warriors to another home win and cover tonight against the young and over-matched Los Angeles Clippers.

The Clippers did do one thing well on Saturday, as guard Patrick Beverley did engage Kevin Durant enough for them both to draw double-technicals, as they both were ejected with under 5 minutes remaining in regulation. Durant did wind up with 23 points as he was the Dubs second-leading scorer. He would be best served voiding any further technicals lest he risk being suspended for a game somewhere later down the road in this postseason.

Los Angeles has now lost each of the last 4 season series meetings against Golden State, as they have also failed against the spread in each of their last 3 losses to the Warriors. Important to note that Golden State has controlled the glass in those wins, as they have out-rebounded L.A. by 13, 9, 9 and 4 in those 4 victories. That is a telling stat, and I am not sure Doc Rivers has an answer for how to remedy that glaring deficiency?

About the only area where the Clips excelled on Saturday was their bench scoring which saw Lou Williams net 25 points and drop 9 assists, while Montrezl Harrell went a blistering 11-of-15 from the floor for 26 points. I'm afraid the Clippers will need more contributions from some of the other players - especially Beverley and Landry Shamet who combined for only 6-points - if the Clippers are to stay in this game.

As for the Warriors, when you consider that Klay Thompson "only" scored a dozen points, and you consider that Boogie Cousins fouled-out with just 9 points scored, you get the definite feeling that even though they were 17 points winners in Game One, there is a big upside here for them to dominate again in Game Two with someone other than Curry going off. That is why the Dubs have dominated in the NBA for a while now, you never know who it is going to be on a nightly basis, and when they are all clicking - watch out!

No issue laying the lumber once again, as Golden State heads down to Los Angeles with another comfortable win and cover.

                4* GOLDEN STATE

My free winner for Monday night is on the ice, where I'm playing the Calgary Flames on the road against the Colorado Avalanche.

It's hard to ignore the Carolina Hurricanes, and the electricity that arena brings, but I don't know if I want to lay money to the defending Stanley Cup champs. I also wanted to use the Toronto Maple Leafs, but without Kadri, things could be tough against an angry Boston team.

So that leaves me with the Western Conference's top seed, and the one of two goalies who has impressed me thus far.

I know the Avalanche beat the Flames in Game 2, but Calgary netminder Mike Smith is playing well, and I won't hold some of those goals on Saturday against him or the team he says hasn't played its best hockey yet. He knows, if not for a sluggish start Saturday, the Flames were a mere two or three shifts away from taking a 2-0 series lead.

And lest we forget the West's No. 1 seed was one of the top road teams in the NHL this season, ending with a record of 24-15-2 with a suitcase in hand. The Flames also ended the regular season tied for the fewest goals allowed on the road with 98. Johnny Gaudreau leads the Flames in points on the road with 44 (18 goals, 26 assists) of his 99 points coming in opponents’ barns. That’s tied for the 12th most road points in the NHL.
The Flames are 6-3-1 in their last ten games in Colorado, so confidence shouldn't be hard to come by tonight.

Monday comp play comes in the NHL playoffs, as I see the Calgary Flames and the Colorado Avalanche playing another game that holds Under the posted total.

These teams just completed a pair of games in Calgary that both held Under the total. Game One was a 4-0 Under in favor of the host Flames. Game Two saw the Avs squeeze past Calgary, 3-2 in overtime.

Expect the goals to once again be hard to come by, as both teams entered the playoffs playing some defensive-minded hockey, Calgary holding Under in their final pair of regular season contests, and holding Under the total in 7 of their last 10 to close out the season. Add 'em up, and that is now 9 of 12 Under for the Flames as they get set to skate in the Mile High City tonight.

Colorado ended their regular season by playing Under in 8 of their last 11 regular season games, and are now 10-3 Under the total as they get set to host this home playoff tilt tonight.

2 of the last 3 regular season series meetings between the teams in Denver have held Under the total, and 3 of the last 5 games played between the teams have also held Under.

Goalie Mike Smith and Philipp Grubauer have been locked in, and my feeling is they stay locked in tonight in what I see a close, low-scoring affair.

First pair in the series have played Under, this one plays Under the total too!

                    3* CALGARY-COLORADO UNDER

Play on: Cardinals +123 at sportsbook

                          Cardinals
The St. Louis Cardinals have picked up steam by winning six of their last seven games as they look to make some headway in what is expected to be an ultra-competitive National League Central this season. The Cardinals aim to continue their winning ways on Monday when they play the opener of a three-game series versus the host Milwaukee Brewers, who won three of four from visiting St. Louis to begin the season.

St. Louis slugger Marcell Ozuna, who belted a pair of homers in Sunday's 9-5 win over Cincinnati in Mexico, hit safely in all four games against Milwaukee and scored a run in each of the last three.
PITCHING MATCHUP: Cardinals RH Dakota Hudson (0-1, 2.79 ERA) vs. Brewers RH Freddy Peralta (1-0, 6.91)

Hudson didn't fare well in his first start against Milwaukee, allowing solo homers to Christian Yelich and Shaw as well as a two-run shot to Mike Moustakas among seven hits over 4 1/3 innings of a 4-2 setback on March 30. The 24-year-old, who allowed just two hits over 3 1/3 scoreless innings of relief versus the Brewers last season, rebounded by retiring two batters in a brief relief appearance at Pittsburgh on April 3. Hudson worked around four walks and six hits over 4 2/3 scoreless innings in a no-decision versus the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday.

Peralta sputtered out of the blocks in his season-opening start, yielding four runs on six hits across three innings of a no-decision against St. Louis. The 22-year-old Dominican pitched better in a pair of outings versus the Cardinals last season, allowing three runs in six frames of a 5-2 setback on Aug. 17 before surrendering a lone run in 3 2/3 innings on Sept. 24. Peralta rebounded from his season-opening start in a big way by scattering two hits and striking out 11 in eight innings of a 1-0 win at Cincinnati before getting shredded for seven runs on eight hits - including two homers - in 3 1/3 frames of a no-decision against the Los Angeles Angels.
Cardinals are 6-1 in their last 7 overall. Brewers are 3-7 in their last 10 home games following a road trip of 7 or more days.
Take St. Louis on the road.

The Key: The Cardinals are definitely worth a shot today at this underdog price considering the advantage they should have on the rubber. Dakota Hudson sports a 3.00 ERA in his 2 starts this season, while Freddy Peralta sports a 6.91 ERA in his 3 starts for the Brewers. Peralta is 0-1 with a 7.00 ERA in 2 lifetime starts against the Cardinals. The Cardinals are 5-0 in their last 5 against a team with a winning record. Take St. Louis.

Take Under the Total in the game between the Brooklyn Nets and the Philadelphia 76ers. Brooklyn (43-40) won the opening game of this series on Saturday with their 112-102 upset victory over the 76ers. The Nets have then played 8 of their last 10 games Under the Total after a straight-up win. Brooklyn has scored 111 and 113 points in their last two games — and they have played 17 of their last 24 games Under the Total after scoring at least 110 points in two straight games. Philadelphia has played 7 of their last 9 games Under the Total after a home loss to an Atlantic Division rival. The 76ers have also played 8 of their last 10 games Under the Total in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals. Take the Under. Best of luck — Frank.
