DREAMY ART - The April 7th race at Tampa Bay Downs was at a class level of (78). Dropping down the ladder based on class rating points considerably, so she should be in a good spot. This mare has higher odds on the morning line than the other entrant from the stable of Camejo. Better beware of this angle. This horse is utmost in earnings per start (EPS). She looks strong in today's event.

Vulnerable Contenders: #6 JACKIE EMS PAL (ML=5/2), #5 DESERT EMPRESS (ML=4/1), #4 OLE BLACK MAGIC (ML=5/1),

JACKIE EMS PAL - Hasn't been on the Evangeline Downs oval in the last three weeks. Cause for some concern. Somewhat easily forgotten speed figure last race out at Evangeline Downs at 5 1/2 furlongs. Don't think this runner will improve too much in today's race. DESERT EMPRESS - The finish of eighth in the last event shows me that this horse may be getting out of condition. The speed figure last out doesn't fit very well in this event when I look at the class figure of today's contest. Mark this mount as a vulnerable competitor. OLE BLACK MAGIC - Difficult to bet on any thoroughbred in a short distance event at 5/1 when she hasn't shown any successful endeavors in sprints in the last two months. This mare is always in the money, but just doesn't get the job done. Tough to wager on her on the top end.

QUEEN OF BERMUDA (IRE) - Faced tougher last time out at Churchill Downs. Based on class ratings, this is a weaker field, so I will put this one on my list of contenders in this race. A repeat of that most recent effort on May 11th where she earned a speed figure of 92 looks good enough to prove victorious in this clash. MISSMIZZ - Trainer, Stidham, has been deliberate with this filly off the layoff. Look for a solid effort today. Stidham is solid in turf sprints. This equine should have no rationalizations if she doesn't win. GOLCONDA (FR) - Don't throw this thoroughbred out due to her last event at Aqueduct where she ran fourth on the soft turf. Expect better today. Horses out of the barn of Servis have been solid on the turf. I'd expect a good performance. This filly has demonstrated class at major foreign tracks, and ships in for today's race. Could be tough to beat.

A BIT OF BOTH - The pace situation just isn't too promising for this early speedball. Many other thoroughbreds would have to scratch to improve her efforts. ORRA MOOR - Difficult to bet on any horse to turn things around if there is no reward to taking the chance. Difficult to support any runner in a sprint clash if she hasn't hit the board in a sprint in the last two months. EYEINTHESKY - Today's race is 5 1/2 furlongs. Hasn't hit the board in a short distance race in the last two months. Not the greatest of signals. In the last race this vulnerable equine finished sixth. Doesn't bode well for her chances in today's event.

I'll take my chances here with San Francisco. The Giants don't have the talent that Milwaukee possess, but SF has won 3 straight and are 7-4 in their last 11 overall. The offense has scored 4 or more runs in 3 straight games and will be up against Jimmy Nelson, who is making just his second start since 2017. Nelson was awful in his first start back, giving up 5 runs in 3 innings. That was against the Marlins, who are a really bad offensive team. San Francisco will have ace Madison Bumgarner on the mound, who is hot with a 2.84 ERA in his last 3 starts. Give me the Giants -100!

My free play is on the Tex Rangers at 7:10 ET. Texas made back-to-back World Series appearances in 2010 and 2011 (lost both), to begin a seven-year stretch in which the Rangers made the playoffs in FIVE of seven seasons. However, Texas would go 78-84 in 2017 and then 67-95 in 2018. That said, the 37-32 Rangers find themselves squarely in the thick of the American League playoff race thanks to their strong play over the last month. Texas currently owns the second AL wild card position, although FIVE teams are within 3 1/2 games of them. The Rangers won 7-1 Friday night at Cincinnati, giving Texas its 20th victory in its last 30 games. As for the Reds, they fell to 30-37. They are one percentage point back of 31-38 Pittsburgh, falling back into last place in the NL Central, one day after ending a 58-day stretch in the cellar. Mike Minor (5-4, 2.52 ERA) and Tanner Roark (4-5, 3.74 ERA) square off in Saturday's middle contest of the three-game series. Minor is a former first-round pick who made 65 relief appearances for KC in 2017 but the Rangers put him back in the starting rotation in 2018. He made 28 starts last year, going 12-8 with a 4.18 ERA. Here in 2019, he's been the team's best starter. He is winless in his last four outings but has logged quality starts in FOUR of his past five starts, including Monday's no-decision at Boston in which he held the Red Sox to two runs and fanned six over eight innings. Minor allowed SIX runs in his season debut on March 28, but he has limited the opposition to two runs or less in 10 of his 13 trips to the mound! Roark is in his first season in Cincinnati, after spending the past six years with the Washington Nationals. He lost for the FOURTH time in his last five starts last Saturday at Philadelphia, allowing four runs through five innings.That said, Roark's pitched better than his record, as prior to allowing four ERs in each of his last two outings, he had allowed three ERs or less in 10 of his first 11 starts of 2019. He owns a 2.08 ERA in two career starts vs the Rangers but has lost BOTH games. Love the way Texas is playing and Minor over Roark gets me on the Rangers in this one.Good luck...Larry

Atlanta scored 3 runs in the 9th to defeat the Phillies 9-8 in Friday's series opener. That secured the Braves 8th straight win and I'm confident they make it 9 in a row tonight. Winning a game the way Atlanta did yesterday is a massive momentum boost. At the same time it's equally demoralizing for the loser.
This is also an outstanding price to get a top tier team like the Braves on their home field no matter who the opponent. Phillies have lost 4 of 5 and are getting love here with Aaron Nola on the mound. Nola was good in his last start, but he's not been good overall. Nola has a 4.58 ERA and 1.487 WHIP in 14 starts. He's made 5 starts on the road and has an ugly 6.75 ERA in those outings.
Braves will turn to Sean Newcomb, who I like in this spot. Newcomb made 3 starts back in April and struggled. He got things figured out and has been effective out of the bullpen. I think he comes out and performs well.
Braves are 13-2 in their last 15 after scoring 8 or more runs in their previous game and 13-3 in their last 16 vs a starter with a WHIP greater than 1.30. Take Atlanta!
