This is great value on the Reds. This Cincinnati team is hot. They have won six straight and seven of nine. Today they have their ace Luis Castillo on the mound. He is 7-1 this year with a 1.11 WHIP and a 2.26 ERA. He is going against Jhoulys Chacin, who is just 3-8 with a 1.52 WHIP and a 5.60 ERA. Chacin has lost five straight starts and eight of his last 10. The Brewers have lost five straight games and this team is struggling. I love the underdog value on the hot Reds team and hot pitcher here. Take Cincinnati.


4-Unit Play. Take #903 Miami (+1.5, -120) over Philadelphia (4 p.m., Saturday, June 22)

The Marlins have won three of their last four games and have been better on the road this year than they have been at home. Philadelphia has lost five straight and eight of 10. This team is having trouble scoring and has just eight runs in its last five games. The Marlins are going with Elieser Hernandez. He has a 0.94 WHIP and a 3.09 ERA in his last three starts. Vince Velasquez has a 2.20 WHIP and a 10.80 ERA in his last three starts, all losses. I like the Marlins to win this game outright. I will take the runline for the extra value.

  Paddack v. Archer
  Better pitcher and the system backing him is excellent following the series opening loss and tough one at that...with Lauer being outdueled by Musgrove in a pitcher showcase. Machado hit a HR for the only backing Lauer would get but also his gaffes in the field caused the Pirates game winning run. I expect a more efficient. defensive Machado as well as our Chris (in the battle of struggling Chris v. struggling Chris) to be the more efficient starter through 5 innings. I look for Paddack to bring down his fly ball rate...the issue that plagued 2 of his 3 consecutive poor starts...and he showed signs in his last outing again San Fran.
  Archer has allowed a run per inning his last 2 times out. While he is much better in his home park than on the road...in neither position is he able to avoid clogging the bases with free passes. The Dads have also been close to the best road team against righties all month and I think they snap awake tomorrow after Musgrove took out some aggression and shut them down hard Friday night.
