NHL | Blue Jackets vs Bruins
Play on: Bruins -149 at betonline

The set-up: Yes Columbus somehow managed to dispatch the Lightning in four games in Round 1 and it comes in rested compared to Boston, which needed seven games to advance past the Leafs. But I think the extra time off will in fact be detrimental to the Blue Jackets’ momentum. Columbus was one of the best down the stretch of the regular season and that momentum got carried over vs. the Lightning, but I think it finally comes out flat here. The Bruins come in off an exhausting series, but they’ve done well against Columbus goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky, as he’s just 3-8 with a 3.90 GAA lifetime vs. Boston. The Bruins were 31-14 at home and were led by Tuukka Rask, who is 15-8 with a 2.32 GAA in Boston and who is 9-6 with a 2.67 GAA lifetime vs. Columbus.
The pick: Take it for what you will as well, but Columbus is still only 18-38 in its last 56 as a road underdog in the +110 to +150 range, while Boston is 29-11 in its last 40 as a favorite in the -150 to -200 range. Consider the home side in Game 1.

      NBA | Nuggets vs Spurs
      Play on: Spurs -2½ -110 at 5Dimes

T.M. Selection: San Antonio Spurs (1* FREE PLAY)
It’s a BIG game between the Nuggets and the Spurs in Game 6 in San Antonio. Both teams have looked great in this series and each has looked poor as well. With their backs against the wall though, I think the Spurs offer great value to extend this series to a decisive Game 7. The Spurs have been better at home all year than on the road and that matters here. So does the veteran leadership that San Antonio coach Gregg Popovich brings to the table. Denver has exceeded expectations this season, but it definitely struggled with consistency down the stretch. Note that the Nuggets are just 18-25 ATS on the road this year, while the Spurs are 14-5 ATS this season as a home favorite of six points or less. Buckle up boys, we’re heading to a Game 7!

          NHL | Stars vs Blues
Play on: Stars +136 at pinnacle

Ricky's 1* Free Play on the Dallas Stars.
Key Angle: It's important to remember that Ricky never makes a bet on any game based on just one angle. In order to make the grade, all his premium picks must meet several important criteria. He doesn't share all his secrets within his analysis, instead he chooses to reveal only the angle that he feels is the most significant.
          - Stars’ net minder Ben Bishop. Note that only one other regular goaltender (the Islanders’ Robin Lehner) has a higher save percentage in the first round than Bishop’s .945. Bishop stopped 47 of 48 shots in his team’s 2-1 OT win over the favored Predators in his most recent and I think he offers great value to carry his team to another win in Game 1 vs. St. Louis.
The verdict: With the Flames, Predators and Jets all eliminated, it’s a free for all in the Western Conference. The Blues are riding a hot rookie goaltender (Jordan Binnington), but I’ll take his veteran counterpart in Game 1. Also note that the Stars have to be feeling pretty confident here after taking three of four from the Blues in the regular season. Great value, consider Dallas on Thursday night!

                        Seattle Slew Of Runs?

The Texas Rangers have recalled LHP Taylor Hearn from Triple-A to make his major league debut on Thursday night opposite Mariners LHP Marco Gonzales at T-Mobile Park in Seattle. The Rangers originally wanted to keep their Top 10 prospect from making the bigs until around or after the All-Star break, but they used RHP Adrian Sampson in relief on Wednesday, and they decided to pull the trigger on Hearn now. The over has connected in four of the past five games for the Rangers inside the American League West Division, and it has hit in five of the past six games against teams with a winning record, too. The over is also 4-0 in the past four following a loss for Texas. And, for whatever it's worth, the over is 7-1 in the past eight games on a Thursday for the Rangers.

The over has connected in six straight home games for the Mariners against a left-handed starting pitcher, while going 6-0 in their past six overall vs. LHP, too. In addition, the M's have gotten off to a high-scoring start lately, hitting the over in Game 1 in each of their past six series. The over hasn't been popular in starts by LHP Marco Gonzales, however, as the under is 3-0-1 in his past four starts, while going 4-1 in the past five home outings by Gonzo. The under is also 4-1 in his past five starts against AL West foes, too. In this series, the under is 4-1 in the past five meetings, and 4-1 in the past five battles at T-Mobile Park, too.

                        Looking Ahead

The Marlins and Phillies tangle in the City of Brotherly Love, and Philadelphia RHP Aaron Nola is looking for a little consistency. He is 2-0 through his first five starts across 25 innings, but he has a 6.84 ERA while the 'over' has connected in each of his first outings, including 4-0 in four outings against NL East foes. The over is also 10-3 in Game 1 of a new series for the Phillies, and 8-2 in their past 10 home games vs. LHP. For LHP Caleb Smith, the over is 4-1 in his past five road outings, and 5-2 in his past seven appearances. The under is 6-1 in Miami's past seven overall, and 4-0 in the past four against teams with a winning overall record. The under is 4-1 in their past five vs. RHP, too. In this series, the over is 4-0-1 in the past five in Philly, and 5-1 in the past six meetings overall.

The Yankees and Angels hit the over again on Wednesday, and the over is 4-1 in New York's past five overall, and 4-1 in their past five vs. RHP, too. The over is 12-2 in the past 14 road outings vs. RHP, too. However, the under is 6-1-1 in Masahiro Tanaka's past eight road outings, and 23-11 in his past 34 tries against AL West opponents. For the Halos, the over is 4-1 in their past five overall, 4-1 in the past five home games and 4-1 in the past five against teams with a winning record. However, the under is 11-4 in the past 15 in this series in Anaheim, while going 5-1 in Tanaka's past six starts against the Halos.

                        Wind Report

The winds will be mostly tranquil across MLB on Thursday. If wind does play a factor anywhere, it will be Fenway Park with a gentle 6-9 mph breeze blowing right to left across the infield. The winds will also be blowing in from 5-8 mph for the afternoon battle between the Dodgers and Cubs, but it will mostly be neutral.

                        Friday, April 26

The over has connected in six of the past eight games overall for the O's, while the over is 4-1 in their past five games against teams with a winning record. The over is also 6-2 in their past eight vs. LHP, while going 6-1 in Alex Cobb's past seven starts. The over is also 5-2 in his past seven road outings against teams with a winning overall mark. For the Twins, the over is 5-2 in their past seven overall, and 4-1 in the past five following a scheduled day off. The over is 4-1 in the past five in this series, too.

The Angels and Royals have a battle of left-handed starting pitchers facing each other, as LHP Tyler Skaggs (ankle) returns from the 10-day injured list to face LHP Danny Duffy. The over is 9-2-1 in the past 12 road games for the Halos, and 4-0-1 in Skaggs' past five outings overall. The under is also 4-0 in the past four road games vs. LHP for the Angels. For K.C., the over has cashed in four of the past five overall, and 4-1-1 in their past six vs. LHP. In addition, the over is 19-7-3 in the past 29 home games for the Royals, while going a perfect 6-0 in Duffy's past six home outings.

The Pirates and Dodgers kick off a set in Chavez Ravine. The under is 5-2 in the past seven road outings, and 6-2 in their past eight against AL West foes. The under is also 14-6 in the past 20 on the road against teams with a winning overall record. For the Dodgers, the under is 5-0 in the past five home games, 8-1 in the past nine vs. RHP and 20-4-2 in the past 26 at home against teams with a winning overall mark. The under is also 5-1 in Hyun-Jin Ryu's past six home outings against a team with a winning record, and 8-2 in his past 10 overall against winning teams. In this series, the over is 5-0 in the past five meetings, and 6-2 in the past eight meetings in L.A.

                        Wind Report

The Marlins and Phillies will face very breezy conditions on Friday evening, blowing out at 14-17 mph to the left-center field power alley. That is, if the game gets underway. The forecast is calling for a 75 percent or greater chance of rain starting at 7 p.m. ET, so it wouldn't be surprising to see this one scheduled as a day-night doubleheader on Saturday. The same holds true for the Padres-Nationals game from D.C. There is a 75 percent or greater chance of rain at 7 p.m. ET, although the chances taper off to 20 percent by 11 p.m. It might be a late night in Washington, or the game could also be rescheduled. If they do play, there will be a 13-16 mph wind blowing in from the left-center field power alley into the face of the batters.

The Brewers and Mets will likely be rained out, too, with a 60 percent or greater chance of rain from 7 p.m. onward. If they do play, the winds are blowing out from 15-18 mph to left field. They'll have clear conditions in Atlanta for the Rockies-Braves game, with a jetstream blowing to left-center field at a 11-14 mph clip. For Tigers-White Sox on the south side, it will also be very clear with a brisk 11-14 mph wind blowing out to right-center field.

                          Nuggets (54-28) at Spurs (48-34)

Denver strutted, shot and defended its way to a pivotal Game 5 win over San Antonio on Tuesday and is one win away from clinching a spot in the Western Conference semifinals.

But the Nuggets don't expect the seventh-seeded Spurs to go quietly when they meet Thursday night in the Alamo City in Game 6 of the first-round series.

The second-seeded Nuggets, who lost the series opener at home and nearly lost the second, head back to Texas after Tuesday's dominating 108-90 win in Denver. They are on the cusp of their first postseason series victory since 2009, when they reached the Western Conference finals.

Nuggets forward Nikola Jokic said he expects Game 6 to be the "toughest game of our lives."

Denver snapped a 14-game, seven-year losing streak in San Antonio with a 117-103 victory in Game 4 on Saturday.

The Nuggets carried that momentum into Tuesday and dominated Game 5, leading by 11 at the half and by as many as 30 points in the final quarter to seize their first lead of the series. Jamal Murray paced Denver with 23 points, one of seven Nuggets in double figures.

Jokic added 16 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists, and remained the hub of Denver's offense.

"What's remarkable about Nikola is he has that consistency," Nuggets coach Michael Malone said. "You expect greatness from him every night."

Denver's defense had a lot to say about the Game 5 win. In a 5:21 span of the first quarter, the Spurs managed only one field goal and missed seven consecutive shots. In the second quarter, San Antonio was held to another stretch of more than five minutes with just one made basket.

After Denver began the third quarter on a 17-4 run, the Spurs were all but forced to concede.

"They just outplayed us in every facet," Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. "We missed a lot at the rim early, or it could have been a much more competitive first half. We've got to have more guys playing well for sure."

Malone labeled the Nuggets' third-quarter performance, in which they scored 32 points and led by as many as 28, one of their best of the season.

"We didn't even have to call any offensive sets," Malone said. "We were just playing the game, and obviously San Antonio's a team that started that many years ago, the beautiful game. But it's really fun to watch, as a coach, as a fan. And our guys thrive off that."

LaMarcus Aldridge, a non-factor in the series despite leading San Antonio through the regular season, paced the Spurs in Game 5 with 17 points and 10 rebounds. DeMar DeRozan added 17 points, but made just 6 of 15 shots from the field.

"There's always somebody that steps up in the playoffs," Popovich said. "You look for people to step up who aren't your major players. Every winning team, there's someone who seems to do that."

It seems like a lifetime ago when San Antonio held a 2-1 lead and owned the home-court edge against the Nuggets. Now the Spurs have to fight for their playoff lives to force a deciding seventh game in Denver on Saturday.

"We want to win two straight," Spurs guard Bryn Forbes said. "That's our goal, to play the best two games we can put together and try to win these next two."
